  • @DominicanMestizo Actually, Anna Maria Horsford's mother is Dominican, born in Santo Domingo. Her father is Antiguan.

  • I Love Dominicans & Blacks :D <33

  • DUH!!! jus go to D.R. theres all kinds of shades over there . IM dominican and in my family theres really white looking people and really dark people and everything in between. Even if u go to puerto rico, cuba, venezuela, mexico u will definetly find people of all shades.

  • @bella24bebe Just like blacks in the USA. Some are dark-skinned, some are light-skinned.

  • @tolldoll100 Most of Dominican Republic is mixed race NOT black. They never had the one drop rule. They had the reverse one drop rule.

Most of DR's population is of Afrodescent in varying degrees. But having some Afro ancestry does not automatically make one "black". DR definitely is an Afrodiasporoc country.

And you are right about so called blacks in the USA and variation in colors and skin tones

  • Society has taught us that being black is bad...not only Dominicans think so... think it's everywhere...it's a damn shame cause we africans have contributed greatly to culture everywhere we've stepped. Society has taught us to hate ourselves unfortunately I consider everyone who denies their heritage ignorant...and am Dominican of English, Hatian, and Taino descendent. BEING BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL.

  • Mami, you and your family are too beautiful! I'm black, my mom is Dominican and my father is Costa Rican. Afro-latinos have contributed so much to various Latin American cultures and I thought your video was a good reflection of that.

Pero, dimelo. Como se llama la cancion que se toca? Me encanta.

  • I am NOT Hispanic lol! I was just saying! Yes a lot of this music comes from Jamaican reggae and it is just sung in Spanish! True, I was just trying to say that this version is coming from Panama!

In fact this music is the root and origin of REGGAETON! Reggaeton originated in Panama!

El General is Panamanian and he is the father of reggae in Spanish and Reggaeton! He is a Panamanian of Colombian, Jamaican, and Trinidadian descent!

  • @chsn09 One of the roots. Plena is but one of the roots of Reggaeton

  • @Salsassin Lol! Yeah I know! But then again how would you describe Plena? I mean I heard reggaeton beats similar to the modern day one in Panama as early as the 1980s in one song! I forgot the artist! As far as I learned or heard reggaeton had it's roots among Panamanians and plena and they called it petroleo, then Puerto Ricans took an interest and put their influence and then history put reggaeton on the map!

  • @chsn09

Plena is Reggae in Spanish in Panama. Reggaeton took Plena (especially Dem Bow), Hip Hop, R & B and electronica in Spanish, as well as Puerto Rican Bomba, and fused it together to make Reggaeton. They are not the same thing.

  • @Salsassin Well Dem Bow is a Jamaican track riddim by Shabba Ranks! But what about the snare drum? That was incorporated into Reggaeton as well! Reggae en espanol or Panamanian reggaeton was more reggaeish while Puerto Rican reggaeton was more hip hopish! But I have heard similar beats that were a percursor to modern day Reggaeton from the late 1980s! I think the artist where I heard a beat sounding like modern reggaeton base was Apacheness! I will go find it because I know I saw it!

  • @chsn09 ok basically Reggaeton is a branch off of Jamaican music. It is Panamanian and was created by the Jamaicans who lived there. This song is the CLOSEST thing to the original style of Reggaeton. Puerto Ricans changed it a bit and made it hyper but its all the same. Her pattern is Jamaican as she used the typical Jamaican tempo in rapping, check out Shabba is Mr.Lover man you will think you are listening to the male version. But we are ALL black and all caribbean so its all one love.

  • @Xaymaicana Reggaeton definitely does have reggae influence from reggae and more specifically the reggaeton beat. There was some original Reggaeton in Panama that sounded very much like modern reggaeton but in a classical early stage form.

Puerto Ricans definitely did change it up a bit by adding other influences and having a little more hip hop in it.

El General is the Panamanian father of reggaeton.

Caribbean is a mixture of different groups though and races. Not just black. Just saying.

  • @Salsassin yeah, so when you are ready to show your racist ass towards BLACK PEOPLE REMEMBER ALL OF THOSE GENRES ARE BLACK. r&b, hip hop, BOMBA, SOMBA, REGGAE AND REGGAETON. you racist motherfuckers

  • @Salsassin

LMFAO you were the one that blocked me FROM YOUR PAGE because I thought you didn't really SHOW a lot of variety of DOMINICANS hell I didn't even diss you. But you are truly a dumb ass for blocking ANYONE that does not agree with you. And I did read the description BUT I THOUGHT you said it VARIES FROM REGION but yet however, it was IRONIC because I saw almost the same SKIN COLORS and that's what I MEANT. YOU FOOL.

