london didn't have the olympics since 1948. We haven't had a world cup since 1966. I wouldn't say there is any favoritism towards britain. America did get favoritism especially in the 80s and 90s, but that was at the peak of their world power.

London 2012 will seem like light relief for the IOC after the ongoing fiasco of Beijing 2008! We're still 6 months away from Beijing and all I see is more trouble ahead! London will rival Sydney and Barcelona in terms of great Olympic Games!

I was actually there at the IOC meeting in the so called "empress room", was sitting two seats from Sven and Beckham also ^^ the French were so cocky... they thought they had won it n must have felt pretty stupid afterwards... stupid London Bombings put this event in the quiet... i wuda been famous 8-)

IN 1992 Paris was the front runner but Juan Samaranch awarded the games to his hometown Barcelona and of course because Albertvill won the winter games Paris was deprived. Later on Athens had all the rights to host Olympics in 1996 because of centenial jubileum of Olympics.

What are you on about? It is widely accepted across the IOC and the world that Syndey put on the best olympic games to date. Atlanta, while not perfect, is so far one of the very few games to actually make money!
London was chosen because it had a concise theme: to inspire the youth of the world to take up sport. No other bid had a concurrent theme, or at least not to that extent. The London bid presentation was exciting and stimulating, the same could not be said of Paris', or Moscow.
