Man, most of the music industry doesn't seem to know what they lost when Rhodes died....PHENOMIAL(sp) guitar player....everyone else was just happy to be in his world.
@gramoukdoom People should not "smoke" drugs. You could get lung cancer. Shoot them in your arm with a needle like any person who cares about their body would do.
I was lucky enough to see Randy w/ Ozzy @ a Day On the Green in Oakland California. It was awesome.I still have the concert program hanging on th wall in my shop .....
He makes a mistake at 1:51 going into the Bridge part, and looks around and smirks, like "Whew...no one caught that..." Funny seeing someone so immortalized be so human for just a moment. Still one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time...
@axeman098 As a half ass guitarist for 40+ years, I caught that the first time I saw this video. Just goes to show...we are all human and make mistakes....even the greatest. I like his little smile, but as a true pro does brushes it off and keeps on going!!!! This guys is not the fastest or the flashiest, but simply the best in terms of metal. JMO. You must play. A non-musician would have never noticed. Even the Dee out takes on the Tribute Album.Oooops..sure you heard it. Nice observation.
@jamesskb Actually I'm a drummer first, Guitarist second. I only noticed it because of the momentary sour note. I've played that song so many times, I caught it immeadiately. I was it was funny, he looked around like "Nobody heard that right?" then just kept on. He was human, but he rarely played like a normal one. :P
it sucks that some guy killed himself to this song with a gun when this song is about alcohol also why do people blame metal on stuff when it never wanted to hurt any one

