I found the first two to be equally good in terms of film quality, but the original was very special and unique unlike the second one. The third installment should focus on returning the feel of the first one, and have the audience vouch for Tony Stark again (I felt in Iron Man 2 he turned into a bit of an ass for some reason) Apart from that I have a lot of confidence in the script, especially considering the fact that its a brand new writer so it will be a fresh approach.

Iron Man and The War Machine should team up again because the Mandarin is going to be a villain in the movie. Ironman 2 just didn't cut it with me although it was still a great movie, it just didn't have the spirit that the first movie had. A bit like Terminator 2, the first film had attitude, and although the second was great, it still lacked the dark, scary attitude of the first. Sequels are tricky.

@mrd456 People still like to see their individual favorite heroes so there will always be the solo films, but also I would bet when they were making Iron Man 2 they signed the actor to a 3rd film. Take into account that Avengers is not even half finished yet and it costs more to pay a group of actors for an ensemble film than it does to pay a few for a solo film and with the CGI budgets of these films money for the actors is probably very tight.
