Answer to Questions:
1. I live in the upper mid-west and there is virtually no evidence of an economic downturn in my town - other than jobs are kind of scarce.
2. Abolish the fed - it's a corrupt, private monopoly that does not have to accountable to anyone.
3. If the money supply were controlled by congress instead of the fed and it was based on something of value like gold, and there were no monopolies (many smaller banks) then banks could be private institutions with little regulation.

2. The fed chairman routinely appears before congress. If there was popular will to abolish it, we could; but only a few fringe people think abolishing red would be good.
3. Enough with the gold standard already. When gold was legal tender, we had severe recessions also, and a depression. Think the Fed is corrupt? Try controlling international metal traders and mining cartels.
