We want to show how cool the game is once it picks up, but if we go too far in people cry "spoiler" This segment was at the very beginning, just after the prequel chapter, which did not really show off the games graphics or plot well.

They're NOT orks. They are DEMONS with a connection to The Fade (the Realm of the Dead and Spirits). AND they can only assemble to attack the surface world (Ferelden), when an ArchDemon arises to lead them. Which is about every 400-500 years or so.

very true, and also, i wanted to make this clear, da:o is the best game I've ever played, and it's story is just much more awesome than LOTR. What i meant to say in my comments was there were some simlarities, which were not completely equal in detail and scope, but that elements were the smae in both games. Another example would be magic. In both worlds, magic plays a different role, is used in a different way, and mean different things, but both worlds have magic, thats kinda what i meant :P

They may be 'based' on the idea or orcs. But in these games (Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, DA:O) They are NOT Orcs. There is a distinct difference right down to why they exsist even. DA:O is just delivering something that Baldur's Gate fans wanted to take part in... A Battle against the Darkspawn and a journey into the Fade. Which they delivered wonderfully well IMO.

Yes... there was... It's not a direct follow up, because you've changed lands, and it's a different AGE. But this is indeed taking place on the same world that Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 did. There were Grey Warden's in Baldur's Gate 1&2 in a couple of the cities as contacts with quests.
