I don't know why the different uploads of this song has so few views. This is one of their greatest songs. Just rocks out non stop. What else do you want people?
One of the greatest rock groups in history. Dire Straits lives forever. Knopfler is already a legendary composer and songwriter. Expresso love is another excellent song among many.
Great to watch, but however I am sure this is not
the original order: it is cut together. The outro of
the first version of PI was connected to "News" which can be recognized at the drum part from 7:03 on. And between that there is the opening riff from Down to the waterline. So all mixed up here.
What a fun concert !! It was great to see Mark interacted with the audiences like this. Love all the earlier year concerts. Where can I get a copy of this concert and others. Love DS and MK for as long as I live and after..... They are the only band I listen to on a daily basis. And of course MK solos
Flerondin, no neither Mark nor the sTAITS are in the R 'n' R HOF. But Madonna is, like she's really a rocker. Not sure who the idiots are, but they are idiots.
Flerondin, I noticed that when Mark was doing this gig, you were just being born. Amazing, my friend! How did you get turned onto the Straits and Mark? Mark found some great talent to be with him on stage during the Straits years. I am so glad he still tours. Did you go see him live? I am going to see him two times in about 2-1/2 weeks, one indoor venue, one outdoor venue. Can't wait!
Well, It is hard to avoid good music... I heard Walk of Life, Sultans of Swing and So Far Away few times on a radio, and those songs are songs from my childhood. After that I came upon more Dire Straits songs, and I liked them all. And after that I came upon Mark's solo albums. And I liked them too. And yes, I was on his concert. It was last night, here in Croatia. I can tell you it was fabulous.
Flerondin, I've been following Mark's European leg of the tour, and when I saw you were from Croatia, I figured (or hoped) that you were at the gig. Describe the venue and the crowd. (Next tour I am going to take in some Euro gigs, so I have to figure out the best venues to go.) Did Mark have to say anything to the crowd about no filming like he has at other gigs? Was this your first time to see Mark? How close were you to the stage?
Well, he didn't say anything about filming, but there was a warning before the show started. He did talk to the crowd, a bit. For instance, he introduced the band and said something funny about the bass player. This is my first time seeing Mark live, and I was sitting in the 14th row. VIP parter.
dude that is exactly how i started to like Dire Straits :D, It sucked when I found out they broke up a long time ago, but Knopfler is actually the reason why I play guitar nowadays :). The kill to get crimson tour was the first concert for me aswell and i loved every second. He was here in Holland in March
I think I recall seeing Markie fingerpick this song. However, I'm sure he would manage it without a pick, his technique with the right hand fingers is unique and totally mind-blowing.

I was born in 1972 ... i listen to DS on my first tape recorder (90 minutes Ferro BASF lol) ... at the same time i play with my first Electrique Train toys (sorry for my english)
Today i'm 36 ... i listen to DS with the same pleasure when i'm 8 ...

1972 must be the year all the best D.S. fans were born lol ! my birthday 13th July 1972. Agreed, for 30 years i listen to the straits and love it as much now as i did then.
problaby beacuse the song already existed back then. When they played in Rotterdam 1978 they played "Once upon a time in the west" & "Ladywriter". Both tracks not officially realesed until 1979' years album "Communique"
was that Pick Withers or Terry Williams on drums...no lights, hard to tell!!!! ANd the outro reminded me of Pink Floyd the Wall live, where at the end of disc 1 they reprised every song into about 2 mins!!! COol.. thanx!
Pretty sure that's Pick, getting a little loose out front there as they get near the end of the show (Mark even says something to "Withers" as they begin the intro) so he eventually does head back to his drum kit, and you can immediately hear what a difference he makes.
Mark is so inspiring! Just look at him have fun with this song. So much passion!

Fascinating version of the Straits' greatest rock song, the outro is great, I suppose a preview of Private Investigations.
"I surrender to the fever, I surrender to the will of the night" still love that line.

Umm... you play Expresso love with a pick... You can't play that song without it...
And Mark plays with pick sometimes... But he prefers fingerpicking.
Flerondin 4 years ago 3
I think the guitarist from dire strats(coverband) plays it without a pick really good... But you're right it's the best way for this song
Compaqhater85 3 years ago
Only two Dire Straits´ songs are played with pick (I remember): Expresso Love and The man´s too strong
