@Mc3ain I was pointing out that my math work's perfectly well... 5080x2560 is what you select in the game for the bezel corrected resolution, but the actual lit pixels are 4800x2560, or just right about equal to six times 1080P.
@CabhanListis In a setup specifically like this, higher resolutions bring a crisper picture. Smaller pixel pitch is also nicer than having a 2 feet in front of you and looking at what is essentially pixels the size of tumors. Also from experience, this is very good for desktop work.
Frame rate isn't very good , I understand the whole 3 screens , but I get double that frame rate with everything on ultra .. 27'' screen and only have 2 video cards and a i7 980x @4.2 ghz
@MrSypherin American schooling at its best. 3x 30" = 4800x2560 = 12,288,000 pixels. 1080P 27" = 1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels. This setup has SIX times the resolution as everyone talking about "hi-res" 1080 monitors and TV screens.
They look like utter garbage compared to something like this.
@CallsignVega Why are you bringing screen sizes into it, they have absolutely nothing to do with resolution. At all. Also I am not American, and I do have to apologise I forgot to take into account that you were using them in vertical orientation. Therefore you are right that it is 6 times the resolution, though you should try them in horizontal that's what 3 monitor set-ups are all about. being vertical you get the normal aspect ratio, which gives you no help in-game.
@Mageforthe ya i know but i was saying one monitor is good enough i mean its cool to have a 3 monitor setup but it just seems a little overkill and not too necessary for me anyways.
@CallsignVega Typical arrogance at it's best. Nothing better to do than to talk shit. Why don't you people come up with something else to say. Like how America's health care fucking DESTROYS yours.
@MrSypherin A single 30" @ 2560x1600 is about twice as much as a 27" @ 1920x1080. So let's do some math: 2 (Resolution) * 3 (Monitors) = 6 (Total Resolution)
@dark2koneko I have no idea why you are bringing inches into this, they have nothing to do with the resolution. Actually you may want to check his resolution mate, because he says he is running a total res of 5080x2560, which is 1920x1080 x 3 minus the bezel correction.
@xXSkAtTyRaTXx RESOLUTION. On one "big ass screen" you'll only get 1920x1080 pixels at most (otherwise known as 1080p). When you sit up close to that big of a screen with that *few* of pixels, you can see them all. Ever notice how recommended viewing distances for TV's are further away the bigger they are? That is why. This way, he has 5080x2560 pixels and it looks about... Hmm... 10x better. Do the math: 5080x2560 = 13,004,800 pixels. 1920x1080 = 2,073,600
@unlaughable The only curved monitor, by ostendo, has a resolution of 2880x900. Those black lines suddenly become invisible when you're playing the game, unless of course you're looking for them. If you're focused on the game (which you should be) they're irrelevant.
I currently run 3 x 30"rs for gaming, and there's just nothing like it. Ill be doing 5 soon enough for the extra immersion it'll allow me. (Number 4 is just sitting right now)
@fuzzyrhino5 If they had the QuadHDTV's out at a reasonable price with low input lag and good response time, then sure. But even then, 3x30"rs are still going to have 33.34% more resolution and be slightly wider in aspect ratio and have a taller rendering height which will make the world more crisp than a QuadHDTV.
@EpicFknBrutality If you have ever ran it you would know, though I do rather them to be horizontal not vertical. You really don't notice the black lines when focusing.
@MrSypherin That's fine and dandy, and it's really cool that the computer is even capable of stuff like this, but honestly I'd rather just keep my 37" single monitor/TV. Sure it only goes up to 1080p, but honestly that's all I need. At least I don't have to deal with the black bars. Anything over 1080p is pretty much overkill on a monitor of that size anyways. Resolution higher than 1080p only makes a significant difference on very large monitors... so why waste the extra money?
@EpicFknBrutality In my opinion it is only worth it on smaller monitors like my 24" Asus ones. Stick 3 horizontal and you get a huge amount more of peripheral vision and can see more of the game that way. Not really needed but it is awesome when playing.
@EpicFknBrutality I disagree. If I'm sitting 1'-3' from my display I don't want to be able to count the pixels on the screen. With a 37" @ 1080p I'd want to sit much further away from my setup. Pixel pitch is very important to people.
