how tall is he? in hands?? he's absoloutly adorable!! i would love to see him all done up in hunter braids xD that would be hilarious, heheheee have you thouhgt about taking him in working hunter classes once he gets all trained up?? i think he would do okay!! that would be so cuuuute
omg i have allways wanted a ZEBRA cince i saw the vid racing stripes you should make him train for races then take him to 1 if theyll let you enter or bring him to the uk :D
I have heard that zebras spines are not meant to hold the weight of a human and it can be bad for their backs? Obviously you are riding him...have you heard anything on this?
I'm very impressed with your work with this zebra who does seem to have a lovely sweet temperament. He just pricks his ears while you do all that work with him.
@xmrsxmansonx Zebras are very strong animals, much more like donkeys than horses as far as strength goes. While I wouldn't recommend having a zebra cary too much weight or carry it for too long (I know, it is clearly open to interpretation, but each animal and person and situation are different), Most can comfortably carry more pound per pound than a horse.
Respond to this video... Yes, he is for sale, but I won't be disappointed if he stays right where he is. I am having a lot of fun with him and would like to continue training him.
Not going to lie, at first I was skeptical that it was a bit wrong considering they aren't in their natural environment, but he's completely trusting of you!
@xDemonFillyx It really depends on several factors, the most being how I treat eveyone else. I try to come into the situation prepared, show up early, let people know the zebra is there and if possible, I try to have him clearly visible right away. I answer peoples questions and talk to them. The last thing I want to do is surprise somebody's horse or be rude or secretive. It makes people defensive. Horses are generally afraid of my zebras at first, but most get used to them quickly.
dude what if you totally trained one of these to be a hunter jumper?! i would be like at the shows with my zebra all like "Dude. Check it. Zebra." haha that would be beast
@HorsecrazyMare I have been training him for jumping. We are now jumping 2'8" comfortably and reliably. I posted a couple pictures on my site, just look up zebra guru.
@mulyt He is in training, I will post more videos as he progresses. He can jump while cantering and do a course. It is funny when I post training videos, everyone wants the finished product first, LOL...we are getting there!
they are beautiful i didnt actualy think you could ride one i ride horses but your amasing with them keep up the good work :) i wish i could buy one lol :) x
Wow. Absolutely amazing! If I lived somewhere warmer, I'd most deffinitely get one. Alas, I live in Canada, so I'll just stick to my horses x) But what a lovely boy!
@Sessake um idk for the same reason we go out of our way to try and stop excessive breeding of horses because if they don't have another use they will die. horse slaughter was outlawed so now its either die hungry or die after a long painful, scary journey because there are too many horses. well zebra's are the same too many breeding programs in zoos are now producing too many male zebras so they either die to feed something or they get a chance by becoming tamed to ride.
@Sessake um i said too many zebras in zoos. the breeding programs are producing too many male zebras and not enough females so the males are either turned into lion food (not literally that i know of) or they must be tamed to ride or do something useful so yeah too many in zoos. read and understand the whole post before telling someone they are wrong even if you do it in a 'nice' way its still considered rude especially if they aren't wrong and i have someone i know in AI breeding programs@a zoo
@Sessake sometimes you can't find everything on the internet, you have to look in the real world. For example, call up pretty much any zoo and ask them if they have room for a male zebra.
@Sessake again i said MALE zebras and no i can't because i'm not citing from a website or such i'm telling you what a friend of mine , who works in the AI (artificial insemination) program for the US. she is privy to almost all information that has to do with the AI program whether it be lions, zebras, or sloths if they use AI to impregnate a female then she knows not just how healthy the baby is when its born but what gender, weight, and how much of the term it was carried for full or partial.
i just had this sudden thought of showing up with a zebra on a trail ride of many different breeds of horses. *blushes* sorry, but that would not only be cute but funny as well. needless to say i am impressed
@horsesaremylife31899 I train zebras and exotic animals as well as horses and other domestic animals. Zack is an awesome zebra, but my favorite is Charlie, I drive him.
@4hoovesnstripes i have a few questions. is taking care of a zebra like a horse. and what are your other animals you keep at the barn and what do you do with them.
@iwishihadpets Care of zebras is pretty much the same as that of horses, good hay, free choice water, salt/mineral access with feed in the form of grain or pellets when necessary. Vaccination and worming schedules vary, we usually send off a fecal check and find that our zebras rarely need deworming. There are a variety of animals that we keep, including zebras, zebra hybrids, a bear, camel, lemurs and various other animals. Many of our animals are used for educational purposes.
I like how the gal caresses, talks sweetly, and try to comfort the zebra as she handles him. I wish all bosses at work would try to comfort their subordinates as they managed their subordinates.
I saw a youtube video that told me that zebras are too mean to domesticate or ride and I believed it. You all just totally shattered that myth in my mind.
It also appears to me that the male voice behind the camera results in less crude comments from male viewers to the lady handling the zebra. Wishing you all well.
