@tallpaul521 I noticed that too---I own the Lombardi biography by Maraniss and Gifford autobiography, and in both Gifford quoted that-----about Lombardi, not Toots. I think Gifford got the two guys mixed up. The chapter on Toots in Gifford's autobiography is great, however. What an era.
Received the Toots DVD today and it is excellent. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a nostalgic drive through the golden age of New York. As a younger fellow, this let's me into the past and helps me see where my dad and uncle used to hang out. This movie is tops! It sure would have been nice to meet Toots. He seems like my kind of guy.
I'd love to get my hands on the DVD. I cannot find it anywhere. My dad and uncle use to Hang out wwith their buddies at Toot's place frequently. It'd be a cool memory to have the movie. It looks good! I have a TS ashtray that my mom lifted in the 60's and a menu as well.
i recently purchased on EBAY a pair of rocks glasses form the old TOOTS SHOR..i go to the The Waverly Inn every weekend..it's like the TOOTS SHOR for today's generation.
Great. I've been trying to find where the movie is playing since I learned about it in late October. I'd like to see it on the big screen - somewhere - preferably in NYC.

Superb film, get online TODAY and order your DVD copy from IndiePix!
Watched it last night; rare to see a film not hit one wrong note, but that's what happened - could not have been better produced.
My god, what a mistake his last restaurant (not the Riese chain dump on 33rd St) was.
When the party was over in the mid-sixties, boy, was it over.
Also read The New Yorker profile on Toots if you have the DVD set of past issues.

I suspect the glasses from e-bay are bootlegs.
