  • O Canada!

    Terre de nos aïeux,

Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux.

Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,

    Il sait porter la croix.

    Ton histoire est une épopée,

    Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits

Canada, 2 me, is the most beautiful country in the world & I feel so priveledged 2 live here. We do indeed rock!!! :) God Bless!!!

  • The only thing I know in French is the National Anthem All my other family members practically speak French and pretty much only speak English to me and my dad

  • Bonjour from the US! Vive la Canada!

  • Vive LE Canada :) Canada is masculine :P

  • I'm Canadian but I like America's better.I wish I lived in America it is beautiful there, like Alaska, Hawaii,Texas,Talifornia, North Carolina,South Carolina and the rest of the 50 states.

  • May I ask why? What is it that u like about the US -or that you dislike about Canada? Is it the climate? The standard of living? (Just curious)

  • IT was written in French in Québec in 1878 later it was translated in English around 1905 ...adopted in 1967 by the rest of Canada funny fact they forget to makle it official by a bill until 1982 God save the king was the official hyme of Canada.

Las time the leaf win th stanley cup they sing god save the king and hail to a union jack

  • Vive l'Canada!

  • oui, oui, mon ami

  • Simple but beautiful! Merci!

  • it's just the greatst anthem----perhaps god bless america could beat it depending on who does it--it reminds me of when i became a hockey fanatic as a 12 yr old---seems the blackhawks were always playing the toronto maple leafs on a sat night with bobby hull, stan mikita & glenn hall on the ice with the 1 & only lloyd pettit doing the play by play. he was the best hockey announcer ever.u could come back 50 yrs fr now and he'd still be the best. the memory of him live on forever. shot & a goal.

  • My cousin joined Canadian coast guard in Halifax..i think its finish his training this years..what ever, nice work guy and she sings like shit ( I'm a french guy, from Quebec ) and i don't really understand what she said...Its look a Girl from alberta who try to speak French..whatever nice video.

When did the last two words of the last verse get changed from "notre foi" to "nos droits?"

  • nice sinning and i love canada

  • are there any good canadian national anthems in french on Youtube? Probably not.

  • yeah they have lot of canadian national anthems in French better than this version.

  • wow this version is really pretty.

  • le canada c'est le meilleur!!

tra la li la la :D

  • Canada is awesome

  • Why do you pronounce "s" at the end of "foyers"? I was taught not to pronounce it if followed by an "et"!

  • it's called "liaison"

  • note that English uses liaison, too, though it's not reflected in the spelling as it is in French: "China[r]and Russia" and "we[y]all" are standard for this phenomenon, called "English liaison"

  • Dear GoFeri,

This is Pierce Parker(par418p) in Ireland. You were taught incorrectly. You would pronouce "s" at the end of "foyers" precisely because it is followed by "et." When you listen to any announcements beginning with, "Mesdames et Messieurs," you would definitely hear the liasion, "s-et." I hope this helps.

  • Yea, French has a ton of liasons.. like say for instance somone ask you if you have cats, you could say Oui, j'en ai quelques-uns. the s at the end of quelques would sound like a z... like longue before a vowel sounds like lonk. Hope that helps ya buddie.

  • Well, gramaticaly you might have to prononce the "s" if it were before an "et", but i'm french canadian (from Montréal) and if I say a phrase like "Les foyers et les maisons" I, like all he people around me, wouldn't prononce the "s", but that might just be the Québec accent.

  • Great! Everything in French must be beautiful!

  • I miss home so much. Can not wait to go back home---Canada. I love you.

  • viva Canada!

! ! = Go Cananda i love Canada! im proud to be a Canadian god bless our country!!!

  • O Canada!!! i love Canada!!

  • O Canada!

  • Viva le Quebec! (correction)

  • Happy Canada Day everyone!

  • Vive le Canada Uni pour toujours !

  • Vive le Canadá

  • vive le canada avec le quebec!!

  • A beautiful country with great people, unfortunately near to USA

  • French isn't only in Quebec. New Brunswick has it for official language too and there is more and more french schools in Ontario and Manitoba. Yukon's also have a lot of people speaking french

  • Hey as well as B.C, we have French Schools, but i dont speak it --- I mean the French Language -no disrespect

  • oh i speak better french than i do english

  • Je prefere l'hymne de la France

  • There are over 20 english versions. However the version that gained the widest currency was made in 1908 by Robert Stanley Weir, a lawyer and at the time Recorder of the City of Montréal. (Source : Heritage Canada)

  • The Canadian National Anthem was originally writen in French by a Québec City judge named Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier on an existing music of a Québec City composer named Calixa Lavallée. The occasion was the "Congrès National des Canadiens-Français" in 1880, which was being held at the same time as the St. Jean-Baptiste Day celebrations in Québec City.

  • Tres bon, merci!

  • The french version is good as theenglish version

  • i love my country CANADA IS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

  • From an ocean to another :)