@dark2koneko I sit about 4-5 feet from the screen. I have my computer/TV set up in the corner of my room and I have a fairly small table facing it in the middle of my room in front of my recliner, my mouse and keyboard are wireless so I can move the table wherever I want. If I want to pull the table up next to my bed and relax and play Minecraft or browse the web/watch movies/Youtube, I can do so and the screen is still huge from that distance. I have no problem seeing small text.
@dark2koneko Also, I have my room set up with a 5.1ch Surround Sound system with a Pioneer Reciever with my computer's sound running directly into it, as well as my PS3 that way everything sounds legit, from playing my guitar through Amplitube on my computer to watching a movie in full surround sound.... the speakers are beast and the sub bumbs. I love this setup. It's perfect. I can sit down to it like a desktop, or chill and use it in bed like a laptop with no quality loss at all.
@EpicFknBrutality I also have a fairly decent 5.1 setup and I'd still rather sit 2 feet from my displays. I like my office chair. But to each, their own. No one is saying this is for everyone, but it's definitely cool.
@Antdemo Indeed if I wanted and even had the cash to go for such immersive gaming Id wait and waiting isn't needed anymore because they have even bigger and better screens out already the special curvy display has unlaughable ^ mentions would be so much better indeed.
@Memorikum Some people just want to get the maximum performance out of things, I do, I love maxing out my system tweaking the performance to its maximum. It's what I love and what I do. Besides that all, why not build insane overpowered computers? Some guys love fast cards and some love fast computers. Btw I can't legally shoot people in real life so there goes your go outside idea :P
@DaFish1337 There are 4K projectors for under $4000 MSRP, but..., you'd only be able to play in a dark room, and having a table in your home theater kinda ruins the experience. It's all fun and games here and there, but for gaming, one large monitor is all I need.
@xSpArTiChRiSx Are you retarded? He is playing at a 90 degree angle to the screen to allow an un-obstructed view of the screens for the camera. The video is not about demonstrating Crysis 2 "skills", whatever that may be. The video is about demonstrating the computer/screen setup.
@ExclusiveBrad Almost all of it. The games textures and information for the GPU get's inputted into each cards VRAM as copies for each GPU to work on.
@CallsignVega Apperently only 3GB, because of how SLI works it only uses the memory from one GPU. The rest of the cards only take turns rendering each frame.
@CallsignVega so you are saying that in sli the memory adds up? i've seen many pc gurus saying it does not, maybe in quad sli configuration it does, reply?
1. In a dual-GPU card, the total memory is always advertised. Half of this is for each GPU. The GPU's cannot access each other's VRAM. Ie. HD 6990 = 4GB but 2GB per GPU inside. GTX 590 = 3GB, 1.5GB per GPU.
2. In SLI/CFX, the total amount is irrelevant. The important figure is how much is on each single GPU. So 3GB here.
It is like getting four school-children to do the same assignment. Their desk-space is the memory and their assignment is to take instructions and draw a picture according to these instructions. Say one table is 1GB.
Say the instructions take up 3/4 of a table. You cannot just give the instructions to one kid. You must give it to them all.
4 kids, 4x the amount of memory but the instructions must be posted 4x (one to each child/GPU).
@ExclusiveBrad You understand that or not? In each graphics card must be provided the same information, so there are only 3 GB of VRAM can be used effectively and not 12 GB
@ExclusiveBrad Each graphics card holds all the data, all the textures and everything, so even with 4 graphics cards all of them hold all the data, they might be working on only a quarter of it but they hold all in the memory... So effectively even though they have 12GB the data held in each card is the same
@ExclusiveBrad techinically its not 12gb its actually 3gb, whenever ANY card is dumped into sli including dual gpu beasts like gtx590, the VRAM is copied to EACH of the gpus, if each card had its own dedicated gpu to work with, the fps would drop like CRAZY because the gpu'll need to talk to each other more, therefore limiting the pci express 2 slots. and vega, good job with ur build, im greeeen with envy :D
awsome! rly nice FPS for this resolution... gogo overclock gpu and cpu =D

