Of course, I loved the movie Heavy Metal, but the choice of music was strange. The only REAL metal band in the soundtrack was Black Sabbath! Don Felder (featured here) was once part of the Eagles! And what are Stevie Nicks, Journey, Donald Fagen (part of Steely Dan) and even Devo doing in the soundtrack? (For the record, Blue Öyster Cult preferred to think of themselves as "pseudo-metal".)
Still, even if it isn't REALLY metal, it was good music. :)
@TheOtherOTHEROp Well, back in 1981 except for iron maiden black sabbath and a few others (motorhead, accept and such) there wasn't a lot of heavy metal..
@TheOtherOTHEROp remember, the movie is based upon the Magazine Heavy Metal. Great music choices, and in all honesty, probably the best of any movie out there.
I don't know wat the fuck I'm watching but it's fucking awesome, and by the way if someone cud please tell me the name of this movie I wud like to c it
I sucks because I was 13 back in Aug 1981 when this came out in the Theaters. It had a R rating . I went to see some dumb movie with Gary Coleman(cant remember the name of it) in it at the same time HM was playing.Me and my friends should have tried to sneek in and see It even if it was halfway finished.

Man this movie had alot of death in it. One of the few movies that can creep you out but still leave you feeling entertained, especially when your 6 years old.
ya i saw it too back when it hit theaters, then when VHS tapes came out this movie was MIA you were lucky if you had a copy of this movie because only Cinemax was showing it.
and if yoiu had a machine capable of TRUE HI-FI Sterao you had an ace copy.
id like to see a HD version of this video 1280 x 720 upload stats will give the 720 button BRAVO!
I saw this in a movie theater in 1995. It was outstanding to see on the big screen. After the lights came up you could see where at least 6 people puked in their seats =D .
FUCK EVERYONE!!! I SAW THIS IN A THEATER IN BROOKLYN NEW YORK...ON FLATBUSH AVENUE IN 198MOTHER FUCKING 1....ACROSS FROM THE WEED SPOT! CAN YOU RELATE PARK SLOPE??? OR WAS IT JUST ME FROM BED STUY.BFS OLD SCHOOL......
This is my favorite song from the soundtrack, and I always found it odd that it isn't the opening song to the movie, where it would have fit better.(opinion) Rader Rider was still a kick-ass song, but I think it could've been worked in somewhere else.
How could the music industry create such an epic failure by straying so far away from music that make you feel like you're "on top of the world", to something that makes you feel like "less then zero" every time you hear it on the radio which could eventually lead to tolerance, probably through repeat exposure and then through increased dosage over time until you are "comfortably numb" like Prozac. How could they do this to us?
How could anyone not like this? Anyone who admires Ayn Rand, and is not Ayn Rand, is by definition an Ayn Rand wannabe. If more people wanted to be like her this world would be a much better place!
I remember my dad watching this a long time ago (when I was around 5-7)..whenever I see the South Park episode based on this or hear this song, I immediately remember it.
