  • The guys I know for a fact served in the US military all think highly of the AR platform. The "I picked up an AK47 from dead enemy because..."guys aren't credible IMO. A serviceman carrying & shooting an AK47 would be subject to friendly-fire not to mention being accused of plotting war crimes because he's carrying a weapon not issued to him. Unless you can put a known name to a criticism (McNabb, Mills, Bellavia, Luttrell etc.) don't believe it.Criticism takes a drastic change when you do that.

  • @oeyesea Ridiculous. I've read two books where they documented instances of soldiers carrying AK's. In Vietnam, and present day.

  • Seems to work fine, minus your double-feed, failure to feed, or failure to extract at 3:44.

  • @MrSchpankme our test don't endanger anyone this is not a milspec weapon this is a highly specialized ar-15 that has had small upgrades to make it more reliable and easier to clean. i myself am in the military and would like you to know if you are in the field and fail to retain your weapon and it falls in the creek YOU ARE WRONG, if you drop your weapon in the sand with the dust cover open YOU ARE WRONG and if you get mud in your breech guess what.....yup YOUR WRONG

  • @MrTacticalbacon So we live in a perfect world then?

  • @esh325 no we dont im not claiming that we do...but if you get your weapon this dirty you need remedial training on weapons retention and the operation of the m16/m4 family of weapon. i do understand shit happens but if all the shit that caused the malfunction happens then you probably have the worst luck on earth.

  • @MrSchpankme it actually occurs at 3:44

  • @VigilantSpectre .. your correct .. thx

  • @MrSchpankme its annotated

  • Comment removed

  • I call bullshit on your little test. you are a liar and its clear you didn't want the gun to fail at all. Everyone take a look at the bolt at 3:46 when he said it worked fine. You can clearly see it failed to return to battery aka he jammed up. then he turned his back to the camera and cleared it. Your gun failed the mud and you know it did, so stop bullshitting people. Seriously people check out 3:46 and the frames just before it and pause on the last shot. The bolt is nearly 1/2 open.

  • @Master7770 And to top it off you have one of them dry lube bolts from the looks of it. It's not standard thats for sure.

  • The place you're at looks pretty awesome.

  • "can't get my glove wet" never mind the carbine lol =]

  • @cj89311 was it new or a weapon that had the shyt shot out of it? more than likely the latter.

  • great, now maybe all of the AK fanboys will STFU lol. good video.

  • @NIKON777 Think again....Look at his bolt at 3:46 and take a look at the last shot just before that. His bolt jammed open and he lied about it. A sharp eye goes a long way.

  • Now, if only Glock would make an M4... That thing would honestly be a weapon that would never fail on you in ANY situation.

  • Google "the usa's m4 carbine controversy" on the defense industry daily. I was in the army 6 months ago, I can honestly say I maintained the shit out of my m4, and it still jammed enough for me not to trust my life with it if I had another choice. Its good enough for the army, just not for me. Of course thats just my opinion that I'm entitled to.

  • Funny how the people I know for a fact are military veterans strongly disagree with the ones who supposedly had problems with it during their stay in Afghanistan or Iraq. In fact, it's to the point that the person who writes "it jams every time" loses credibility.

  • Actually, a real AK47 is close to being a "self-cleaning rifle" because of its loss tolerances & has a caliber strong enough to make the rifle shake off dirt like a dog shakes off water. Of course, the loose tolerances are partly what make its accuracy somewhat questionable, but who thinks there is such a thing as a perfect weapon?

  • I love how relaxed you are while you abuse your baby carbine......It was for a good cause.

  • The AR platform WIL NOT WORK DIRTY OR DRY, !! lol!!! I believed that hype when I was in my 20's from fellow soldiers. However, after trusting my life with is a handful of times I can say I will not trust my or my family's life to anything else. Thats not to say there aren't better firearms with better ballistic abilities but I will keep my AR/M4/M16 !!!

  • you are the man mate!!!.... thats why the m4 never let me down... i hear all the time guys telling me about the reliability of the hk416 and that the m4 cant be used under these conditions..the main difference between the hk416 and m4 is that the hk416 has something like a piston between the gas tube and gas block,so it doesnt jam or break when shot after water got in it..but i have recently seen guys putting that gas-piston system on their m4s with a result having no difference from the hk416

  • if the ar15 was so unreliable as people make it seem it wouldnt be so popular, it must be doing something right to get so popular

  • @VigilantSpectre yea I'm using an iPhone, thats why. Good video. You can still tell the weapon platform is completely reliable, don't dunk your rifle in mud before combat lol. If you're in a situation where it will get muddy, keep your dust cover closed and problem solved. If worse comes to worse you can literally dump a bottle of water on your bolt carrier while its in your gun and jack it a few times

  • @JUKEBOXX1990

You can put thousands of rounds through these without changing a part. It would be smart to keep an extra bolt carrier group around incase of a malfuction or if your bolt carrier sustains damage for some reason (broken gas ring, etc..). Only really necessary if you are frequently experiencing combat. I my self have a upgraded bolt carrier, and keep my original in my bag incase I need to swap 'em, never have though.

