So bright. Don't dismiss him simply because he has a poshy-syrupy voice. He's talking about compensating people for sacrifices in lifestyle for the sake of sustainability and conservation; making conservation profitable for low income people. It's an exchange. He owns a farm. Small farms must be sustainable, they must "behave" almost like terrariums, if they're to be efficient and affordable. I say, lock "Blur" in a room for a week with pen + paper. World problems solved. "Think Tank", indeed...
Look at 3.45. The presenter asks Alex: " How green are you"? His response: "..erm..not very ". What the fuck is this utter arsehole on about then?? Honestly! Is he that thick??
My little sister is having her sweet sixteen on my dad's boat-Key west to Miami. I asked the captain if we could only use 2 of the 4 engines to stop help global warming. He said he would think about it. Wow! See we can all do out part to save the planet. Also my mom drives her Hummer a lot slower when she uses it. We can all do our part!!!
@Stratoszero He actually seems like a "quality vs. quantity" type of guy. Give him a smidgeon of fine cheese over a gallon of "Velveeta", anyday. I also suspect he'd support artisan creators over non-descript, low quality mass production. Anyhow, a carbon exchange program would encourage wealthy people to make more thoughtful consumption choices. They'd have a clear picture of how much environmental impact their lifestyles have on the World. It's about information = Knowledge.Don't fear the info.
@caymanpeg At present, rich people have most advantages of consumption. As the poor don't match rich in consumption (or they wouldn't be poor), it's an interesting idea to offer compensation for their perpetually low carbon footprint; compensating for sacrifice. Low consumers pass along a positive externality to the rest of us who share Earth's resources. It's about assigning proper value to things. Everyone values clean air and water, even if they don't realize it. And value influences markets.
it's bull. it's like a rich guy paying other people to starve so that he can gorge himself on their food. in other words, it supports rich privelege, absolving them from using more than their fair share, and anyone in the lower classes who supports this is an idiot.

Gaud... I've never witnessed such insanity before... These people can't really be serious... lol
They could really do the world a favour and reduce their carbon footprints to Zero, if they'd only just hold their breath long enough... Hahahaha
