NOTE: For some reason, this video seems to play very slow now. I'm not sure what is causing it but it never used to be that way. I do apologize for anyone who frequents it and noticed the change as well.
Does anyone know where someone might purchase the collection these days? Is there a box set or anything like that? I remember my parents taping the episodes from tv...think I watched them so many times the tapes dont even work any more!! Would love to have them for my kids!
I was actually involved with KochVision's re-release of the series. It's out September 2nd. 7 discs with bonus features, including the lost episode "Greatest Moments" (which was my involvement, haha). Hope this helps.
Im so glad that most of you remember his show. but if you were watching it on the disney channel it was a rerun. The shows of FTT that you are watching on the Disney Channel, were actually a part of the fox sunday afternoon line up during the early to late 80's. FTT never ran past the year of 89. So if you watched it in the 90's those were all reruns.
Correct. The last episodes of FAERIE TALE THEATRE were aired in 1987. I was born in 1990 so I actually grew up with the Playhouse and CBS/FOX Videos. Then, as I got older, there were the Cabin Fever releases and the Starmaker DVDs.
Starmaker (an independent distribution company) released the series on DVD in 2004, but it is now out of print. However, you find the complete series for around $40-50 on eBay right now, and the individual episodes on video and DVD for even cheaper amounts.
Australia is finally having 4 of the original Faerie Tale Theatre tales released on DVD in January 2008! Cannot wait! Hopefully they release ALL the tales
Question guys: Did any of you get the original tape releases or the new dvd releases? A friend of my mom's gave me ALOT of the original tapes as a gift when I was a kid & I watched the ever since (I'm 21 now. Tee hee!). My oldest niece LOVES the Frog Prince episode! They should have done more stories.
I have a mix of the Playhouse, CBS/FOX, and Razz-Ma-Tazz videos, plus a few of the individually-released Starmaker DVDs. I want to collect the series on Playhouse and CBS/FOX video though because the covers were amazing and I loved how they had ACTUAL photos from the series instead of screen captures (ahem, Starmaker).
Haha, I'm inspireme21 actually. I didn't even realize I replied to your question using my other account. Anyways, I always wondered about the artists as well. I have tried a couple times to figure out who did some of the covers, but to no avail.
EEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I remember this! Thank you!!! ::Tackle,cling,hug,kiss:: I agree with retrogems. It was on Disney! I think like Sundays or weeknights. Back when the channel was good.
No problem! A lot of people tend to mention this intro so I decided I'd record a rerun and upload it. I felt it was my duty being the manager of the FTT LiveJournal, haha. Thanks for watching!
I loved this show....

So many big name stars in this, what possessed them to do it? This looks like a show that was ment for rookie actors, not veterans.

When was robin williams in an episode?
It's still scary to think that PeeWee was Pinocchio
corrupt200 4 years ago
Robin Williams was in the very first episode, THE TALE OF THE FROG PRINCE, which also starred Teri Garr and Michael Richards.

I grew up with those old Playhouse videos! The artwork on the covers was really beautiful, I wonder who did them.
