  • Peter O Bourne is absolutely right! Lol nearly on the floor laughing when he called that man from EU an 'idiot' right infront him (virtually) and then again, even Jeremy Paxman struggled to withhold the laughs as he two challenged him twice on taking accountability for slush. I'm liking this!

  • They ignored us, then they humiliated us and called us all sorts of names (even comparing us to Hitler which is funny given the fact a united European empire was fuehrer's wet dream). It's time for eurosceptics to strike back.

  • Peter Oborne is very blunt and provocative but he is right!! He is an idiot in Brussels! Talking nonsense saying "The Euro has acted as a shield and created economic stability and prosperity!?" - I hate Merkel!! Auf Wiedershen, so do many from Germany - why should their taxes go to bailout a corrupted country that does not pay their taxes or work!???? Why should England pay?

  • Typical British vacuous arrogance, their pitifulness is only exceeded by their caricature of themselves. If only the fat moron and the smug interviewer had any logical argument, one would be inclined to suffer them.

  • @sujoyg I think they conducted themselves fairly. The E.U. has been seen doing very little to solve the issue that it created. People warned that you can't lock rich countries in Western Europe with poorer countries in Southern Europe into the same currency. They were ignored.

The general consensus now is that the European Union created a massive problem that it cannot solve, who have no accountablity to solve, and it's affecting countries that aren't even in the Euro-Zone (such as the U.K.).

  • @ImNotADoctor5 The economy was fine when each country had their own currency, otherwise explain why Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland arn't going bankrupt!? Well because they are not in the Euro and they work & pay taxes!

  • @Supersmooth007 I agree completely, but it was the E.U. the pioneered and pushed the euro (obviously). Blame rests with the E.U. as well.

Even the UK, which has mismanaged it's economy, is doing far better than it would if it were in the euro-zone.

  • @ImNotADoctor5 Well Germany (Merkel) pretty much runs Greece and Italy now!!!

  • @Supersmooth007 BS. It's because they have different economy structure and comparing Switzerland to the likes of Greece is like comparing oranges to apples. Look at the UK, it's not in the eurozone, yet it's fucked.

  • @ImNotADoctor5 The MEP's are a bunch of communist socialists twats that think they can run everything, remember Greece was persuaded to join the Euro and they are only bailing outeach other countries to keep the Euro going and it has failed! Why should our laws come from Brussels!? More British laws to be made in Britain thank you.

  • @Supersmooth007 Well, a trade union is important, which is what the E.U. was supposed to be. It's expanded into anything but now, which is the issue. While I think it's paramount that we set up some universal trading laws with the rest of Europe, it should end there. Europe is far, far too deverse a continent for us to make universal economic and social laws for every member nation.

That Germany had Ireland's 2012 budget report before the Irish is an absolute shambles.

  • @ImNotADoctor5 I'm sorry but it's affecting UK only because UK partook in the events leading to the current state even if UK has no euro. BTW UK benefits millions of £££ every year from EU funded research projects as well as other benefits of being in the EU but nobody acknowledges that. Truth is UK always tries to tell everyone in the EU what to do but it always accepts least responsibilities. FUCK UK. Over and out.

  • @YourFatClownAss The UK is also the third biggest financial contributor to the EU. Millions of pounds of benefit is terrible when the UK contributes £65 billion a year.

Truth is that European citizens never voted for political union, and never wanted political union. And now more and more don't want economic union. Europe is brilliant because of our differences (the many languages, cultures etc), lets not destory what makes it great with a United States of Europe.

  • @YourFatClownAss To be fair, the EU is run by only two countries and I doubt either of them would ever accept Britain "telling them what to do". The problem with us in Britain is that we don't belong in the EU. All of the EU countries would probably prefer it if we weren't in the Union and the majority of our citizens would prefer that too.

I think its harsh to say "FUCK UK" as we have always been willing to work with and aid our continental neighbours even by adding to the recent bailout funds.

  • it looks even funnier now!