  • Baller thank you VERY much atleast someone is educated.

  • Yes true lol! The origin of this music which is known as "reggae en espanol" or reggae in Spanish has roots from Jamaicans who sang their music in Spanish and eventually incorparated it into a predominantly Hispanic culture and it became something else!

  • yo no soy gringa...soy Africana! BIG UP!

  • dominicaNS r afro and mullato sorry whites arnt allowed

  • True that! That is the real DR!

  • me gusta esta cancion... ke es el nombre?

  • Esta cancion es por La Atrevida ! Esto es un cancion de reggae en espanol panameno!

  • Esta cancion es por La Atrevida ! Esto es un cancion de reggae en espanol panameno!

  • I am a African-American teen and I think that its really cool that in the Dominican Republic there are people that look just like me, but they speak another language. i can go to DR and be comfortable because I wont feel like a stranger, i plan on moving somewhere in the Carribean when i am older...And one more thing, this just shows that any person of African descent living in America, Latin America or anywhere else, will always search for their identity..Go MORENAS!!!!

  • Yes, but unfortunately Dominicans son t think they are black or of African descent !

  • i wanna be dominican..........all my latino gente are the best

  • ahhhhhh your white spanish slave masters have done well so called dominicans are a joke.."dont you see i am a whiteman??..lolol you wish you where but guess what your not white..bleach that skin

  • Comment removed

  • @fddjdmjm

No offense but it sounded like you were dissing your mom?! Lol

And is your mother a Cocolo/Guloyas! Because San Pedro de Macoris is known for the Cocolos/Guloyas

  • No yo Im not dissing her I love ma mom more dan anyone can ever Imagine Im juss beeing truthful Cuz She From San Pedro nd most of ppl dere are like tht &+ Noo She Aint Guloya ;; Dass beautiful Doe.

  • Are you sure you were not dissing your mom cuz that is what it sounded like!

And San Pedro de Macoris is known for the cocolos! I bet your mother is a cocola?!

  • nice vid . i wish Afrovenezolanos had pride lyke that . o well im afrolatina nnd proud.

  • OH what country is your afro latina heritage from?

  • whats the name of the song?

  • But there are many dominicans that deny they do have black ancestors or hate it when u ask them if they r black.. But overall one needs to knw where his or her roots r from and acknowledge it..

  • lStep up to the 21st century. Dominicans have the mindset of Black Americans from the 1030's:

"If you're white, you're all right, if you're brown stick around and if you're black, stay back". The PBS series the AMERICAS really informed me of Dominican attitudes (sad). Accept what you are! Don't linger in this cesspool of ignorance.

  • I'm African American and I'm learning Spanish and I traveled to the DR this summer for a vacation. The people there asked me "over and over" if I was Dominican.

If the Dominicans can't tell the difference between themselves and an African American, why do so many say they are not Black?

In the United States, I'm seen as being Black, an African American can pass in the DR if their Spanish is good enough and they speak the dialect.

  • I know ! I think what it is is that, they have a hate for things black and also because of the Haitians who identified as black and ruled the DR territory until 1844. Haiti also continued to invade DR, and so therefore they have had to keep a unique identity that had continuity to being independent of Haiti, a rebellious, badly ruling country/government ! DR did not want to be associated as HAITIAN. And then considering it was very mixed race, that contributed to denial of blackness as well !

  • And then Dominicanos say they are not black in the U.S. to be differentiated from African Americans.

You have no right to take their identity or impose your culture on them as truthful as it seems or is !

I just wish they would not say I am not black !

Or just say do you have afro roots ! This is a complicated issue !

  • Like most of DR is black ! And NOT ALL DOMINICANS or BLACK DOMINICANOS are HAITIAN. That is a myth.

Afro Dominicanos are very diverse group and consist I would say of 4 different cultural/intraethnic groups !

  • Black is Black, you confuse culture with ethnicity, it is not the same, Japanese and Koreans are both MONGOLOIDS, which means from Asia.