And yes, I prefer Ritchie Blackmore and Timo Tolkki to RR. Is that so strange? What I really think is that you are pissed because there were only two Americans in my list. LOL. U MAD?
@surana87s Now you really got me. Who the hell is Boy George? But hey, maybe we're even here. You probably have no idea who is Tolkki or Turilli and I guess Tony Iommi is just some old guy from Ozzy's fairytales to you. Be cool then, be hairy like Randy, get a gay dotted guitar and choose the suicide solution. Preferably in a small airplane hitting a bus. That's the way to go. Maybe you'll be famous and adored too.
@ludekkZmrd that's just ur opinion....so u think dotted things r only for gay??...so u must have everythings dotted indoors then..:P.....u don't know what ur talkin about ...little puppy!!....i've been big fan of rock/metal music since i was little kid...and i started to play guitar...since then......let me mention it one more time...u don't know anything about music....u sound like these days kids who listen to rock and metal music just to show off!!
@surana87s I've been listening to rock/metal music maybe longer than you are alive. Or at least since you pissed off your mother from a crib. I suggest you start expanding your horizons past that bloated toad Ozzy and his entourage going downhill since 1979. Then maybe you won't look like a showoff. Good way to start would be to UTFG and find the bands of the people from my list. After that, there are many I did not mention. You may be surprised by what you find.
@ludekkZmrd hey kid...i know u r saying this just coz u see 87 in my name...but the fact is...this is the date i got the best guitarist award at my highschool guitar battle....i think this is enough for u now!!
@surana87s Haha! Very funny. In that case either your profile lies (student, 23) or you are lying here just to appear old and wise. Either way I call that a FAIL. Another fail would be to change you profile after this comment so you apper legit. Anyway I'm having fun. Hey, and have you UTFG yet? The exciting and magic world of hard rock and heavy metal is waiting. And if you have the courage to cross the Rainbow Bridge, you may find the Sacred Heart. I wonder if you get that reference.
@ludekkZmrd my profile is fake...that's just to trick ppl like u :P.....let's stop wasting our time.....to the poing :P.......UTFG???? for what???...sorry...not enough information...make me clear....
@surana87s UTFG so maybe it can bring some light into your delusions of grandeur. BTW, nice face job, old man. Can I get the number of your plastic surgeon?
@ludekkZmrd dude how can you listen to a guy and then bash him stop and randy is top by far a top 5 guitarist ever ok we can have our opinion your not the only 1 that gets an opinion and its not cause he died its cause he did things no one else did and still to this day i never heard a full song of his played perfectly besides when he did it try playing his full songs not 1 or 2 riffs youll find out you cant handle it
by elves and then tour all over the world on top of contractual obligations with the major label. Working by yourself under those heavy pressures wouldn't even be considered professional. Like a ma and pa run convenience store. Macy's has a staff, ya know? I'm tired of all the idiotic shallow comments people put on these sites. Grow up and get a mind, ok?
Great song to get drunk to! Love the guitar riff played by the Guitat God Randy Rhoads who was sadly killed 29 years ago today! and for those of you who dont like this video, why dont you go listen and comment on your crap somewhere else...RIP Randy.....
@17JurgisRudkus17 me me me, over the mountain solo blew me away when i first heard it in 86 and still does to this day. can do a decent job of that solo now and i always play it with utmost respect and pride for randy. to me the greatest naturally talented guitar player ever.
@17JurgisRudkus17 Honestly, i didnt really know much about ozzy at the time i decided to start playing, and didnt hear diary of a madman either at the time
ryanisryan69 please look up the meaning behind this before you say its the best song to end your life to. if you do look it up you will see that it is about alcohol abuse. saying that the alcohol will kill hence wine is fine but whiskey's quicker. It would be nice if you learned something about the music your hateing on before you post
no ozzy wrote one line only " wine is fine but whiskeys quicker" bob wrote the song about osbourne and bob wrote all of the lyrics on blizard and diary the real truth will come out in his book later this year....he wrote 1 line in crowley too" was it polemically sent i wanna know what you meant" referring to something he had read about jimmy page writing to someone and ending the message " polemically yours jimmy" as he lived in aleister crowleys house
@ahrimanes ok just saying #1 bon didnt commit suicide if you told that to any harcore ac dc fan they would smack you so i guess ozzy must be fucking retarded
@Saltwaterowl He's not saying he did... the word "solution" in the title refers to a liquid, in the case, alcohol. It's not "Suicide Solution" as in using suicide to solve your problems, but "Suicide Solution" as in alcohol, when used incorrectly, can kill you. Again, something Ozzy talked about in "Don't Blame Me."
@Saltwaterowl Ozzy used "solution" in the title to refer to a chemical solution (or chemical compound), which any alcoholic drink is. "Suicide Solution", therefore, refers to alcohol as being a "suicide compound" or "suicide drink". Again, if you watch "Don't Blame Me" Ozzy talks in detail about what the title of the song means and what his inspiration for the song was.
@ahrimanes if thats your opinion then let it be.... NUMMBBBEEERRR 1 .1.1.1.1.1 number 1 bon scott did not commit suicide bon is my favorite person in history i know quite a bit about him he did not commit suicide so ozzy must br fucking retarded period for saying suicide solution instead of choked on his on puke to death for being beyond drunk solution overall what im saying is he did not commit suicide
@Saltwaterowl Drinking to get DRUNK is a slow form of suicide ....so technically ozzy is correct . Alcohol is a disgusting "solution " ....never the answer to your problems - I wish that anyone who is unhappy can turn from drink and address whatever problem that is really deep down inside ...but that takes a lot of guts .