I think its better and cheaper to use led tv or plasma

proof that a good setup doesn't mean good skills.

Crysis menu music is SO epic.

And how much of the 12GB of memory is actually being used?
ExclusiveBrad 2 months ago 4
@ExclusiveBrad Almost all of it. The games textures and information for the GPU get's inputted into each cards VRAM as copies for each GPU to work on.
CallsignVega 2 months ago 8
@CallsignVega Not really, it's a 32-bit application which means it can only address a total of 4 GB RAM, including the VRAM on the GPU
MouthofSaurons 2 months ago
@CallsignVega Apperently only 3GB, because of how SLI works it only uses the memory from one GPU. The rest of the cards only take turns rendering each frame.
myg0tpurepunk 1 month ago
@CallsignVega so you are saying that in sli the memory adds up? i've seen many pc gurus saying it does not, maybe in quad sli configuration it does, reply?
MartinP95 1 month ago
@MartinP95 No, total Video RAM frame-buffer size is the amount of the card with the lowest quantity of physical Video RAM.
IE, Frame buffer size for four 3GB GTX 580's is 3GB. Not 12GB.
CallsignVega 1 month ago 4
@CallsignVega wouldnt it be nice if you could buy one 3gb gtx 580 and 3 1.5gb gtx 580's?
TheNewbpowner123 1 month ago
@TheNewbpowner123 You can't build a PC with different cards (different video memory too)
ROBLOXrules115 1 month ago
@ROBLOXrules115 even one for dedicated physx?
jamalakj 1 month ago
@MartinP95 I do not believe people!
Rules of GPU's:
KarateKid430 1 month ago
I agree with karatekid.
As for me gtx 590 and 6990 is a fake 3gb or 4gb. Its just a marketing strategy.
1 Vram is only used even if you have 4 way SLI. Vram cannot be added or multiply bla bla.

@MartinP95
Geddit?
Have a good day!
KarateKid430 1 month ago
@ExclusiveBrad Plus Ram is dirt cheap in 2011 running sub 16gb is almost moronic due to the price range
zulizin 2 months ago
@ExclusiveBrad Why 12GB, its only 3GB VRAM 4x3GB VRAM is not 12GB its only 3GB
SapphireHD5850Xtreme 1 month ago
@SapphireHD5850Xtreme It's 12GB. Check your math a few more times.
ExclusiveBrad 1 month ago
@ExclusiveBrad You understand that or not? In each graphics card must be provided the same information, so there are only 3 GB of VRAM can be used effectively and not 12 GB
You fail ^^
SapphireHD5850Xtreme 1 month ago
@ExclusiveBrad Each graphics card holds all the data, all the textures and everything, so even with 4 graphics cards all of them hold all the data, they might be working on only a quarter of it but they hold all in the memory... So effectively even though they have 12GB the data held in each card is the same
bjuszczak6 1 month ago
@SapphireHD5850Xtreme This is correct. You do not gain 3GB for each card. It's a total of 3GB for all cards.
Divey1130 1 month ago
@ExclusiveBrad techinically its not 12gb its actually 3gb, whenever ANY card is dumped into sli including dual gpu beasts like gtx590, the VRAM is copied to EACH of the gpus, if each card had its own dedicated gpu to work with, the fps would drop like CRAZY because the gpu'll need to talk to each other more, therefore limiting the pci express 2 slots. and vega, good job with ur build, im greeeen with envy :D
Thefatcowmachine 1 month ago
@ExclusiveBrad 12 gb?dude quad sli of gtx 580 3gb means 2 gtx 580 3 gb in sli and of course 6 gb of vram 'cause gtx 580 3gb it's a dual gpu
Cristyfeature1 1 month ago
@Cristyfeature1 580's arent dual gpu....... the exception is the asus mars II but not many were made. So yes, he is right in his statement of '12GB'.
ThatAfrohGuy 1 month ago
@Cristyfeature1 They are not dual GPU cards.
