Can stockpiling be a proper long range answer? No...eventually it WILL run out.

How about using your lawn to grow food? No...it will need to be guarded 24/7 and any quantities obtained would be limited and dependent on seasons. Not everyone HAS a lawn! If food or water were not available, we can only imagine the chaos and we will see killing for a can of beans or a bucket of water. Would fixing the government and removing those that prove to be the problem present an answer?mmmmmmm mebbe!

A lawn is not close enough to the size needed to grow enough food to sustain a family.

You are going to need a couple of acres at least... to grow the correct types of foods which contains essential nutrients needed by your body and can stay fresh over the winter or be canned.

If you have a couple of acres you can raise a few dairy goats and chickens... If you are a vegan you need even more land.

Eggs, potatoes, and milk from goats contain most everything you need.