  • That's a classic scenario.

When you don't have arguments to attack the issue, attack the issuer.

That's why Peter Oborne called that guy an "idiot from Bruxels"

And that tells a lot about his ability of reasoning... or should I say IQ?

  • Entertaining though!

  • Regardless of the debate, this was not a particularly civilised display on the part of Peter Oborne.

  • Great to see Peter Oborne sticking to the pro-Euro types, they really should be put in prison. They knew perfectly well that the Euro couldn't work, but went ahead with it anyway,so that when it hit the rocks they could get a full fiscal union(control of tax and spending). The point is,the EUSSR types are not stupid, they are the "elite",but they have this strange ideology/lack of wisdom which says economic disaster is woth it to get European unity.

  • I don't always agree with Peter Oborne's comments in his blog in the Telegraph, but on this occasion I have to say - Peter Oborne, you legend!

  • UK no is Europe, Germany is the líder of Europe good people solidaries, england only your benefice no import rest Europe. Europe no need Uk, UK go to hell.

  • Oborne = Legend!

  • What about the 1 TRILLION POUNDS in deb the UK has?

  • Bravo Oborne, well said!

  • I don't get it why cant we all mutually agree to wipe all dept and start again we are all human and the system is a man made thing it's not set in stone, money/currency is fundamentally another sort of belief system, we're are just over complicating everything. We started this money-economy system from scratch before why can't we do it again?

  • These English people are totally crazy and rude .... Why UK do not apologize for the RBS scandals ? I can not believe that in UK exists this Newsnight interviews. What it is more stupid is that the other people in studio do not react to stop that absurd and totally not polite without brain journalist .... especially the facilitator ... UK sometimes look like a subsidiary of USA, where was in bankruptcy in August ... And USA was not like Greece. Europe cohesion will stop this Anglophone Crises!

  • "this is a political project" - the EU principal in a nutshell

  • The EU happily dish it out but can't take it eh? bloody sissies

  • our stupid bankster puppet Angela helps with our ( german taxpayers ) the banks of greece, but we, the german , have 400 billion dept ourself ,thats paying intrest 1800 Euro a second , thats double the sum I earn a month as senior carer

  • The only idiot in this debate is the fat ugly Brit pig with his white socks. Look at the bulging lard and the bloated grin. And what are his credentials? Writing for the Telegraph!!! Amazing that he was invited to a live debate on the BBC.

  • He got Paxmaned

  • Mr Idiot from Brussels should be grateful for the kind words. He could have been called a dago bastard or something.

  • Come on guys, that fatty guy with the Susan Boyle's smile is obviously suffering of bipolar disorder, that's all ! : )

Try don't eat the unhealthy fish and chips when you visit the Britain isle if you don't want to look as pathetic as him.

  • oborne shouldn't have said that.

He might be right about his economics but he is a total cock

  • Some people in Europe have values. One of those is respect. Some don't.

  • @grasptheuniverse So you've not done too much traveling on the continent obviously.

  • The danger of live interviews, you can never be sure what people will say

  • The danger of live interviews, you can never be sure what people will say

  • the telegraph guy speaking the truth as usual

  • Well, Britain wants the Euro down no matter what. But the insulting guy might be right in most of his speech. The inexcusable thing about him are the white socks with black shoes; God, in national television......

  • @oseano10 he is English...

  • @oseano10

Gawd! You're right! I blame the US for that. But any man who refers to Marx shows true class.

  • this was weak... I was really hoping Paxo would force him out with his abrasiveness...

  • Such a great show and is viewable, one hour after 'live', on the Internet anywhere in the civilized world, so, even when you are on vaction you don't have to miss it.

    .

    Newsnight !

  • @grasptheuniverse Go to bed you immature halfwit. The grown ups are talking now...night night.

  • Faltón,grosero y impresentable , poco hombre cara.

  • madness

  • This is an example of genuine political debate.

  • BRAVO!!

  • nice tights.

  • White socks?

  • So having national pride is narrow minded is it ???

