i have a few questions. If you rin OS X on a pc you wouldnt by any chance have windows running in the background ? i mean can you keep a pc totally clean with OS X only ? Cause imo if you got to have windows on you computer it's not the same as running a mac, macs dont do blue screens of death and windows are limited on the RAM it can handle more than 4 gb a mac can handle up to 32 gb.
@gnialf no, OS X is an operating system just like windows. You either run windows or OS X, the other one doesn't run in the background (unless you use virtualization which is something else)
And i'm not here to say iMacs suck, all im trying to say is.. If you wanted you could run mac on a PC, and the reason its possible is because iMacs/Mac Mini/Macbooks all use the same hardware as PC's do.. Go look at the specs on the apple website and then go to a computer store website and find the parts.. You will find them..
There is official support, as long as Apple provides support for there current or older iMacs it'll be supported by any PC using the same hardware.. The only actual difference between Snow Leopard on PC and Mac is that on PC you have to use an EFI Booter, other then that its all the same.. Everything else will work the same, you can do updates, you can play games, you can also run bootcamp as you would on a Mac..
Who told you that? it is going to be fast, infact its going to be faster, and it will use all the features, I'm running OSX on PC, and incase you didn't know all the new Apple computers use PC hardware = Core 2 Duo processor and Core i5 750 and P55 chipsets.. I get a Geekbench score of 9100, its higher then the most expensive imac out there.. And I can do all updates and everything without issue..
Ive used mac since '99, and ive used mac on a pc, the only thing that a mac has that a pc has its the processor... and its nothing like the macs performance, and im sure you dont have all the updates and advantages with that you have with a mac...
You don't know much about hardware.. =/ iMac uses, the same Processor, same Motherboard Chipset, the same on board video card, the same hard drive, and the same memory that a PC does.. And yes I can do all the updates, it depends on the hardware you have. I'm using Core i5 750 @ 4Ghz, 4GB DDR 3 Memory, HD 4870, P55 Motherboard... I'm running 10.6.2, I can do all the updates... I'm running Vanilla, which means my PC works just a normal Mac would... And its faster then the most expensive imac..
No its not =/ god, thats the thing I never understood about Apple fans, most of them say things without even knowing the facts.. I can't believe that these dumb asses think that Mac's use different hardware =/.. THEY DID in the past, not anymore.. with the right hardware you can run Snow Leopard exactly as it would run on a Mac..
Leopard without internet is where a lot of people end up. If you get a RealTek 8139 or 8169-based network card, I can pretty much guarantee that it'll work, no matter what hacked version you use. (I have an 8169-based card in my current Hackintosh, and have used several with regular G3 and G4 Power Macs running older versions of Mac OS X.)
i used a laptop :( my desktop network card is probably compatible but everything else doesn't work. i have an AMD machine with the M2A VM-HDMI motherboard and btw my graphics is not supported either the laptop however is an intel and the graphics fully supported QE and CI