  • @BeEzLeBoSs2010 thanks i just bought a daniel defense m4v7

  • Also...

Seriously, if you can't keen an AR platform weapon in complete working condition, don't use a gun, cuz that's just...sad, irresponsible..

Too "high maintenance"? Really? I'm a US infantry man, currently using the m4 and it takes less than 3 minutes a day to make sure my rifle is in operating condition any time...and it always is. Keep your dust cover closed, take the big whopping few minutes to check for any crud around the bolt carrier and simply dust clean with a soft bristle brush

  • @BeEzLeBoSs2010 Well said thankyou for bringing your experience on the matter to the table. Also, if you are watching the video somewhere other than on your computer the annotations do not show up.I have annotations programmed to freeze frame when the malfunction occurs and then a comment about the use of the forward assist. Thanks again

  • @VigilantSpectre search daniel defesne m4 torture test its pretty cool..you vid was kool too.

  • @BeEzLeBoSs2010 how often does your bolt get beat up??i hear you need to change out some internal parts cause the get beat up with heavy use..your thoughts please

  • @BeEzLeBoSs2010 Amen Boss. I am so tired of guys with short man's complex knocking the AR platform. The AR can be what ever you want it to be. don't like direct impingement, get a piston system. Don't like the rear charging handle, get a side charging receiver. Want a different bullet, upper, upper, upper. It is whatever you want it to be. There simply is no other platform that can top that. I love my AR and will never own Rusky again, not when I can use the money for a new upper or barrel.

  • @gmillerguy A tool designed to be heavily modified and perform a wide variety of tasks will never do them as well a tool designed for a specific purpose. In other words, the AR15 can do all those things, but it won't do them as well as other rifles that were built from the ground up with those features. Gas piston AR15's are not really proven platforms, and have some bugs that need to be worked out.

  • 3:43

Pay close attention to the bolt carrier group, on the last shot after he pulls it out of the mud. It jammed half open loading the next round. And you can see him messing with the rifle, un-jamming it while he walks back to where they throw it in the water. Plus the bolt is in the locked back position when he pulls it out of the water for the last time.

Still a good video, great rifle.

Note to self...close dust cover before throwing in mud..

    That's why it's there!

  • @DrunkMunkyy Well AK fanboy you can believe what every you like !

I have killed over 20 moose with my AR's by using reloads with 70grain Barns x.

One of these 223 Barns X to the head its all over the moose drops like 1 1/2 tons of Yukon moose in its tracks.

I also killed a 9' coastal brown bear the same way with a 223 75 grain barns X in the brain .

All animals are shot on shore lines from boats that have 338's or 375 H&H ready.

In Alaska all center fire rounds are legal to hunt big game.

  • Thanks for making that video.

  • You are a braver man than I - the gritty crunching sound during mag insertion is epic :)

  • im not a fan of the gas system, it literally shits where it eats, but the piston system fixed that problem, i guess im just a m43 guy

  • Awesome vid! Thanks for sharing.

  • was the guy standing in front of you as you shot...?

  • an optic would look really pretty on that gun but i could understand why it would be removed for this video

  • @DrunkMunkyy Well I hate to blow your AK loving bubble but in Alaska its worst than any rain forest .

I carry my AR on all guided hunting trips I conduct, it never gets cleaned, never oiled, gets filled with sticky moose blood and mixed with blood and dirt to make a think muck stuck in and out of the gun, or my AR rides in my open sled on salt water bays, it works every time never fails, never jams !

Sorry but if you don't find the truth your self then thats your own ignorant problem .

  • An interesting test would be to throw an AR & AK in the mud then have each aim at a lightbulb sized target 200meters away and see which one hits it faster & fires the least amount of cartridges. With an AK74 there'd be a decent chance but keep in mind tight tolerances make the AK74 accurate so some of an AK47's reliability as well as power will be lost due to tighter tolerances (not to mention power) so you might as well use an AK47 for the test.

