Thank you Joyce. I too am trying to learn how to d.i.y. warp a loom and your video has added greatly to my understanding. I appreciate your calm delivery!
@lauraredmond2 Wow, thanks Lauraredmond. :D Weaving should be relaxing and never frustrating, although it can get that way sometimes especially when making a mistake in threading heddles LOL...so just take your time. Double check yourself as you go, never rush the process and never, never warp when you are tired. :D Think happy thoughts when weaving as whatever mood you're in WILL be reflected in your work. ;)
I want to thank you for doing this video. I had always wanted a loom and was finally lucky to come across one locally. Even though I was reading the books the info was just not making any since as to how to thread this thing. You video clarified so much for me in that 14 minutes. Thanks again
@shilohart Thanks for writing and you're so much welcome. Congrats on the loom! I know how exciting it is. Depending on your loom and where it's most comfortable to reach the heddles, that will determine which way you'll be warping. Which way is easier to reach them? From the Front? then you'll warp back to front. I have videos on that too. First you beam and -then- you thread the heddles and the reed.
Loving your videos! My mother and grandmother have always had looms. Fairly simple two harness with 8dpi reeds, on which they made rugs to sell. I've finally hoooked myself up with a 4 harness with a 1 dpi. The only drawback is that it is a table loom and only 12 inches wide. I don't even have it totally warped yet, and I've already told my husband I'm ready to go bigger and wider. I think a 30 inch table loom would suit me fine.
@futuradeej1 Thank you! :D The floor loom you see here is 30" wide so you get an idea of the space. I started out with a child's 10" loom. I was hooked, so I can relate to your situation. ;) This loom is way easier to warp front to back than back to front, it just depends on the loom. Find which direction is easiest for you to reach the heddles. If you can reach them easily from the front then warp back to front.
Hope to see you on Facebook where we'd love to see what you make! :D
@CathyWeaves Thank you! There was lots more that I wanted to include but being limited to only 15 minutes, I had to do a lot of editing and cut a lot of stuff out.