Dominicans are a by-product of slavery, just like African Americans, Haitians, and Jamaicans. The difference is that the Dominicans try to say they ain't Black but Whites will always see them as being Black, and here in the U.S. Whites treat Dominicans like African Americans and Haitians.

There are White Dominicans, but they did not come from slavery.

  • What do you mean they will treat Dominicans as Haitians or African Americans! Dominicans most are black! They get treated like and as blacks because they are blacks and also Hispanic

  • There are English speaking blacks on the DR island.

There are descendants of U.S. African American freedmen slaves! They live in and around Samana Province. They maintain African American English as well as Spanish.

Then there are descendants of Anglo Caribbean/West Indian blacks who came for sugar plantations in SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS and surrounding areas. This group is known as the COCOLOS or GULOYAS.

Then you have groups like CONGOS of VILLA MELLA ! This is the Spanish speaking blacks

  • Good explanation

  • And the rest are Hispanic blacks. There are many blacks that are traditionally and only "truly or really Dominican". Congos of Villa Mella or the people of Cofradias are Hispanic black and Spanish speaking and Roman Catholic.

Then you have people of Haitian descent in DR !

  • this is a good point; you cant deny that.

  • What is the name of this song ! I know it is a Panamanian song ! I just know it but who is it ! I have an idea of who it might be !

  • Im a white dominican but im mix with cuban but my father its real dominican too and let me tell u he is white with blue eyes blond hair so i dont know why tjis shit its saying da real dominican dr got everything..

  • I don't understand why Dominicans don't think they are black. I guess its their culture or their relation to haiti but I'm an African American and my dad is black with green eyes and brown hair and my family is kind of light skinned, but in America we are still black because we have a history of the One Drop Rule. So a lot of Americans get annoyed by Dominicans who come here, because many do not think they are black when many of them are darker/blacker looking than some BLACK people here!

  • Please stop with the ignorance. There blackness has nothing to do with Haiti. They are just black because they have afro roots and mixed a lot. Many are pure black. And yes there is an ethnic Haitian minority.

  • Haitians and Dominicans are culturally different, but not genetically, Black Dominicans are descendants of slaves, and their ancestors got raped by Europeans just like African Americans.

There is no real difference between them and African Americans, if there was when I went there for my vacation they would have been able to tell the difference, but they could no so case closed. They got brainwashed by Trujillo.

  • Nice video and I understand it even though I'm a white dominican.

  • Wow that's the first time I've heard a Dominican call himself/herself White. lol

  • There are white Dominicanos !

  • the trinitaros were white

  • WTF is a white Dominican? Seriously, I am Dominican of color and the reality of this is if you are placed in the middle of hick town North Carolina they wouldn't consider you a "white" anything. Hispanics need to wake up as a whole. LEARN YOUR HISTORY!

  • i wanna visit republica dominicana.....where ahy gente bonita...nice people

  • Who is singing the song, I know its a Panamanian dancehall artist

  • i love the jamaican style they used for the music.

  • This is not Jamaican music! Lol it is Panamanian!

  • I love it.

  • I love yer Video da one dique yo tambien soy boricua Im not purto rican doe But its interestingg :-]

  • i know someone 2 or 3 people from there and 1 of the girls from there want to act like...she is better than blacks.

  • i dominican and idont look black but i understand this vids

  • It varies by region. Most people are Afrodescent, but the look varies by level of admixture.

  • great video. i'll be visiting the DR next month and look forward to it. I am African, and people forget even amongst african ethnic groups we are a mixture due to colonialization & migrations withing the continent, alot of the european colonizers & arab traders ended up settling in africa and intermarrying. i guess i cant deny my great-great grand fathers' portuguese & yemeni roots, seeing he captured and sold his own african wife as a slave in the end. Crazy World isn't it!!

  • yo soy americana negra y hablo español. Hay muchos negros en Estados Unidos que saben hablar Español. Usted es una persona ignorante decir que AFRO AMERICANOS no saben español.

  • thats not what this video is about though

  • Yo hablo espanol 2 .. y Yo soy "moreno" de Africa

  • wow this song is like the story of my life.. lol...im panamanian and every1 always think im like african american i love what she says in the song soy morena pero 100% latina..

  • are you of west indian descent?? what is ur last name spanish??

  • hooray for nappy hair, full lips and dark skin..morenos be proud

  • what song is this?