I simply wish anyone battling depression well ....doctors dont prescribe alcohol for depression ....and of course there is a reason for that . I'm sure ozzy would agree .
@ahrimanes bon didnt commit suicide NUMBER 1 bon is my favorite person in history i know quite a bit about him so ozzy must be fucking retarded for saying suicide solution instead of choked on his own puke for being beyond drunk solution period.
Respond to this video... @ahrimanes bon didnt commit suicide NUMBER 1 bon is my favorite person in history i know quite a bit about him so ozzy must be fucking retarded for saying suicide solution instead of choked on his own puke for being beyond drunk solution period.
@Saltwaterowl I don't know how much clearer I can make this... I never said that Bon committed suicide, and neither did Ozzy. Ozzy refers to alcohol as a "Suicide Solution", as in a solution that can cause you to commit suicide, WHETHER YOU INTEND TO OR NOT.
Ozzy says in his Don't Blame Me documentary that Bon died by alcohol overdose... this inspired him to write a song about the dangers of alcohol abuse and how it can kill you, whether you intend it to or now.
Cobain was an average guitarist but he had an amazing touch...Randy should have easily made the top 10!!! Rolling Stone has officially lost all relevance...
Lol someone's either a troll, or really susceptible to trolling, because it appears as though I've trolled them unintentionally XD I say Andres Segovia should be somewhere near the top, he's fricken amazing =D
@tdoggy1971 I don't think he is the greatest, but he is up there for sure. Did someone really bring Cobain into this conversation? How pathetic. My pick is Iommi. Ozzy seems to attract the best axe men.
@ZombiemanSteve I'm going to have to remember that, the next time I find myself locked up in another stupid argument about Kurt Cobain (and it will happen). Few will argue today that Grohl isn't a better guitarist. And Rolling Stone has lost it's relevancy in Rock. They should stick to covering Britney and The Black Eyed Peas.
@ZombiemanSteve Dave is a musician. He played guitar in bands before he picked up the drums. Kurt was really a song writer. He did have a Van Halen phase when he was a kid, but the only song he could figure out was DOA which was all power chords. Some people aren't interested in soloing...
@ZombiemanSteve I totally agree, but Dave was a guitarist before being a drummer and had guitar lessons, he didn't have drum lessons. I loved Nirvana back when they were around, but in honesty I feel that Foo Fighters are a far superior band. Nirvana may well have died out by now had Kurt lived but Foo Fighters remain strong.
That Rolling Stone list was a travesty in so many ways. Kurt Cobain has to be the most over-rated 'rock star' of the friggin century! It doesn't matter though because Randy's music will shine like a beacon of awsomeness for decades if not centuries.
I clicked on this to hear Randy Rhoads but I can't help noticing that Ozzy is a terrible singer. He's not even in the ball park pitch-wise on the "high" notes.
Ranking Randy Rhodes and Kurt Cobain together is like ranking apples and oranges. I like them both but seriously do you see what I mean.Rip- Randy Rhoads - Kurt Cobain your best regardless.
ahhhh, Randy's pure sounding guitar and tasteful, amazing fills are just perfect compared to the wishy washy showboat phenoms that are Zakk and Gus. Subtlety is everything
Remember every one, Kurt Cobain is the single, one only man on the planet @ the time to kill the guitar lead. None of there "Hippy Grunge" songs even have a lead in them 'Cuz he was lame & put in another section there. "Looser" ! Randy is up there with Page,Hendrix,Vaughn,Halen & was a gate way to Vai, Malmstein, & so on. One year Mick Mars won guitar player of the year, Guitar Player Mag.? It's all politics ! Just like who your going to like & speak your mind here, that's what it's hear for !
Randy Rhoads is one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived. we lost him way too young, and i wish we had heard more of him. im only 14, but this guy has had a huge part in who i am today, from learning his legendary crazy train lick, to just listening to his playing. A true legend. THIS is what people my age should be listening to.
@TheCrue4eva - Dude, you rock & seem to be very preservative, I'm 46 & seen Randy & Ozzy live on first & 2nd tours & yes their a couple that can change your life in a positive way. I ended up working for Ozzy as a guitar tech, & then later again on a video as a animation director, but seeing Randy do his thing is so inspiring to so many. Keep on playing & study only the best players, as it seem you do! Develop your own style as well, & most of all, have fun @ it ! Have something to fall back on?
@MickZewOMG thanks for the heads up, nothing beats this kind of music, and i wont ever stop playing it, even if im hated for it. this is real music, and i aint afraid to show that! Thats a pretty awesome story! i wish i has seen randy play live, but we cant get everything we want :) Keep playing this sort of stuff loud and proud!
Oh please Cobain over Randy!!!!!!!!!!!!! ???? Tards rule the Press!!!!! NO Way NO How Cobain is better than Randy!!!! As a matter of fact I can come up with a dozen x 2 Better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But at the moment maybe a few will do. B B KING. Eric Clapton. Stevie Ray. Jimi Hendrix.. Joe Satriany. Steve V. Jake E Lee. Zack Wilde. Hell even Ted Nugent!! Oh Yeah... Jeff Beck. J. Page!! Robin Trower. Oh Well I guess i got carried away!! Hey R>S> I Quit Reading your crap years ago because you suck!
justin beiber needs to hit puberty and lose his career already what a chump, as for Randy Rhoads, he is a legend and deserves better than the 85th spot , the Randy Rhoads tribute vinyl kicks ass as well, (specially on HI-FI)
he makes it look effortless......this is what i grew up with and .....this is what i will die with .....fuck this bubble gum rock shit they play now ......
Ah man....takes me back to my teen years. Smoking weed, drinking and chasing pussy on the weekends. I didn't care much for the hair metal of the time (mostly because my parents had spoiled me with 60's and 70's stuff), but Ozzy was different and Randy was a god to all of us kids.
48 people have an opinion and i completely respect that

