  • Ha...First video I've ever seen with an Acela locomotive pulling Amfleet cars. Does that happen often?

  • @cuznvinnie818 Actually this is not an the main Acela locomotive you are thinking off, this locomotive is an Acela Hhp-8 locomotive that is double headed, if you look closely unlike the one headed Acela Express trains that have 6 cars and two locomotives. This Amtrak train is just a regional train. Therefor it only pulls Amfleet coach cars. I hope this clarifies things for you :)

  • thats the ONLY high speed rail in the us rite now

  • YEP, that was DAMN fast!!!

  • Isn't that dangerous for a train to go so fast along a platform?

  • @HungryGuyStories your going to die

  • thanks for uploading

  • That sounded unworldly...

  • How fast was he goin?

  • @traindude80 That train looks like it's pushing the 125 mph limit.

  • I didn't know that the Acela engines could pull the standard passenger cars...thats strange seeing it without another engine on the back and going that fast haha

  • that was an engine similar to the acela engines. It is not quite as aerodynamic as the acela engines and has controls at both ends. It is also more powerful because like you said each acela trainset has 2 engines. But they look extremely similar especially at high speeds. If you want more info on them look up HHP-8. There pretty cool locomotives.

  • That's an Acela HHP-8. The HHP-8's are normally commuters while the regular ones are for more long distances.

  • It's not an Acela power car it's an HHp-8 locomotive from Bombardier they were created because of the Acela project however the HHp-8's are not on any Acela serivces

    it's a common mistake

  • Was that an HHP-8 lead'in?

  • Yup

  • No horn?

  • No, it isn't computerized. I think they start braking once they pass a certain milepost because they know where all the stations are compared to the mileposts. I am not sure though.

  • trying 2 anyway

  • He was definitely going 125!

  • i may be wrong but they cannot go 125 past a station. and anyways it stops at the next station 2 miles away.

  • Acelas go 150 past Kingston station in RI. 2 miles might be enough time to stop it. I'm pretty sure it can stop in 2 miles from 110.

  • cool amtrak regional i'm not sure on the locomotive but is it a hhp8 or something like that was that train heading into boston or out of boston?

  • The engine is an HHP-8. I don't know what direction he was heading though because I don't live here.

  • alright cool i was right about the locomotive a HHP-8 THOUGH

  • it was traveling inbound towards Boston
