  • Oddly, I didn't like it. I didn't found the mood of SoM in these tracks...

  • @itzoverninethousand

the tracks were remixed by other composers. sounds more classical overall.

  • @GameMusicCompilation You don't say?!

  • The violen in place of the piano is kinda sad..

  • I don't see how 0:00-1:33 is prophecy (the flying theme) at all

  • @ElliotCarver ... Whoops. Wrong video.

  • I'm SO glad they will repeat this concert this year in cologne, got my tickets the moment I knew about it. I don't even care for the rest of the songs, I'll be there just for this one.

  • 02:42 Main Theme

    04:58 Forest Theme

  • Wow...!! Is this what it took to put the music in Squaresoft games back in the days?! No wonder it was so amazing... They really put effort into their soundtracks - that's for sure

  • At first I thought orchestrating video game soundtracks was sort of a gimmick, but the SNES RPG's I've played seriously have some of the most amazing music written. And yet, it seems most people will never get to hear them. :(

I'm glad to hear these guys putting this out there.

  • @TheOneartist It is a gimmick, but know that some of the most talented composers I've heard have created music for games. Some do both, like Harry Gregson-Williams (Metal Gear Solid)

  • This is missing Meridian Dance. =(

  • 1:12 is when the good stuff starts

  • 11 people have no idea what good music is. They probably don't even know what they are listening to, those low-brows...

  • @Honeyfork I think these 11 people never played SOM!

  • The moment the melody started.. NOSTALGIA

  • very beautiful... and magic, secret of mana remake please! (:

  • Thumbs up if you dont want to wait for

    1:12 ... the beginning. <3

  • @DunkleMaterie117

    0:00 - 1:12 is so important... what the !@#* are you doing ??!? o_O

  • @DunkleMaterie117 the anticipation is what makes it truly beautiful. You don't fight the mana beast at the beginning of the game do you?

  • Does anyone have any idea what lyrics the choir is singing during the first part (up to 4:51) ?

  • I like the sound of the ostinato played pizzicato at 4:51, but I'm not a big fan of the way the principal violin articulated the melody a few seconds later. Flute had it right, though, and I liked his articulation at 5:59. Overall, this is a great arrangement and some of the greatest game music ever composed.

  • yea but guess who made ff13 and all those other games...... SQUARE

  • @xeeen0 no. Square-enix. Squaresoft was good, but the quality level dropped considerably after the merger with enix.

  • @rakninja You'd think by taking the two best SNES RPG makers and merging them, they'd come out with the best games. Unfortunately, the opposite case.

Besides the first Kingdom Hearts, they haven't come out with anything worthwhile. Just milking the Mana and Final Fantasy series with subpar sequels. All about CGI graphics and scanty teenage anime girls instead of real plot and music.

I have to give them credit, though, for re-releasing Chrono Trigger with the translation it deserves.

  • @TheOneartist The name of the company is worth only face value.

It's the people within it that matters.

  • There, i've chosen, im using this music on my funeral

  • holy crap, this gave me the chills....

  • I always knew at that time when I played this game that the music was very very special indeed. It´s truely awesome to see a `real life` performance like his, based on a relatively simple nintendo 16-bit game.

  • I can totally imagine this composition as film music... *dreams*

  • from what I remember, the secret of mana soundtrack was written by some pure genius japanese composer.... I mean EVERY song on the soundtrack is mind blowing and fits with the mood of that particular point of the game PERFECTLY.

  • @supafrozty He did the soundtrack for Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2), as well! Seriously amazing!

  • Shivers at 0:14

  • really cool, but yes starts out quite quiet

  • 3:36 whoaaa chillssss so epic

  • @Krakolio Maybe I'd be loved as the president who remembered good video games! =D

  • Ridiculous goosebumps @ 8:07 and 2:42!!

  • omg..never got goose bumps so fast O_o

  • still amazing, I wish it was louder though

  • @Morax666666 MORE COWBELL!!!

  • too quiet

  • I am eternally devoted to Nobuo Uematsu, but as a matter of fact, I think Fear of the Heavens, by Hiroki Kikuta, is the single most beautiful melody ever written for a video game. It might have come from heaven; it sounds of the garden before the beginning of the world, of the holy places beyond thought and time, where evil things do not go.

  • At first I thought the video had its audio removed, had to turn my monitors ALL the way up to hear this. Good music tho

  • If I was the president, I'd change the national anthem to THIS !