  • a small but vocal number of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq has complained that the standard-issue M4 rifles need too much maintenance and jam at the worst possible times(.Associated Press)

  • @b2flyer1 Half the rifles that failed at Wanat were 249s. They failed simply because they overheated. Journalist/Author embedded with US marines observed over 100 marines armed with M4/M16s in 12 different firefights & Chivers observed 1 failure but that failure was when a marine fell into a sewage ditch and the marine had his rifle shooting again in 2 seconds. This report by Chivers is available on the net if one wants to look. AR may not be as jamfree as an AK but it isn't made out of glass.

  • WASHINGTON (AP) — In the chaos of an early morning assault on a remote U.S. outpost in eastern Afghanistan, Staff Sgt. Erich Phillips' M4 carbine quit firing as militant forces surrounded the base. The machine gun he grabbed after tossing the rifle aside didn't work A detailed study of the attack by a military historian found that weapons failed repeatedly at a "critical moment" during the firefight on July 13, 2008.( Associated Press )

  • Why did the camera shake so bad when u shot?? Scared camera man?

  • Think it's hilarious you thought viewers wouldn't notice the failure after the mud. I was in combat three times. AR's suck. I carried AK's.

  • @fuqak47 You are a pathetic liar with a serious problem.

I personally seen a memo when I worked at the U.S Military base in Alaska that was sent to all U.S basses telling soldiers and their superiors in 2001 anyone caught using any weapon not their U.S issued weapon could be subject to serious legal actions and court marshaled.

The U.S Military does not use shitty Russian weapons period !

Try your AK fanboy Bullshit some place other than here because its now funny, its degrading to our troops !

  • @DrunkMunkyy um they did, during this little skirmish called "The Vietnam War" soldiers carried their M-16s the entire while they were in country which would have been at least a year and they "worked". So yeah, I would suggest you accept reality and stop parroting what you hear from the COD or counter strike experts.

(and yes I know they had some issues in nam, but that was before '67 before the A1 series, prior it was in prototype stage)

  • AR's will not function durty

  • The "unreliability" comes from people...not the gun. When people modify without taking into account the mods effects on the system, fail to maintain, or push it beyond its design limitation...it can fail. The M4 (14.5" barrel, carbine gas) has a lot to do with the unreliability notions. A properly built AR will function just fine with minimal maintenance in some very shitty conditions. The big competitor is the AK, it’s not that the AR is not reliable, just the AK is more forgiving to abuse.

  • @CPLBSS88 Well said

  • @VigilantSpectre Where'd you buy this and how much was it?

  • @FullmetaljacketJ Its a build

  • @CPLBSS88 hate it when ppl compare m4/m16 to that dirty piece of fuckin shit lol but still look at m16/m4 itself not compared to an AK

  • This video made me crack up. Love these tests!

  • This M4 hasn't ran into one problem yet. Extremely light weight and extremely reliable

  • Your a bad person!!!

  • @Ba1982transam Yeah

  • @VigilantSpectre What kind of bolt carrier do you have

  • @jutbhs200 RRA Chrome

  • I have more time behind an AR than 20 average shooters combined. These things are flat out run, PERIOD!!! Anyone who says that they are not reliable with minimal care probably has experience with the very first ones fielded in the 60's or they just regurgitate the garbage that they read on the net. I just love this crap: "My friend who is a soldier in the sand box had problems...blah, blah, blah". Well, most 18/19 year old boys can't keep their room half way clean much less a weapon. NUFF SAID!

  • @GLOCKCOPG23 hey whats the longest you have shot your ar without cleaning or lubing??round count??thanks

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 Mine Colt Tac Carbine and S&W MP15 regularly go 1000-1500 rounds or so between "real cleanings" with a lil squirt of Lucas every so often. I am sure they can go longer but I've never had to let them go longer. Thats damned reliable if you ask me. In a SWAT training course I took, I lost count of the rounds that went through my Department AR (well over 2000 w/o cleaning) in a weeks time and it never failed, not once. AK47s are great, but the AR platform need not appoligize to anyone.

  • @GLOCKCOPG23 thanks but whats the longest you have gone without quick cleaning or a lil squirt lube??im not trying to compare with ak..im just curious as i am a new ar owner myself..thanks again

  • A lot of guys watching this vid know where the AR's reputation for unreliability came from; the original mass issued ARs were not built to specifications (no chrome linings), No rustproofing from factory, no proper ammo w/ stick propellant, no cleaning & lubrication, GIs tinkering with it trying to reduce rate of fire. Woulda made more sense IMO to chamber the M14 in .243 caliber but that's water under the bridge now.

