Wow, people are leaving such idiotic comments! "this is ugly!" "you bought a fucking mac!?" "the shader is wrong!"
Anyway, that's cool dude, old video so I bet you're pretty good with Unity now if you stuck to it. I'm working with Unity now, buying licenses, softwares and hardware is just normal when you're working on decent projects, it's a worthy investment and I read you say you've made over 50k euros so that's pretty awesome! I just thought I'd leave a decent comment for a change.
This was made before Unity got popular. I did it to bring the engine to the attention of other people. Have a look at my more recent work for stuff which is orders of magnitude more impressive than this.
Can you make whole levels in 3ds max and import them as FXB???? I'm sorry if it seems like a goofy question, but I'm used to using '3d Gamestudio' and have grown tiered of the BSP editors!!
Since then I've made over £50k working with this program. You need to be able to tell when it's worth splashing out for this sort of thing. In this case it was a no brainer.
help me please can i have a direct download link to the software you used ( 3d studio max pleeaseasease il sub you!!! ) or anyone else that see's this comment??
@samsnowball I guess you are not aware of the fact that 3ds max is not legally available for free... And unless you got a few thousand bucks to spend or are a student (still more than $1000) use free 3d apps like Blender instead.
the entire landscape and picture as a whole would look better if the textures and models were more detailed so there wasn't such a contrast between the land and sky.
@ImSpartan9 To make grass: create a terrain, select the terrain in the hierarchy, select place plants(flower icon), click edit details, then add grass texture, then for the detailed texture select grass, click add, then paint grass on the terrain
That's correct, fraps doesn't work on the mac. Unity, back when it was mac only, could still publish content to windows. The only machine fast enough to record the footage was my laptop (win xp).
Oh yah i forgot about that. But the Mac wasn't fast enough to record? Screenflow is my personal favourite and takes up hardly any CPU, try it out if you haven't already :)
I taught myself everything I know about 3D. Currently it's my full time job at an educational establishment in the UK. Because I'm getting so many questions I can see that a tutorial would be useful to a lot of people. I'll be sure to post one on my blog in the near future.
youtube should give one "asshole" star and one "genius" star that youg et to give out every week, seeing as it may be impossible to kick jelleoelle's ass in real life
I've had a lot of experience but a newcomer should also be able to pick it up fairly quickly. Unity 3D is meant to speed up development, it's very well documented has some useful tools.
Well, it's something I knocked up in a few hours as a test. The terrain engine is fantastic; quick and easy to work with. If it looks like a game from five years ago that's fine by me, I didn't invest that much emotion into it. ;]

It's a shame, the engine is rather good. You'd probably like Unreal but the content can't be delivered via a browser.