  • @SepyaKolik You'd be remembered as the president who loved video games.

  • 2:25 - auditory orgasm, what an awesome build up! Secret of Mana really is something else, not just for its fantastic gameplay, but that beautiful soundtrack, its stuck with me for around 12 years since I first played the game - and no doubt will remain on my mind for years to come!

  • Awesome!

  • 9 people pressed the dislike button. That is all.

  • SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOSIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO SIRPOTASIO

  • Pots si sabe !

  • vengo de SirPotasio

  • Wow! How did the composer.. the effects in the beginning were so beautiful! How did she get the effect of waves and rain??? I'm in complete awe right now

  • @rikku38 I believe it is some kind of steel drum on which is drummed with a brush, to create the sound of impacting droplets and whooshing wind.

  • Seriously what happened? Why don't they make games like secret of mana or chrono trigger anymore?

  • Comment removed

  • wauw...one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

    so nostalgic

    the best game ever made

sorry chrono lovers, I love that game too, but Secret of Mana really is something else...

  • This seemed to be a pretty loose arrangement, using bits of only a few songs.

  • AWSOME!!!

  • Too bad they didn't do Dark Star. I would have loved to hear that orchestrated.

  • They should make an anime movie of secret of mana.

  • The only thing that dissapoints me is that there is no Secret of Evermore medley.

  • Hands down, best VG music of all time! If I was at this live performance I would have crapped myself from all the joy it would have brought me. Would have lost all control.

  • Nintendo's music is better because you can appreciate the musical notes feelings like sadness, happiness, joy and other

  • oh my god is it real?

  • fuck you...the sound is so much low

  • @hamasalkaida buy new speakers or headphones! Why has people to be this rude??

  • Six people were abused by video games in their childhood :(

  • goooooosebumbs XD

  • I got the chills when the choire started. this is so beautyfull

  • SUPERB!!

  • omg i forgot to mention super street fighter 2 :)

  • metroid 2 and 3, secret of mana, terranigma, chrono trigger, final fantasy 6(3 for europa), zelda 3 and 4, lufia 2, many other r not just products for sale but real artworks. compared with many todays games this artworks r like 3 earlyer episodes of starwars vs teletubbies.

  • No words to describe how this is magnificent.. My favorite music game of all time played like this. I'm shivering from the feeling it brings me.. Almost in tears.

  • n1

  • n1 !!

  • I cried at 4:52! I've always wanted to hear it orchestrated!

  • OMG They're calling Flammie at 8:31 !!!!!! I didn't notice the Flammie drum the first time I listened to this!!!!! O_O The memories. The chills. The utter BLISS.

  • I have to wonder how many people who hear this stuff (as a performer or audience member) have never played these games, never even heard of them, then they were part of this performance. And they got interested in the game(s) to see what kind of game had such enchanting music. It's about time that the best of the Square repertoire becomes available on record instead of the tinkety-tink of the midis that we first learned the music from.

  • hey, this shit makes me some authentic "goose bumps"

  • Guys we are old... listening to music, thinking back the good old time...

I wish one game could give me the feelings those games used to

  • color of the summer sky ?

  • does anyone else notice that the music for super nintendo games blows all other systems out of the water in terms of pure orchestration? seriously, this, zelda, chrono trigger? all the scores are unparalleled in later systems, with the exception of the final fantasy series.

  • @trashedinaz

I definitely love FF musics, Secret of Mana, Zelda, castlevania IV and so on on the SNES... But you should not forgot great games music on the megadrive like the phantasy star series

  • @shiloushilou I'm not familiar with those soundtracks. Any particular themes you'd suggest?

  • @awesomegamevids

the theme of altered beat, "last dungeon" wonder boy, the revenge of the shinobi full tracks and especially "terrible beat" and "long distance", sword of vermillion "last city", phantasy star III "main theme" "overworld" (the whole phantasy star II, III and IV have amazing soundtracks).

Of course this is personal tastes and keep in mind when listening to theme what they could be if they were plaid in a symphonic way

  • @shiloushilou Thanks!

