@dcqec111 No one has made the summit from Pakistan since 2008. But in 2011 Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Maxut Zhumayev, Vassiliy Pivtsov and Darek Zaluski made the summit via the North Pillar on the Chinese side of the mountain. This made Gerlinde the first woman to climb all 14 8000'ers without oxygen.
I really do not get it: they went all that way, through all that trouble, and got just 500m from the summit and then they just turned back because there was too much snow??!!! WHAT?!! why couldn't they just shovel there way through??
hey man great great video! :o) I have to ask...whats the music playing at 1:12? It seems perfect for my surfing video background music...thanks man, cheers!
That is some awesome footage. Very few people will ever see it any other way. I hope to get that high in 2013. Hey Fab, are you going back? What company ran the expedition in '09?
I am a Colorado mountaineer myself, looking for any and all beta possible. Are you doing any slide shows any time soon?
@chill09871 It's not a road, it's the glaciers. They get covered in rocky debris as they slowly flow down valley. That's what the dark bands are. At 2:30 you can see two glaciers flowing together and then heading off left where they merge with more glaciers at Concordia. The rocky debris in the shots of basecamp is just a thin layer over the ice.
gr8 video...but really sad to know in the end that the guy didnt reached the k2 summit...any how..Pakistan is really a beautiful place to visit..i love Pakistan!
i have on a mountain approximately 5280 metres without much equipment i know how fuckin hard it is but the proud, joy and achievement u feel its amazing
Just imagine that you travel thousands of miles to reach the place and then climb 8000 + meters and then don't get to reach the summit!
Damn!

@killerwaz88 The work is just too exhausting at that altitude. And if you get stuck out in the dark descent can be extremely dangerous.
