  • @Gal994 Zulu.

  • I cried... beautiful!

  • This reminds me of my mother. She was born and raised in Cape Town. Growing up in America, she sang this to us many times. Though I am living in Perth, Austrailia, I am a very proud of my South Africian ancestry! GREAT SONG!!!

  • fantastic music

    me encanta

  • song is great.... try not to repeat the pictures..... hint....

  • Not actually very true ... learn what the song is really about .... it would be better. I come from South Africa .... pictures are not from South Africa

  • goodddddddddddd

  • der song ist einfach nur geil...Sehr gutes vid, sehr traurige bilder...

  • geil!!!!!

  • As a true South African - this is the greatest

  • Beautiful montage.

  • @spicee221 Please tell me what was beautiful about seeing slavery and bodies disposed of in a pit or a starving man in a failed field crop u stupid fuck!

  • @HeadshotPwn Before you act all ignorant and fling insults, you should have asked me to clarify what I meant. What I meant was that the montage as in the assembly, not the content was beautifully done. I don't know if the person who did it has a background in film, but they did a wonderful job with the compilation and I was moved to tears by their work. You don't know me or what I do in life to call me stupid so take it back!

  • @spicee221 Ok i take back the 'stupid' part ....but the "fuck" stays :P

  • Pete Seeger did a really great version f this back n the late 50s early 60s

This is a bit "smooth" !!

  • Brilllllliant

  • uuhhh god dont tell me helmut lotti sang this.... uuhh god :S

  • teribble!

  • Comment removed

  • It bugs me that Pete Seeger tried to take credit for writing this song.

  • i luv it it reminds me of the best tyme in ma lyf!!! Lmao

  • great song!

  • Woza Woza....

  • Forget the politics and enjoy the music....mzuri sana!!

  • @04jambo1956 You cannot forget the politics. The music is political by nature and now it is a celebration.

  • us South Africans are good is some stuff and in other stuff we suck like football, and then there are stuff we are good at like rugby and children are better educated...

  • amperes. surely with your comments about south africa.... you are either having a wind up, are dilussional, or need to be sectioned... south africa is the rape capital of the world, south africa has one of the highest murder rates, per capita in the world, armed robberies and armed hijackings (two of my family have had the pleasure (sic) of experiencing that particular pastime) are a daily occurance in all the bigger towns and cities. schooling is a shambles. yeah right better under the anc ...

  • Ampers says (with wide eyed innocence) Moi? Surely not!

  • Lovely song, but I prefer the Drakensberg Boys Choir version.

Thanks to the ANC, South African is a much safer country than it was under Apartheid, there is more honesty in Government, The infrastructure works better, children are better educated, and the people are better fed.

    Viva South Africa.

  • you're kidding right?

  • Ummmm....I take it that you were educated in the new system then....

  • This is what I read from the ANC pamphlets...

  • Great african music...

  • is much beter sing LOSLAPPIE...

  • african music! wooow this song brings tears in my eyes

  • I first heard this song 4 years ago in a concert and thought it was one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. This version of it is absolutely amazing.

  • Nice song!

    WORLD PEACE!

  • magnificent! these are the songs of our southern Africa ancestors - long brutalized in apartheid South Africa and in the darkest gold mines of the colonists. history in song & rhythm

  • This made me cry... The lead singer has a hauntingly powerful voice to deliver this song so amazingly....thank you. (New Zealand)

  • Wow, have been waiting for this song for ages. Thanx for posting....

  • No it doesn't mean that. It is saying a train that is leaving south africa and everyone must follow the train..

  • It doesn't mean we should all leave South Africa!

It is an traditional song sung by the mine workers from Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) on the train on their way to their work in the mines in the Witwatersrand Area (Johannesburg area)

  • You are right, but the direct translation of stimela siphume South Africa-is a train leaving south africa.. Hence the train is leaving for Zimbabwe

  • ndoda, original song was "stimela siphume Rhodesia", workers were coming from Zimbabwe.

  • the translation of the words is

"Go train go in those mountains

    The train from South Africa

You are running in those mountains

    The train from South Africa"

  • What does shosholoza mean (Chile, South America)

  • According to the Pete Seeger version it is about a steam train. The lyrics in his version say 'Steam away, steam away over the hills you train from Rhodesia. You are fast moving through hills, steam away you train from Rhodesia'. In every other version I have heard it says South Africa, not Rhodesia. Hope this helps.

  • cant tell u waht shozaloza means but in wikipedia i think it does, but what i can tell u is that the song was invented by mine workers in SA, or something like that.

  • i love this song!

  • Africa, a blessed and culturally rich people, burdened by barefaced leaders who lacked civil virtues. The leaders have failed to strife for the common good of the people of Africa. With the exception of Nelson Mandela and a handful of others, shame on the sick African leaders.

  • Excellent, viva!

  • great Captain Sarno. ciao Salvatore

  • great song. It makes me very home sick!!!!

  • GREAT version!

  • so perfect

  • love it *****
