Brings back memories of my private school days. I remember a classmate of mine did not graduate because her skirt was above the kneeline. My private school did a lot of things and was good at covering them up also such as a gay man being kicked out for being gay and a priest touching kids. I bet this story will get thrown under a rug also.

They are very good at cover-ups is right. I noticed that when a few years back all of those priests got in trouble for screwing around with kids and they basically buried it and swept everything under the rug. The law system seemed to accomodate them as well. I didnt see any of the jail time that was deserving or would have been handed out to anyone else.

I'm Catholic and this is pretty bogus, I can 100% say that this is just out-dated bull shit. Especially since this kid went to his GFs school, he shouldn't be punished. Public school is where it's at, it's cheaper and much more "life-like". Hopefully this economy can get rid of more of these Catholic school cuz they are closing like crazy right now.

But the principal signed off on the release. THEN went to the church council and they decided to expel him, but realized that it might not go too well but tuned it down to suspension.

The best part is his graduating class is apparently 4 people strong. Believe me I will make fun of that.

I was just reading about this and suspending and not letting him go to his own graduation because he went to his girlfriends prom is seriously really fucking stupid! I don't give a crap what rules are in this school. There is no rule in life saying you can't dance or attend someone elses prom!. I attend a Catholic Highschool which is a normal highschool like anything else.

It really is unfair punishment. I agree with you. If the kid made it all the way through school, and to graduation, they should let the kid graduate with his class. It's total bullshit. The fucking kid even went as far to write a letter asking if he could attend his girlfriends prom. These rules are archaic and bullshit. People that actually observed them used to get married at 16, this kid is gonna be 18 and cant even hold a fucking hand. Unreal.

I had heard a little bit about this entire situation, and I find it completely ridiculous. He knew beforehand what the rules were, but the rules are overbearing and incoherent with today's culture. It is 2009. Someone please remove the stick from their asses. Shit like this is the reason my mother wouldn't let me go to church as an impressionable child, and yes, our public schools suck. I, personally, was written up for the first time my senior year for "skipping for educational purposes."

There's a lot of schools like that in the midwest/bible belt. It's a dick move by the school, but as long as it's not publicly funded I don't really care about them. I'll never send my kids there and advise my friends never to send their kids to those schools, but like all non-government funded institutions they'll phase themselves or change unless enough people support them. Personally i think more private institutions are needed because the public schools are failing miserably.

I agree, if they are privately funded, there really isn't much to complain about. The parents must have knew the rules before they enrolled their son. I, like you, agree it's just a dick move. Funnily enough, my college roommate agrees with you on the public school system, he is a teacher in it, The only reason he hasnt left to teach privately is that the salaries for private teachers is paltry compared to public school, and he now has tenure.
