@junkhead27 Yeah...this song was an older Nirvana song that Kurt had from the days that Chad was in the band, and it went by the name Sappy. They performed it live a bunch, and I think they recorded a few different versions of it over the years. This particular version is an outtake from the In Utero sessions. For whatever reason, he decided to change the title to Verse Chorus Verse, not to be confused with the unfinished Nevermind outtake of the same name :)
Even if this song was written about a pet turtle, there is so much emotion and im sure so much symbolism to this song. all in all this is such a powerful song.
You can tell the greatness of a band by the quality of their rarities and b-sides, like The Beatles, Nirvana's rarer songs are better than most band's singles

@meph1975 dude calm down, is it that funny? did you read that on the internet and assume it's true? 'he' in the song is kurt, and the person he's talking about is his pet turtle which he kept in his laundry room. he thks the turtle might be sick, but he can't work out if is or if it's actually happy, so the songs called sappy. just my opinion, but if you look at it my way the lyrics make a hell of alot more sence compared to your definition haha. kurt can be pretty simple, don't dig too deep

@trappedunderice24 I actually like your theory that the lyrics were, at least in part, inspired by his pet turtles :) "He'll give you breathing holes, then you'll think you're happy/You're living in a laundry room" - It makes sense to me. I think that a lot of his lyrics were probably more about the people, places and things in his life than he cared to admit in interviews, but that's just my personal theory. I think I like the song even MORE now, regardless of whether it's true or not :)