@surana87s I've been listening to rock/metal music maybe longer than you are alive. Or at least since you pissed off your mother from a crib. I suggest you start expanding your horizons past that bloated toad Ozzy and his entourage going downhill since 1979. Then maybe you won't look like a showoff. Good way to start would be to UTFG and find the bands of the people from my list. After that, there are many I did not mention. You may be surprised by what you find.
ludekkZmrd 9 months ago
@ludekkZmrd hey kid...i know u r saying this just coz u see 87 in my name...but the fact is...this is the date i got the best guitarist award at my highschool guitar battle....i think this is enough for u now!!
surana87s 9 months ago
@surana87s Haha! Very funny. In that case either your profile lies (student, 23) or you are lying here just to appear old and wise. Either way I call that a FAIL. Another fail would be to change you profile after this comment so you apper legit. Anyway I'm having fun. Hey, and have you UTFG yet? The exciting and magic world of hard rock and heavy metal is waiting. And if you have the courage to cross the Rainbow Bridge, you may find the Sacred Heart. I wonder if you get that reference.
ludekkZmrd 9 months ago
@ludekkZmrd my profile is fake...that's just to trick ppl like u :P.....let's stop wasting our time.....to the poing :P.......UTFG???? for what???...sorry...not enough information...make me clear....

@surana87s UTFG so maybe it can bring some light into your delusions of grandeur. BTW, nice face job, old man. Can I get the number of your plastic surgeon?

@surana87s Still trying to annoy me with my age that you don't know? Sooo, let me get this straight. You are a guy who:
1. Tries to establish his superiority by his "greater age",
2. "sure" knows better,
3. has a fake profile/lies on the internet,
4. adores blindly his teen idol (RR),
5. has a hard time with punctuation,
6. FEEDS THE OBVIOUS TROLL.
If that"s not childish behavior then I don't know what is. Backup theory is you are also a troll (long day at work/school perhaps?).

no ozzy wrote one line only " wine is fine but whiskeys quicker" bob wrote the song about osbourne and bob wrote all of the lyrics on blizard and diary the real truth will come out in his book later this year....he wrote 1 line in crowley too" was it polemically sent i wanna know what you meant" referring to something he had read about jimmy page writing to someone and ending the message " polemically yours jimmy" as he lived in aleister crowleys house

@wesley12106 suicide solution is not a tribute to bon scotts death you fuck lmao
Saltwaterowl 7 months ago
@Saltwaterowl If you watch "Don't Blame Me" Ozzy talks about this song and that the inspiration for it was, in fact, the death of Bon Scott.
ahrimanes 7 months ago
@ahrimanes ok just saying #1 bon didnt commit suicide if you told that to any harcore ac dc fan they would smack you so i guess ozzy must be fucking retarded
Saltwaterowl 7 months ago
@Saltwaterowl He's not saying he did... the word "solution" in the title refers to a liquid, in the case, alcohol. It's not "Suicide Solution" as in using suicide to solve your problems, but "Suicide Solution" as in alcohol, when used incorrectly, can kill you. Again, something Ozzy talked about in "Don't Blame Me."
ahrimanes 7 months ago
@Saltwaterowl Ozzy used "solution" in the title to refer to a chemical solution (or chemical compound), which any alcoholic drink is. "Suicide Solution", therefore, refers to alcohol as being a "suicide compound" or "suicide drink". Again, if you watch "Don't Blame Me" Ozzy talks in detail about what the title of the song means and what his inspiration for the song was.
ahrimanes 6 months ago
@ahrimanes if thats your opinion then let it be.... NUMMBBBEEERRR 1 .1.1.1.1.1 number 1 bon scott did not commit suicide bon is my favorite person in history i know quite a bit about him he did not commit suicide so ozzy must br fucking retarded period for saying suicide solution instead of choked on his on puke to death for being beyond drunk solution overall what im saying is he did not commit suicide
Saltwaterowl 6 months ago
@Saltwaterowl Drinking to get DRUNK is a slow form of suicide ....so technically ozzy is correct . Alcohol is a disgusting "solution " ....never the answer to your problems - I wish that anyone who is unhappy can turn from drink and address whatever problem that is really deep down inside ...but that takes a lot of guts .
I simply wish anyone battling depression well ....doctors dont prescribe alcohol for depression ....and of course there is a reason for that . I'm sure ozzy would agree .