  • @awesomegamevids

You are welcome. If you are interested I made a top of music video from different systems (this time the theme was music combats. I think I will make other about different theme if people enjoyed). Just look on my channel

  • @shiloushilou Indeeed. I agree. There are some good orchestrated music that has on the whole serirs of Phantasy Star; and I am not talking about the pso series lol

  • @shiloushilou Indeed. I agree. There are some good orchestrated music that has on the whole series of Phantasy Star; and I am not talking about the pso series lol

  • @trashedinaz hey you can not said thaht! many other song of game music are beautiful with an orchestre. see "the vidéo games lives" ot the cd Symphonic phantasy. anyway Secret of mana and Chrono are épic.

  • @trashedinaz Here's a person that's never played a BioWare game.

  • @maki0129 ...I have, and I still agree with him

  • @trashedinaz Not just blows them out of the water in a few games, but consistently every single game has at least one memorable song. Do you know why? Because frankly the people making the games didn't make them for the money, but as an art. They actually cared about their games.

  • @jackattack923 sadly no one cares about anything but zombies and shooters and shooting zombies nowadays. on the subject of art though i've always remembered the theme music from... what was that game parasite eve or something like that? can't be asked to google it but it was a cool game. something about mitchondria. had this beautiful piano intro theme.

  • @trashedinaz I guess back then things were different, only 16 bit, so the music was an important factor in making it come to life. And they really made it count.

  • @trashedinaz look for dragon quest Symphonic's those are great for your ears

  • @trashedinaz dont forget kingdom hearts :)

  • @trashedinaz Dont over-do it. Dragon Quest , the golden sun series and alot of other good rpg's (and action games) still have top-noth soundtracks.

  • @trashedinaz I think indie developers of flash games might bring it back though, listen to some of the music from Sonny and Sonny 2.

  • @trashedinaz Because most of the FF music was composed by Nobuo Uematsu =)

  • @trashedinaz That's because Square Enix knows still knows how to compose quality music. If only they could still produce quality games...

  • @trashedinaz

Yup square in the snes era really nailed it. Chrono, Mana, FF6, FF4. Even in PS1 era, Xenogears, Cross. Best music in games period.

  • @trashedinaz I guess that's because game composers back in the day had less to work with.

  • @trashedinaz Chrono Cross and Xenogears would like a word with you. Hell, even FF13.

  • This is so beautiful!

  • I was just searching around for secret of mana music since I started to play it again after a long while and wow I'm just blown away by this. Just plain incredible.

  • i always play this game more for the music rather than other excuse

  • WoW!!! That was awsome!

  • my youth remember all that great music!!

  • I got goosebumps listening to this...

Wish I was a little girl again on my bed playing this game for the first time. =)

  • I still remember the moment when the ruby diadem dropped at the fortress, but i failed getting out of it to save the game... Guess i should try once again :)

  • fuck first person games this where the real games epic ahhhh how i miss that age the rpg action rpg era to bad its a shame no more good music no more good story no more epicness greedy fuck i hope the first person market dies out

  • MAKES ME WISH I PLAYED THIS GAME

  • no comment, just a tear for all the time, i have spend on this best game ever....

  • This is absolutely bloody fantastic....

So beautiful and just a perfect representation of the game. 10/10...

  • That was crazy, absolutely crazy. Amazing. And the really weird thing that gets me, is that as a kid....this is how the music sounded? If you listen to the simple music actually FROM the game without playing it, one wouldn't understand, but growing up playing this game over and over, the music just began to sound like a full symphony in our heads...I feel so so sorry for those who grew up without SoM :D:D:D.

  • 1:13 ...

this Melody...it explains so much more than i could write in this comment...

  • LOL, the players pay almost no attention to the conductor... for all they care he could be a monkey randomly waving a baton XD

    Anyway, very nice arrangement.

  • @leukrota You got it wrong about the musicians not paying attention to the conductor ;) Because they do ;) They actually use their peripheral sight, and if you look closely you can see them lift their gaze from time to time towards the conductor. Keep in mind that before the public performance there have been countless hours of rehearsal; so a good deal of things have already been timed and planned.

  • Wonderful :,)

  • As a symphony player, it is a wonderful thing to play something fantasical, something other than Mahler, or Brahms or Beethoven. I love adaptations of Masahi Hamauzu, Hiroki Kikuta, and especially Koichi Sugiyama, and Nobuo Uematsu . Those who created music seemingly for simple "video games" have created something far more powerful and beautiful. Something even recognized orchestras are willing to play... and even have fun with.

