If you hate me, hate me, if they want you to break me, love is for the weak. And the restless, relief in the end. A broken lock and a twisted dream. \m/
Being a hardcore SA fan, I have to say Unia is not their best, but, Paid in Full, Caleb and a few others are really good songs. I just miss the old SA who had intense guitar and keyboard solos and killer vocals. Anyone who says their latest albums (Unia and Days of Grays) have anything on Ecliptica and Silence are liars. Period.
@StewieSwan Suppose that was your first SA experience, huh? Suppose you've never seen them play their earlier stuff live? Suppose if that was the case...I'd still like Days of Grays more. :L
@Lun3thtehgamer No. I was into SA before Unia came out. I stand by what I said. It's a prog-power masterpiece IMO. Verse chorus verse chorus song structures bore me.
@Lun3thtehgamer these albums have totally different styles than the previous ones, so I don't think how you can actually compare them. The old ones are better in some points of views, the newer ones are better in other ones.

you are wrong whe miss the old sonata because many of us loved sonata and his style with hard solos with guitar and keyboards combinations and slow songs too with a good melody but the new sonata dont have this things and we miss it, since there are popular they have changed only ecliptica and silence where good CD's
that is all, i had heard sonata since many years and i can see the diffence from what is commercial music and what is not
and obviusly without jani sonata is nothing NOTHING!
When people complain SA died since Unia came out, due to not having "hardcore guitar songs"... I look at this song, black and white, and a few others on this album and raise an eyebrow.
I just tend to ignore them, honestly if the REMIX of Wolf And Raven had a different name and lyrics, with same tune/sound people would LOVE it. It is just too many people fall under the "They changed it so it sucks" category, even if it's just a little.
Reading over the lyrics of this song has brought an image to my mind: there was a man who was in a relationship with 11 (wo)men at once, but none of them really meant anything to him. Number 9 was rebellious though, and ran away from him, and in frusteration he killed all of the others in his search for Number 9. When he found him/her instead of killing them, he pretended to love them, but eventually fell in love himself. Than, knowing that he was a threat, killed him. That, or betrayed him.
When i bought the CD and put played it @ our car my mum was like, 'WTF? Got some Bohemian Rhapsody heritage.' Later on a read a few reviews about Unia, all mentioning tha same, the read an interview with Tony, needles to say (write), stating the obvious; he was greatly influenced by Queen during this session. Btw the We Will Rock You stuff @ live shows proves the same. :)
Like this even more complex SA (since I like Queen, Savatage and stuff) :D.
well it's about something like 11 clones and the "narrator" is probably their master and he taught them how to be probably criminals or something like that. One day he decided it was time to choose the best so he left a bait to encourage them to leave his castle so they all went out under the sun and i guess he killed them (11 little littermate all anihilate) but "number 9" waited for the moon to escape and after 1:42 it's number 9 who speaks but i don't know to whom.
i always figured this was some kinda acadamy and one day the founder noticed one of the students(number 9) and saw how smart and minipulative he had became, just like the master and the master feared that the student would overrun him and steal his thunder so he went mad and started killing off all the students except for number 9 who escaped the master. but i guess you could interprate it any way u like.
AMAZING !!! Beautiful composition, real music ;)

I used to be one of those, but Calebs solo is one of the most difficult solo's sonata arctica