  • i think everyone should embrace any heritage that runs through your blood.I just found out that i have cherokee indian and blackfoot indian in me. both of my great great grandparents on both sides of my family where fullblooded indians, and i have come to learning more about my indian family.its good to take pride of ancestry in you.

  • And you can trace that back to Africa you know that right? Do you know the history of The Cherokee and what happened with the British ? I have Cherokee in me also, but my roots are from Africa

  • Black Power World Wide ! To all those other fake ass black people that think there spanish go sleep with the slave master. Don't worry he we will remind you that your nigger ! PEACE to all the Afro dominicanos keepin it real. Black Power World Wide !

  • The Dominican Republic has an African Identity crisis for a variety of reasons. Irregardless of the reasons why, THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of DOMINICANS have African Blood in their veins no matter how light or dark they may be. Which are bullshit terms to just continually deny African ancestry. AFRICAN and SPANISH are the overwhelming elements in the DR gene pool. I see the self-hate that many Dominicans have when you mention anything African black to them. It ain't their fault. It's Trujillo.

  • Speak the truth!

  • EXCELLENT POST. Bought time that the African soul of the DR is expressed. Too long many Dominicans have been brainwashed out their BLACKNESS just because they speak Spanish starting with Juan Pablo Duarte and his cronies who carried the torch. Idiots like Trujillo, Bosch, and Balaguer many years later who perpetuated that bullshit. Stop calling yourself Spanish!!! GO TO SPAIN AND TELL THEM REAL SPANIARDS THAT SHIT. SEE HOW THE FUCK THEY LOOK AT YOU LIKE U CRAZY.

  • YOU GO GIRL!! im tired of selfhating blacks

  • The Dominican Republic is a nation with African and Spanish Elements. Taino culture was literally WIPED OUT of the island by the Spanish conquistadors. For that reason, Africans were brought in large number to replace the Taino who were dying off in crazy numbers due to the Spanish brutality and his diseases. He slept with many AFRICAN women creating all the unique and beautiful variety that make up Dominican People. BE PROUD OF YOUR AFRICAN HERITAGE DOMINICANS. IT'S 2000 and Fuckin 9.

  • Bitch, if YOU ARE SELF-HATING, the majority of us Dominicans ARENT.You don't own blackness, and we nor you don't tell others how to live it.We're people of mixed roots, denying one in favor of the other is denying our heritage, what we really are. YOU are the dumb one sucked in by the racist colorist militant black agenda. TEN UN POCO DE VERGUENZA, y acepta tu mulataje que no tiene nada de malo como los negros puristas y los blancos racistas quieren hacer ver. Poor us, hated by blacks and whites.

  • republica dominicana alante

    soy-afro dominicano

  • wow excellent video girl :)

  • Great video!!! But I wish some Afro-Dominicians would say "I'm Black and Proud!!" Great job girl.

  • dominicans are in all colors

    just like cubans ... :)

  • That's TRUE, what's wrong with that? We are white, an mulatto, and black, and we have Dominican-Chinese, Japanese, Korean, jews...all the people who have come to this land for one reason or the other, but we are DOMINICANS first and foremost. Don't EVER let anyone else PUT us down or question our mixed heritage. Being any color is a matter of PRIDE, not SHAME.

  • once again this video is not about denying the other parts of who we are im talking about dr's that compleatly deny their african heritage. and also the fact that other blacks afro-american west indian whatever are just as mixed as we are we ALL ARE PRODUCTS OF WHITE EUROPEAN COLONIALIZIM

  • Well Said. DR is a trip. There are many parallels between Arabization and Lationazation writing on this now.

  • @lachandra1 This video surprises me because I ran into a young lady who is also Afro-Latina and she denies being black and goes on to say I'm not f'n African. I'm Latina OK and don't get mad because we Latina look better then you. that is straight ignorance.

  • Great Video!! i love it. im not dominican but i have many friends that are and they will not admitt or accept their african roots. they feel because they are lighter skinned that they are only Spanish, meaning they have no black blood but your video just proves them wrong n ignorant. Great vid, post more!!!

  • Forget just lighter skinned, you have jet black ones that will do the same........I am not Dominican either but I was married to one... Denial of African ancestry is common unfortunately.

  • i know im proud to be afro dominican

  • republica dominicana

    all day

  • let them know. educate them. great job.

  • I'm white Dominicano, i don't care about what color you are in my country as far as you do something for society and stop being a lazy ass. I'm a lover of progress and order.