What a guy, tell em how it is, lets get a bit more of that British grit that has kicked every nation around the world and get ourselves out of these political and economic shackles before we are too weak to do anything. Lets tell them as it is, get stuffed Europe

  • @eyeswideopennimrod lol at your national pride bull shit, Britain is fucked your bankrupt. The UK banks were the most over exposed in the WORLD! So much for the Financial capital for Europe.

Britain kicked fuck all about, they cant even kick a fucking football about. All your major companies are foreign owned, even your NATIONAL sport is making money for others.

The UK's whole "BOOM" was based on Property.

At least Germany can bail out entire COUNTRIES! UK cant even afford to lose Scotland!

  • @GamD2 Why does your profile, say you live in the UK?

  • @GamD2 Cant kick fuck all can't we ?? WW1 , WW2 both of them the British kicked Germany's ass rescuing the rest of Europe, looks like we may have to do it again.

Cant afford to lose Scotland, why?? we would be much better off not having to pump billions into there economy.

The whole EU experiment has been an excessive in endebting every nation within it, so we have to give away our sovereignty, but it has all been unlawful and we may take it back at any time, so Germany fails again LOL

  • @eyeswideopennimrod

actually its german work and productivity thats propping up this whole expermiment called EU...so the brittish once more instigate conflict but they themselves won't bear the responsibility of thier actions...

  • @dekonfrost7 I think you will find that around 1943 /44 the Germans realized they would loose a second time to the British and that militarily they had no chance of winning control of Europe, so they set up a think tank to find an alternative to getting there asses kicked. This is where the European Union came from, create a club where every nation would pump money into, and the last man standing would win the lot. This was made easier for Germany as the British had to fund rebuilding Germany

  • @eyeswideopennimrod after we destroyed it. Now i arnt saying the think tank got it wrong, but they didn't foresee what is about to happen within the EU, as the people realize the EU is a slave ship about to sink and we will rescue our own nations back out of it with or without the help of our governments. If we fail we will just burn it all to the ground and Germany with it. So if you fancy round 3 with the UK then we are more than ready to kick Germany's ass yet another time.

  • @mistermassive1 Bravo!

  • As a nation we should do what that guy did. Get up and walk out of Europe.

  • Johanna Kyrklund is so badass, and she's so young, only 35. I'm sure she's already gotten her golden parachute sewn together twice over!

  • Whether the man was right or wrong the behaviour of that so called journalist was shameful. He is another little Englander smug wanker who is not interested in the poor souls he continues to bang on about, he simply wants to scream Rule Britannia. Well he can fuck right off. Only time will tell what happens to the Euro and I for one would love to see that prick get it shoved back down his throat.

  • @MrHarrylime79 not really if you listen to what he says, he's insulted by the political bullshit being peddled fucking over economies on the continent. and the only people who have been consistently right about the Euro are those that are Anti-EU. Theres a video of Nigel Farage on here with clips of his speeches from 2006 to now where he outlines what is happening now back then.

  • @MrHarrylime79 To all who are reading, it is very simple. One word, EFFICIENCY, if you havent got it INefficiencies compound over years and will hit the wall. Communism died because of it and now the EURO without individual countries natural correction mechanism will also go the way of the dinosaur. Can't imagine what those guys were thinking about when they devised this scheme to remove natural evolutionary corrections to replace with a rigid system. Europe politicians are IDIOTS.

    Keong.

  • @MrHarrylime79 You have a typical lefty/liberal view of Europe/Euro ,which is you like them because it annoys nationalists.Trouble is ,your beloved Euro has led us to the brink of disaster just as us Little Englanders predicted. If we(Britain) are lucky ,Germany will come up with the 2 trillion Euros to bail out southern Europe ,plus their future debts. If they don't,our banks will all have to be bailed out.But the pro-Euro idiots should shut the fuck up when they have been proved so wrong.

  • "Euro commission spokesman" Aka EUSSR propaganda apparatchik.
