  • better yet- why are we talking about insurance at all? health insurance in and of itself is a cancer to society. if healthcare insurance did not exist, doctors / hospitals would be competeing to LOWER cost. things like car insurance are a necessity, but in my opinion health insurance and life insurance are scams to legally allow companies to get windfalls of cash. these systems encourage doctors to over charge!eliminate health insurance, allow the free market to create competition, & we all win!

  • Obamacare was signed on March 2010 with 59% of the people disapproving according to a CNN poll. The CBO scored Obamacare on six years of coverage for 10 years of taxes, which is how the CBO showed the bill to be deficit neutral . It’s unconstitutional mandating all citizens to purchase health care. Even Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill, so you can find out what is in it.” watch?v=KoE1R-xH5To It’s also meant to take over industry watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk

  • I don't want to pay for medicare. If I don't want to use it, then I should not have to pay for it. Why is that hard for so many people to believe? If you want it...THEN PAY INTO IT!

  • yeah theyve been lying and fearmongering to keep single payer healthcare out since fdr.

  • reagan looked old even back then

  • Rachel Maddow is a huge Dyke with bad breath yo!

  • it embarasses me that we are a third world country - - I keep waiting for the missionaries and peace corp.

  • I wish more journalist's were as brave as Rachel! There to much tolerance for bullshit in mainstream media.. I even find CNN frustrating to watch.

  • I think that's the first time Rachel's even "done it to a Dick." lol

  • Ha Ha Ha. :p

  • Since when did we start forcing people into Medicare? I understand it's publically funded (and provides a really good fallback for people who have private insurance that either fails or becomes unaffordable), but if I have to pay a little more tax to have that extra security (if I choose), what's the harm?

People who get into Medicare get into it by choice. There is no tyranny; it is an option, just like universal health care would be, and gives a good system that is truly helpful.

  • Oh Kentucky - the rich want you to believe that it will ruin our economy - it this goes through - there might be less money for the rich people who deserve only the best and you don't - hey the poor deserve to pay taxes so the weathly can remain wealthy and not pay taxes and live off the labor of the working slaves. So poor people die - it isn't like they have anything to live for.

  • How is it an option? I'm 21, and I see my paycheck paying for it, even though I don't want to pay for it. Do I have the option to OPT OUT? No, I don't. Why should I pay for something that I want no part of? Armey is right. There is no real option.

  • You do realize there's a difference between a public option and universal health care, right? Public option means you're paying for cheaper-costing health care that's more stable and of better quality, but it's still an option. You have the ability to opt out and use private insurance. It's like choosing between the USPS and UPS: you don't have to use one or the other. Quit calling the public option something it's not.

  • No, thats not true. I've have spoken to both of my senators' legislative directors' and they have both told me, quite rudely, I'll have to take part in it to help to bring down the 'Cost Curve'. Through the bill, I'll be forced to buy gov approved private insurance, or sign up for the public option. But hey, you go vote for Jack Conway.

  • @KentuckyKid84 But it's a scam. there is no real option. The whitehouse website calls is "Pay or Play" -- in other words, you're gonna do it or you're gonna PAY, one way or another. there is no option here, calling it an option is designed to confuse those who dont investigate the truth further. if you want to create a "option" then why are we changing the ENTIRE system? why not just create a true option or system for those 30 something million with no insurance.

  • We are rooting for you here in England too. I`ve been following this discussion for a while. I`d like for once for common sense to prevail over the shouting mobs, or at least over the pharmaceutical lobbyists.

  • When we can spend trillions of dollars on unnecessary wars, and while 20,000+ people are dying annually due to a lack of health insurance. It seems to me the only debate should how are we going to make sure everyone is covered, not whether we're going to.