  • what the fuck does that mean? u white dominicano. why cant u say u dominican period. why u have to differenciate urself. u must be really racist. u don't about color yet u still say u white dominicano haitian hater

  • White as in Hipolito Mejia white or light-skinned like AROD?

  • I Love This song who sings this song and what is the title!!!

  • yesss, represent baby!!!

  • Why would people think dominicans are hatians. They don't look alike to me and they speak two diffrent languages.

    That is just weird.

  • ignorant.....NEXT!!!!

  • Excellent video thanks for making it

  • where can I find that song??

  • Dominicans come in every colour, we are that special mix of dark, light, and everything in between. But it is not the colour of our skin which makes us Dominican, its our joy for life, national pride, merengue, and the best beaches in the world.

  • What you say is correct, just stop admitting Spanish and Taino ancestry and leave out THE obvious AFRICAN blood in your people ......That's all this beef is about.

  • I've added this video to my playlist

  • be united with the afrodominicans and both eurodominicans and cocolos have a common foe which is the Haitian leech.

  • cual cacion es?

  • ARTIST LA ATREVIDA AKA RUDE GIRL

  • The racial category that you mention dont mean anything because we only have one culture and one ppl and that is dominican, those racial category that you speak off is just sometihng that we got from colonial times like in almost every country on the continent, we dont go around saying im a proud white dominican or i am a proud black dominican we just say we are proud dominican. That is what i meant

  • yea whatever......but yet white dominicans have no problem saying their white.....u see it all on here alone...."every domincan is not black......i have pure itailain, spanish, indian blood blah blah blah" but never hear "im pure African" its ALWAYS mixed....just read the comments

  • I agree with you Nocrodomus, but let us just admit that racism in the DR exists based upon how light (European) or how dark( African) you are. Dominicans are not this one unified people under the flag that some try to portray.

  • This is a good video, tthe good thing is that Brazilians, Puerto Ricans, and most Cubans don't distinguish between color like we do in the U.S and this is factual. If you are born in one of these countries and you speak the language, they would simply consider you a nationalists regardless of your color. That why you don't hear about racial clashes in those countries.

  • Good answswer man, many ppl dont understand that the most of the world dont have the american culture, and the rest of the world dont distinguish between color that much .

THAT IS WHY IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC NO ONE CALL HIMSELF AFRO DOMINICAN OR WHITE DOMINICAN WE ARE JUST DOMINICAN AND THATS IT.

  • thats bullshit! so expalin all those race lables that range from white to dark brown that keeps people from being called black in the dominican rep. explain the trujillo era and the hatin resenment, or how the term cacolo or mono becam deragatory in your country. and stop blaming america for your racial issues!

  • I remember you, you seem to be in almost all dominican videos saying the same thing lol, i just happend to come a cross this one lol.

there are race labels, like everywhere else on the planet, the thing is that is not that important, that dosent make you less or more thna any one else, but at the end of the day we are all dominicans whit the same culture no matter the color. And trujillo was a dictator ,and as far as i know a dictator do not represent is people (that is why we kill him)

  • Im not blaming amerca for anything, the thing is that some ppl on the web that come from that country, judge other countries by their standard, and they belive that the american way is the best there is, and if no one is close to that cultural standard then they are wrong.

  • and if we have so much racial issues BETWEEN dominicans then why no one from the D.R have say anything,

because as far as i know the only one complaining are the dominican that live in the U.S that have only been

in the D.R for 3 month in their lives and JUDGE OUR COUNTRY AND CULTURE BASE ON THE AMERICAN CULTURE STANDARD,

  • and ofcourse the ppl that have never been to the D.R and only know about the D.R by information found on the web,

and they belive that just because they found and article on the web about the D.R, they think they know everithing about the D.R

  • OMG tell em.......you are right....but yet dont the DR have a racial category called "dark white"? how the hell can you be dark white? no offense but the only white ppl who are really considered "dark" are greeks, itailians and sometimes spanish but they still dont be as tanned as the so called dark white ppl there...and no one calls them dark white

  • you are so funny man lol lol lol lol lol

  • you dont hear about rascist clashes..but dont get it confused the blacks in all those countries the majority live under the poverty line are discriminated against and are under represented.