Respond to this video... @ahrimanes bon didnt commit suicide NUMBER 1 bon is my favorite person in history i know quite a bit about him so ozzy must be fucking retarded for saying suicide solution instead of choked on his own puke for being beyond drunk solution period.
Saltwaterowl 6 months ago
@Saltwaterowl I don't know how much clearer I can make this... I never said that Bon committed suicide, and neither did Ozzy. Ozzy refers to alcohol as a "Suicide Solution", as in a solution that can cause you to commit suicide, WHETHER YOU INTEND TO OR NOT.
Ozzy says in his Don't Blame Me documentary that Bon died by alcohol overdose... this inspired him to write a song about the dangers of alcohol abuse and how it can kill you, whether you intend it to or now.

@wesley12106 not true, this song was about Ozzy and his drinking problem and lyrics was written by Bob Daisley...

joyner2011 1 year ago
@joyner2011 Kurt Cobain was not really a good guitarist, he was a song writer above all, and he even admited he wasnt good.
InscureChickin 11 months ago
@joyner2011 Dude seriously, Kurt was okay, but his drummer is a better guitarist than he was. AND HE'S A DRUMMER.
ZombiemanSteve 11 months ago 3
@ZombiemanSteve I'm going to have to remember that, the next time I find myself locked up in another stupid argument about Kurt Cobain (and it will happen). Few will argue today that Grohl isn't a better guitarist. And Rolling Stone has lost it's relevancy in Rock. They should stick to covering Britney and The Black Eyed Peas.
matsellah 11 months ago
@ZombiemanSteve Dave is a musician. He played guitar in bands before he picked up the drums. Kurt was really a song writer. He did have a Van Halen phase when he was a kid, but the only song he could figure out was DOA which was all power chords. Some people aren't interested in soloing...
DarthKazi 10 months ago
@ZombiemanSteve I totally agree, but Dave was a guitarist before being a drummer and had guitar lessons, he didn't have drum lessons. I loved Nirvana back when they were around, but in honesty I feel that Foo Fighters are a far superior band. Nirvana may well have died out by now had Kurt lived but Foo Fighters remain strong.

That Rolling Stone list was a travesty in so many ways. Kurt Cobain has to be the most over-rated 'rock star' of the friggin century! It doesn't matter though because Randy's music will shine like a beacon of awsomeness for decades if not centuries.

guitarlad89 1 year ago
Remember every one, Kurt Cobain is the single, one only man on the planet @ the time to kill the guitar lead. None of there "Hippy Grunge" songs even have a lead in them 'Cuz he was lame & put in another section there. "Looser" ! Randy is up there with Page,Hendrix,Vaughn,Halen & was a gate way to Vai, Malmstein, & so on. One year Mick Mars won guitar player of the year, Guitar Player Mag.? It's all politics ! Just like who your going to like & speak your mind here, that's what it's hear for !
MickZewOMG 1 year ago 2
Randy Rhoads is one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived. we lost him way too young, and i wish we had heard more of him. im only 14, but this guy has had a huge part in who i am today, from learning his legendary crazy train lick, to just listening to his playing. A true legend. THIS is what people my age should be listening to.
TheCrue4eva 1 year ago