  • @ImpmanPDX i agree

  • I think the artist has also fun, look at 5:00. He is smiling like a child. ;)

  • A remake with this music and every single part of the game with as much passion and the world's population would have gone catatonic from overstimulance.

  • Alright , and now i´ll go in into my livingroom to connect my super nintendo to SoM .

    See you guys :D

  • This is... absolutely amazing. I think I'm going to buy three of these. One for me, and one for my brother and one for my sister for their birthday. I'm blown away, this is essentially my childhood, orchestrated, and put onto a CD

  • I am absolutely awestruck! That was some powerful stuff right there! I'm not a hardcore fan of secret of mana but Ive just recently started playing it on my iPhone, awesome game so far....

  • If I was a dictator, I'd have an orchestra playing video game music for me all day long!

  • @UltraNerdsOfTheWorld I want to live in the country you dicate! :)

  • @UltraNerdsOfTheWorld

Why a dictator? Why not a benevolent ruler that shares the magic and awe inspiring awesemeness that is awesome videogame music like these for all your followers to bask in? I would.

  • @Maximaldo Because my dad's an evil scientist and my mom ushers forth the meteor-induced apocalypse.

  • @UltraNerdsOfTheWorld but they wouldt do that for you. ;-) an orchestra works only in a democracy.

  • Good GOD, this is like if Secret of Mana were made into an animated movie by Studio Ghibli, and this was the soundtrack!

  • ZOMG IS THAT RIP TORN AT 2:28??

  • Doesn't Lost's soundtrack remind you guys of Secret of Mana at times?

  • I didn't know that Michael Keaton played Timpani!

  • Add this to the list of games I wish I'd played as a kid, but at least I did get around to playing it. My kids will be sure to have this included in their library! NONE OF THIS 3D HD FPS TRASH.

  • Just beautiful...... I remember playing SOM back in the day the things that stuck with the was it's soundtrack and somber story. Chrono Trigger's sound track stays on my mind for some reason too....

  • AMAZING!!!

  • @hecklovetch That is so so well-put and perfectly captures my feelings, too. People should respect video games they would a movie or play--so much craft goes into many of them, and it's obvious with games like Secret of Mana. How many people have left comments here regarding their nostalgia? And the music is so incredibly moving, could stand up on its own. Anyway I agree. XD

  • 3 people have no ears ;)

  • its fucking quiet :/

  • Great video, thanks for sharing!

  • LOL WHAT!? @4:30 there is the pianist, but next there's nobody by teh piano o.O

  • @keixoun

On the left there ist another concert piano. The piano you see is the one for the solo pianist which isn't playing in the secret of mana suite!

  • i want to eat this.

  • they should put this much care into another Seiken Densetsu game

  • 04:51 <3 best part, I love it!

  • I love you all!

  • that is so awesome ! .... i was there in i had some treas droppin .... " sry for my bad english ... "

  • 4:12 is so epic!

  • I cant listen to this without tearing up! music to my life!

  • 3:11 is when heaven came down =O

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! Wohoooooooooooooooooo!! This is a dream come trueeeeeeeee!!! :D :D :D

  • 4:51

The start of it makes me cry, the entire thing is absolutely beautiful.

  • i cant find any words for this....

    just WOW!

  • 1:00 - 1:15 it's like a rustle of leaves as a breeze blows by~

  • 0:50 why are they rubbin their hands?

  • @TerroRambo It's to create that sound of rustling leaves.

  • 1:16 gänsehaut pur

wirklich sehr schön gemacht...wo is mein snes....ahh da...let play som

  • Around 4:20 I nearly fainted I swear! This is such a good work... I need/want that CD.

  • Secret of Mana...what a nice memory. I definatly love this game even now.

This is one of the best games ever made :/

    >The Soundtracks are, of course, great, too.

  • lol i don't know why but 8:23-8:27 makes me chuckle

  • o.o how many buttons were added to the controller to make the game do this?

  • Will you be uploading tomorrows Symphonic Legends concert?

I hope this is a stupid question!!

  • They should make a remake of Secret of mana for the wii, thumps if you agree ^^

  • @KingsPosse I say all platforms but, mostly PC...I never had a SNES :( all emulation for me.

  • 5:20 shivers down my spine. Great stuff!

  • when I was playing in the past secret of mana,I was amazed by this soundtrack......I love this. One of the best vgm ever writen.