  • i feel sorry dor you your so young and you hate yourself thats just sad bro...there is help out there for self haters just dont drink the haterade that trujillo made sorry if some of us refuse to live our lives in self hate and choose to embrace ALL of our roots im sorry you like to screw old wrinkely white women @ resorts for money and a green card so that you can make your kids lighter if you like sanky panky more power to you bro

  • who dat?

  • actually if you look back in history my friend it was queen isabella and king ferdinand of Spain that started the transatlantic slave trade which is the transporting of slaves to the new world however the portuguese mre slaves to the new world than any other european nation and by the way it was my greatgrandfather that was among the cubans who made sugar cane in DR a force to be reckoned with at that time my father was born in 1938 so that should give you some idea of how old mi abuelo was

  • No, i am sorry but it was the portuguese, it is the truth check it, who got the slaves for the spanish? how did they get them??? Now, if you want to say that Spaniards were the first to bring slaves over to the new world, by all means this is true. Well :Lechandra I was questioning the age of your grandfather since you stated that it was your grandfather not your great grandfather, that'sall.. :)

    _Namaste

  • I love this video, wow that Trujillo huy, what an asshole, we must remember that approximately 84% of the Dominican population is of African or partial African descent, I am 100% Dominican, and I do consider myself Black because that is who I am VIVA LA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA.

  • first of all no babay i am 100% domincan except for mi abuelo who came from Cuba and helped in the begings of the suger cane industry the spaniards brought the first slaves to Quiskeya in 1409 bithch read your history the Spaniards were the ones who started the slave trade READ A BOOK THEN WE CAN TALK I WENT TO DUKE UNVERSITY AND NYU PROUD TO BE AFRO-DOMINCANO!!! DID U WATCH THE VIDEO YOU IT SAID WE ARE NOT HAITIAN HAVE YOU EVEN EVER BEEN TO THE ISLAND? I LIVE THERE SO PLEASE GET A JOB!!

  • Hello sister. I'm african american and native american(but you know there's some white in there because of slavery). It makes me smile to see a proud black latina. Try not to work your self up trying to make people say what is true. If you are waiting for your oppressors or other who lie to say what is true you'll be waiting forever. Instead find rest in the truth. Even if others won't tell you the truth...thank god you had the intelligence and the resources to find it on your own.

  • Sometimes I work myself up over egypt and how no one will admit that the egyptians were black. I realize now that I'm upset because I'm waiting for those who lyed about not just egypt but all the greatness of international black hertiage. It's like you're waiting for them to finally tell the truth but they won't. I have to get over this feeling and let it go and so do you. Don't look to our enemies for validation because it will not come. Know the truth and find rest in it. Find peace in it.

  • The blacks did the labor in Egypt but the mediterraneans did the thinking. Eventually, a black pharaoh came up and that was it for Egypt.

  • ik i get negative commets all the time say am not spanish cuz i dont luk like or have the hair i but am mix though am proud to be dr and blk

  • Loved the song. I hope to visit the DR one day

  • The interesting thing is that Trujillo's mother was a black Hatian. The massacres were really an act of self hate and really was a microcosm of the general Dominican self deception, and self hate.

  • sabastianQuinsella this comment is hateful and negitive and you wonder why i dont allow it you sound familair is this Sagitarofino/samysamy69/what ever that other many screenames i think you are the same person tring to make a comeback

  • sorry somtimes i dont at all the comments made until later so that i can approve them every one is intitled to there own opinion as long as what u have to say is INTELLIGENT and promotes a postive vibe even if it is not in agreement with what i believe im fine and i have blocke some hateful post by haitians and others that is far worse than what you have seen. by the way all of my friends can see the post even if i dont approve them.

    respect

  • yo i just found out the DR celebrates their independence from hati and not from spain OOOHHHH the hyprocracy!

  • thank you

  • Because the Haitian army forced many of the white settlers to move to Cuba, killed pregnant women , prohibited whites from owning land , closed the oldest university of the Americas, what else can I tell you, because of the Haitian occupation we lost most of the white settlers, because of that our country would probably look more like Cuba.

  • No offense but are you angry of the modern day demograhic/ethnographic makeup of DR today! And Haitians did not force whites of DR to go to Cuba and PR! During the outbreak of the French Revolution DR was a derilict abandoned and neglected Spanish colony! Under the French DR had some success! Many whites left DR for Cuba and PR and even Panama and Colombia! Haitians just took power away from whites who were actually oppressors of the DR's mainly mulatto and black population!

