this makes me want to kick a fricking baby.... please dont sing this song again until u learn how to sing.... la scia te mi is the ugliest thing ive ever heard... and its flat... i hope Duquesne University or wherever ur are studying ... helps u
Remember, the audience cannot understand what you're saying. Make them know with your vocal tone and expressivity. Singing is more than vocalizing pitches. It incorporates storytelling, poetic interpretation, acting, phrasing, etc..
This is constructive rather than abusive, because I think with a bit more study you can cultivate a sound that transcends this sound completely.
Vowels! These vowels are very American. An "e" vowel should have more of an "eh" sound to it otherwise the vowel spreads. Too much weight on the larynx! Take the weight off. It's like blowing air through a blade of grass when you do it right. The sound is simply produced, not forced. Diction courses! :)
i think ur trying a bit too hard.. you have a beautiful tone to your voice, but u also lack feeling, u can really tell u havent been depressed often and if u hve u sure as hell don show it..but again gorgious tone
Monteverdi never wrote such a thing as "Leiscatime morone" !!!!! It is LASCIATEMI MORIRE = LET ME DIE !!! who' s the announcer ? the doorman or the school cleaning guy ?
thanks man. i, myself, laughed to death when i first heard that guy giving the song tittle. i was crying seriously. it s funny but still i dont think it's professionnal not to introduce the "song" properly. the worst thing about it : that guy may be the vocal teacher !!!
Well, the guy who was doing the announcing was not the teacher, I think he was actually just a friend of one of the students who knew very little about music and languages for that matter. Yes, he completely butchered the pronunciation of the piece as well as butchering my last name. The concert was a couple of years ago, so I don't remember specifics about him. Glad you got a laugh out of it though
thnaks for the details. that was actually of the best laugh here in youtube because of the surprise, i wasnt expecting a laugh at all from playing that video but as i know and love this aria from monteverdi, i couldnt help myself.
Feeling boy! Put feeling into it! Your not at Duquesne because you can't sing, I hear the voice, its there, just let go and sing! Sing for the people! Know that you know it, and perform it!
@dazigg I agree the voice is there but he is emotionless thus it takes away from the performance. I noticed also that he cold open his mouth more in some parts of course I think everyone has trouble with that from time to time!
Well, I guess he said that indeed. I'm so shocked. I live in France, yet I dont think it has to do with one's nationality but with one's own stupidity. Usually, in a recital, the singing teacher introduces their pupils with the name of the song and the composer, but if the teacher cant be bothered being into foreign languages, precisely Italian which is the most important language is opera singing, well i think the teacher should give up then !! absolutely shoked !!
You can look up my own video, since I recently performed this in recital as well. Obviously, my voice is going to be different from yours as a girl, but I think it might provide a decent model for some of tips I offered before.
I'm singing a higher version o this for my recital. I think that, if you were ever to do it again, you should practice the words more. It was a very wonderful singing, but the words tend to throw people off. Like it's 'meh' in stead of 'meee'. just practice more.
I do agree this song may suit your voice in a better key.
Some tips about your vowels, since others have brought it up:
1) At times, the vowel is too spread (for instance, on the last lasciatemi.) Round the lips and the drop the jaw a little more to produce a better sound. You want the bright vowels of Italian, but they're not made by stretching the mouth from corner-to-corner. My own teacher likens the feeling to biting into an apple. Some of the upper teeth show, and this brightens the sound.
2) A few of your vowels have diphthongs, as someone pointed out with "re" pronounced as "ray". It sucks to be an English speaker singing in foreign languages sometimes, because we're so used to it, but Italian uses pure vowels. "Re" in morire is closer to "reh". This sound exists briefly in the word "chaotic", if you can isolate the sound of the "a".
Another tip is to try to concentrate on making the lips spread outward, still in a rounded O-shape, just to give them another action that shouldn't negatively impact your tone, but will keep you from collapsing the mouth and adding the diphthong.
I'd like to add that overall I think your tone is even and healthy. The rolled r's are very good, and it sounds like your t's are correct too--nice dental consonants. :)
This octave is too low for you and you were forcing the notes in your lower range. Work on the Italian. The mi is actually pronounced like the word me and the Ir is just ear and don't say ray on the Re. But other than that you did pretty good dude.
Hi, you have a nice voice ... but I think you might do better by infusing your singing with a little more passion. After all, you're passionately imploring your loved one to "let me die." As you are singing it now, you seem a little lethargic... Keep up the good work though!
***REALLY*** work your Italian vowels, and I think you have some potential more as a tenor than a baritone. Look for the same piece in Cminor and try to develop your range so you could sing an F in the fourth octave.
bro don't worry about technique 100% that comes with practice.. so basically pile up on pieces. but when u sing.. sing with bravura.. like u mean it every word he wrote. do how u want to.. and good luck :)
Hola por favor siente la letra de la musica, tienes que cantar con el corazon. Y en esta interpretaciòn realmente no me expresas el sufrimiento que de lo que dices lasciatemi morire---- Dejame morir debe salirte del alma
this was an atrocious version of this song...every note dragged from one to the other...You really need a lot more tuition mor maybe a different teacher
well i personally think it was good... then again i have to sing it for a test today and if i could do half as good as that i think i'd actually pass!
YOU need to practice better tone and vowel shaping. Not to mention rythem, PITCH, and your accent was HORRIBLE. Sorry to be so harsh but that is the way those judges are gonna say.
You've got the talent, the voice but somehow (maybe you're trying to do an opera voice) you don't show it to the public. And that's a big mistake

I think when I present this piece next time, which is in a week or so, I will introduce it with true "Leiscatime morone" style. ;)

i feel you are not thinking about the breath..
sing with it.. you are going note to note.. and it makes for a boring sound..
lighten up the weight you put on the bottom.. and this will make it easier to negotiate passagio and your top..