  • @oeyesea Eugene Stoner was aware of the ball powder requirements, but failed to design his rifle to use it. Ball powder is cheaper to produce, and in war time, it's an advantage to have a rifle that can digest cheaper ammo The French were in indochina for 8 years, and they got along fine with no chrome lining on their rifles.

  • @esh325 my info comes from CJ Chivers "The Gun".

  • How about you shoot it right as you take it out of the water and not let it drain

  • interesting video. Have you ever tried higher viscosity material like clay?

  • You know you really should shoot lead into the water, their is such a thing called lead poisoning that can happen to animals and fish down stream as well as humans for that matter. Just something to keep in mind maybe next time, good video though, like the test.

  • Now that the gov't owns the AR design & the weapons cost considerably less, we need to keep em. I think the AIC project is going to be just making different modular systems available to soldiers for task/environmental needs. Like if a 6.5mm with a cylinder is what's needed it GI Joe just changes the parts in the rifle to what's wanted. I do think the traditional system is greatly underrated. Mainly by impostors who have never even touched 1 in real life. Vets think differently about the rifle.

  • the A1 had problems because of our government not supplying cleaning kits and then they used old ball gun powder from wwII in the bullets which got the chamber dirtier than needed, m16 didn't do good in NAM because of our government

  • Lol'd when the camera man jumped after first shot

  • @Xamine07 Yeah he's a sis

  • thanks for the video i think you just helped me make my decision of gettin an AR15 over the hk mr556.

  • I don't know if anybody else seen that but after u did the mud test a round didn't go into the chamber you could clearly see it

  • @akproductions7447 Yes, I annotated this, I believe

  • M4.. M16.. AK... HK-416 is the best.

  • @asacura1 the 416 is a good weapon ive had the pleasure of using one however, its an overrated system 10 years ago when it was new it was great but for the $3000 proce tag you can really do better or pay less and get the same gun such as the ruger sr-556, or purchase (still for less money) a better weapon like the barret rec-7 dont get me wrong hk makes great weapons but you are paying for a name.

  • I think you should buy a stock Colt LE 6920, then torture test it because it has all the same parts as an M4 but is not fully automatic. You have a different color bolt, 20 round magazine, and a different handgrip then the ones used overseas. It doesn't exactly make the test fair since the parts you have could be improvements. They say the magazine is the #1 cause of jams and your using a non-milspec one. It's just something to consider, I learned a lot, but this test is sadly irrelevant.

  • @IMFDB 1.) All weapon components are milspec (minus the p-mags) and as such comply with the original Technical Data Package. 2.) Colt no longer makes all M4's; FN makes most of the M4's used by our troops. I didn't say anything about testing the original configuration. I think the purpose was misinterpreted, I was simply making the statement that if you know what you are doing and you build it right you can produce a monster.

  • @VigilantSpectre I see, I thought you were talking about what issued out of military crates. I still wish the military could lend you one of their M4's just to have all the spec's exact. Your video was really great by the way minus the equipment used. I like the HK416 vs M4 video when a guy with a welder's mask shot an M4 out of the water without clearing the gas tube. I wish your video could have been part 2.

  • @IMFDB Who needs a welding mask, reference my video named "Tactical Immersion".

  • @IMFDB bro the video is made by H&K to show off their rifle and is biased towards their product. People have had the Direct Gas operated M16/M4 for awhile and they have worked fine in far worse conditions, from the wet jungles of Vietnam to Dusty areas like Iraq. Talk to a US Marine or a Army guy and they will tell you that their ARs are the best one could use.

  • @BAACCOOOOCk Isn't Vietnam where it had problems?

  • @esh325 YES, the A1 had issues, as with every first generation of everything man has ever built. The square wheel sucked pretty bad until they rounded the edges off.

  • @BAACCOOOOCk well, not all soldiers, the reason why i dont trust this rifle soldiers is because my cousin (former marine) said his rifle and alot of his buddy's rifles would be jamming all the time because of a little dirt.

  • What are your thoughts on the ak74's 5.45x39? The round is very good and has great yaw.

  • @awakenedblckteen1991 the ak74 is a great weapon if you can get one with a milled receiver it will probly outlast your grandkids, the round has similar balistic properties to the 5.56, its extremely accurate and currently its dirt cheap to shoot.

  • Thanks for this video!

  • An AR-15 will not function when it is dirty ;)

  • I tried this let it sit for half day and tried to fire U got two failure to feed still badass rifle and badass vid thanks I hope to see more vids with that ar15 I like the look

  • @miltnxc123 My M4 is my workhorse, it is literally unstoppable. I am thinking about putting a piston on it in the future.