  • Oh and yes later on the French and Haitian occupations did eventually become a factor in exodus of white dominicanos! But there were other reasons also too!

  • Evil his comment was posted on the Afro-Dominican the real

  • love the vid- y la cancion, afro- panamena pa que tu lo sepa

  • my mother is dominican , my father is dominia , so im dominican .. idc if we look black ... i speak spanish & black americans cant

  • bein dominican is not a race fucker it an island.bitch u either black or white

  • ok lets get this straight im black but im dominican and puerto rican so claro que si im Afro Dominican but i agree we dominicans tlk downnnnnnn to haitians to much we are the carribean but to evewireles excuse me but israel and usa are not latin counntries but trujillo did make black or dark dominicans deny africa plus the puto was half hatian I LOVE EL CARIBE

  • WAS HAITIAN

  • NO DOMINCANS WERE NOT ALREADY THERE WHO EVER TOLD YOU THAT IS A LIE!!!!!!!!!!!! So I Give You Some Facts. THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC WAS NEVER REALLY THERE UNTIL AFTER WE WON ARE INDEPENDCE FROM THEM HISPANOLA WAS REALLY ALL HAITI AT A TIME AND WE WERE OWNED BY THE FRENCH NOT HAITIANS UNTIL LATER ON. SPANISH AND AFRICANS WERE SLAVES TO THE FRENCH. DOMINICANS DOMINICANSARE INDEED BLACK OR HAVE ATLEST BLACK AND SPAINSH ANCERTY THE HATE TOWARDS THEM CAME ABOUT WHEN IN Trujillo Era AND HE HIMSELF

  • didnt haitians liberate them twice though? my mom is half haitian.....isnt it true that dominicans were re-enslaved by the spanish after the haitians freed the whole island?

  • but this is not their history says. It's funny how they brainwash the young dominican kids. They celebrate their independence from Haiti.

I'm also surprised to see a "dark skinned" dominican embracing the African Heritage, because last time I checked they preferred to be called "dark tainos"

  • im dominican and its true

  • what are talking about, are u for real with that crap. i think u need to get your fact straight!!!!!!!!!!

  • so fucking true lol.... that tujilio guy was as pathetic as hitler!!LMAO!!! i't's like hitler telling the germans to get rid of the non german to keep the german blood clean when infact hitler him self was not even from germany and did no have blond hair blue eyes lol..that's a complete self hatred B.S

  • Also if you check the info thing....it says...THIS IS FOR ALL MY SELF HATING PPl that don't realize how beautiful it is to be AN AFRO-LATINO. While not all DOminican have self hating issues a lot dooooooooo. I try to educate people not lie about this issue that has been around thanks to TRUJILLO. You have a lot of nerves to harass me and go around saying that the shit ain't true. Well it is!! It is a reality that needs to be changed, instead of harassing me, GO EDUCATE OTHERS and yourself.

  • si tu sabes muy bien!!!

  • this is rather funny.... I had a dominican told me he wasn't black...but from a white person perspective i jst look at him like he was the most ignorant nigger..i mean what the hell did the spaniard been feeding those people in DR? to us you are africans who happen to speak spanish!!!! jst like panamians, etc.... i feel so sorry black people in Dr who think they are not black....shame shame shame!!!!

  • And you know what you are exactly correct! I tell Black Latins that all the time to the point of almost fighting. Im Black/African-Cuban and I get disqusted when Im faced with that. Your comment is perfect...nigger and all because with taht level of ignorance there is no other word to describe such a person! BUT what the Spaniards fed them like whites fed all of us is a near lethal dose of PERPETUAL SELF HATRED THAT WILL SOUND OF WORLDWIDE FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. Shame shame is right thanks

  • first off nigger is not a term that means igonrant it is a racist term to degrade the blacks. IGNORANT means IGNORANT. but i have been telling these light skinned niggas on these islands for years that they are black .. LOOK it is so easy to manipulate people who hate themselves. Look at the darfur incident and the RAWANDA geneoicde. Some white people told them that they are different from one another and one felt they where better and started to kill the other one as if they were not the same

  • Raitru!

  • I love all of your comment except for the nigger part. Well in a sense a nigger is an ignorant person so its quite fitting, but you shouldn't be racist, he inst a nigger, and in a making a point to him, you offended other people who other wise sided with you
