Muscle cars get a hemi 440 straight up, or most of them anyway, imports get a crappy plastic V8 that you have to spend a million bucks to upgrade ten thousend times so that you can finally hit 210 MPH. A speed that a 440 hemi could hit n' go with no problem. So those cars you call "fag-mobiles" (Lame) are actually faster without that many upgrades required. And the best part is, unlike your play toys you seem to love so much, muscle cars aren't made out of plastic.

i think its great to see these retro muscle cars because they are based on an era of cars that had real character during the late 60's and 70's, so they end up being a car with real personality but with the bonus of modern enginering

As for speed, being 6.1L based as the Charger / 300 SRT8, it's not going to be that fast. I've seen videos of quarter mile runs, you can probably even find here on youtube with a newer stock Mustang GT being able to pull ahead. Hell the new V6 Mustang, a practically stock one was able to tie in with the 5.7L HEMI.

Look at the stats. The engine that is in all SRT8's is the 6.1L 425hp Hemi. DCX is right when he says that all the new Challenger is is a rebodied Charger and the curb weight of the new Charger is 4140lbs, not 36-3700. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the styling and would get one in a heartbeat if I had the money. But me being a Ford guy I'd have trouble justifying paying so much for an SRT8 when I could get a GT500 or soup up a normal GT.
ok the challenger shares the same PLATFORM as the charger!!! but the body mihght be lighter, the interior might be lighter, the charger is 4 door, the challenger is 2 etc. i think the challenger will be lighter than the charger for sure!

The Old ones, yes. Don't underestimate the new ones. They are equipped with independent rear suspensions and limited slip differentials , tracktion control, etc. well most of them are, not the new mustang. Don't get caught up in the stereotype thet american cars handle like crap. because they don't anymore.
its too bad that they failed at bringing back the muscle car. muscle cars used to be, in essence, cheap speed. now the cars just dont stack up. I'm all for muscle cars, but only the old ones. back then you couldnt find an import that made even half the hp of muscle cars, today they're on par with fugly interiors and they weight a good 500-1000 lbs more.

i really dont thinkwe are running low on gas. i think its greed. I really do. sure gas isnt a renewable resource and we are running out of it but there are ways to make it more efficent and last longer the problem is, as soon as someone comes out with something like that, the fuel companies buy them out or sue them. And emmisions and green house gasses? come on. styraphome and plastics produce more gasses than an old 429Ci big block.

Bringing the muscle car back from the dead isn't gonna solve Ford's or Chevrolets problems. They need to stop designing UGLY cars. It seems like they are experiencing designers-block. Japanese cars are very stylish....lets see American designers come up wit a 2007 Civic design or similar rather than the ugly boxy looking cars they are stuck on and nobody wants.

Gas Guzzling? My ls1 SS just got 29.3mpg on a trip to SC and back. Thats not bad considering the performance. I had a RX7 that got 12-16 and it was still slow (non turbo).

I just looked it up to make sure and nowhere could I find a time under 4.7seconds even though Dodge only claims "close to 5 seconds". Not that it really matters though. I just wish I had $45k to spend, let alone on a car....

Honestly i am a master tech for GM and now work for the NHRA. You probably drive a civic back in the 60's and 70's these cars were the top in the world and now days the new 2008 camaro concept has 500 rear wheel horses stock imports can barely push 200 horses and thats with turbos and upgrades. so i think i will stick with my rice eating American Muscle.

i have a challenger reserved for feb. 2008, i'm a mopar man, but yes.. the camaro will be putting out a lot of power as well, and as for the mustang... i think ford can just stay sitting on their hands.
i would pre-order a camaro as well, but it just doesnt give a mean muscle look as much as a muscle car transformed into an exotic..
either way, no better way than american muslce.

The Old ones, yes. Don't underestimate the new ones. They are equipped with independent rear suspensions and limited slip differentials , tracktion control, etc. well most of them are, not the new mustang. Don't get caught up in the stereotype thet american cars handle like crap. because they don't anymore.

its too bad that they failed at bringing back the muscle car. muscle cars used to be, in essence, cheap speed. now the cars just dont stack up. I'm all for muscle cars, but only the old ones. back then you couldnt find an import that made even half the hp of muscle cars, today they're on par with fugly interiors and they weight a good 500-1000 lbs more.

i really dont thinkwe are running low on gas. i think its greed. I really do. sure gas isnt a renewable resource and we are running out of it but there are ways to make it more efficent and last longer the problem is, as soon as someone comes out with something like that, the fuel companies buy them out or sue them. And emmisions and green house gasses? come on. styraphome and plastics produce more gasses than an old 429Ci big block.

Bringing the muscle car back from the dead isn't gonna solve Ford's or Chevrolets problems. They need to stop designing UGLY cars. It seems like they are experiencing designers-block. Japanese cars are very stylish....lets see American designers come up wit a 2007 Civic design or similar rather than the ugly boxy looking cars they are stuck on and nobody wants.

id rather have a new challenger.i drive a civic and if i want to go remotely quick i have to go above 5000 rpm's.thats wasting gas.the low end torque and gearing on muscle cars allow them to move quite quickly at even 3000 rpm's.the civics ok but itll never compare to a muscle car.new or old...

i'll take classic american muscle over an import anyday, on long trips, my 65 mustang does better on gas than my damn corolla 4-banger...and which car looks and sounds a hell lot better with the pedal to the floor and the engine screamin'? my only problem with the new mucle cars is all the plastic...it just feels so cheap

Gas Guzzling? My ls1 SS just got 29.3mpg on a trip to SC and back. Thats not bad considering the performance. I had a RX7 that got 12-16 and it was still slow (non turbo).

Example 1969-1971 Dodge Charger RT. It would be nice time to have own 1971 Dodge Charger RT in good condition.
Most of new cars and motorcycles doesnt look so good than 1969-2001 year models.
