I am completely convinced that Disney and all the other channels directed towards children are deliberately making their shows worse so that kids will be more inclined to go outside and play instead of watch TV. If they were to remake the Muppets as a show, it would be neat if they could make it primetime then it wouldn't even matter whether kids were playing outside or not.
Believe it or not, but the reason this movie even exists is because Jason Segel (The writer and "Gary" In the film) went up to Disney and asked them to produce it, because he wanted kids of our generation to know of the muppets
msninjani i think your wrong the muppets have always been a hit, it would be great and money didnt stop it before, its about the qualitie, ratings, laughter and fans
its funny how the muppet movie is about basically a money hungry corporation that wants to bastardize the image of the muppets and sell it off cheaply...because thats essentially what disney makes money doing.
@SeerSucker1981: Yet, it only grew that way out of necessity over the years, due to Hollywood's increasing exploitation of those trapped within the fanciful nature of being famous.
Disney died with Walt. I can't hate them because they distribute Pixar.. but they're more the soulless, ex band leader, now filthy bus driver to Pixar's gifted kids program.
@tommenno: No, even in the Einser era before he left & eventually died in 2009, the same year the 3rd voice of Mickey--Wayne Allwine--passed on, Roy E. Disney, Walt's nephew, was around to make everything ran smoothly & didn't ruin the image his uncle created. It was not until he retired that Eisner began shaping things to his own liking, even choosing Bob Iger as his replacement, who has now removed Walt's name from the record by saying that tradition slows progress down.
@tommenno until now! Disney lives, And No, Disney is great, i've been a fan since i was little and still am, Disney still is and always will be great, Long live Disney!
@Firebrdsuite ok, 1. disney only release 1 or 2 amazing films once in a while (case in point the muppets and toy story 3) now a days and 2. the only good disney show on right now is phineas and ferb
@buchanproductions Lots of DIsney Shows are good, look At Kick Buttowski, Hannah Montanah, The Fairies Shorts, And their movies are also great, look at The War Horse, Brave, The Marvel Films ETC. Long Live Disney!
It's like each of my senses have been polluted. I can literally TASTE how terrible that show is.
Now, Disney has always been good at paying for great stories (Every princess movie ever) and not screwing them up as a movie. And it's hard to screw up classic comic stories, because they've been redone so many times all the ways you can screw them up have already been done and shunned accordingly.
@Firebrdsuite Just cause Disney bought Pixar doesn't suddenly make them any good. Sure, they've BOUGHT some good production companies, (Muppet Studios, Pixar) but they themselves haven't chugged out any good content in years.
And don't start telling me that Hannah Montanah is good. I shan't hear a word of it.
@Firebrdsuite No they're NOT, you don't speak for disney, and DO NOT have the right to say anything on their behalf now shut up and keep your mouth shut unless you have something SMART to say!
@PrimalWolf2006 Gee, angry much? I can admit Disney's doing a crappy job on their channels, but the movies are ACTUALLY good again. Effort.
Most Disney Channel shows are low maintenance now. All you need is a few kids, a half-assed script, a couple of sets, and BOOM, instant hit. The Muppets would need puppets, professional puppeteers, actors, guest stars, and musicians. You think Disney Channel will spend the time and money on all these things?
@Firebrdsuite Then quit replying like a retarded troll.........DISNEY shows today SUCK.......you seem to not realise there are THOUSANDS of people who think that.....one little fag like you isn't going to change the TRUTH
@MsNinjani Actually, it's because it was Mr. Henson's wish that the show stopped at its highest point. Anything else would be insulting. Let's just stick with the great movies, right?
@MsNinjani Only problem with that theory, is that went through with a movie, and not a TV show. If they made a movie, they would HAVE to make a tv show.
Also, the muppets weren't considered as a kids show back in their day. They were a comedy act.
May we have the old show of the muppets and new versions of it... But it better it not be crappy as HELL.... We want the same childhood show that we all fell in love with
@XxElphabaPotterxX Even Sam the Eagle could approve of THAT comment... as long as he didn't know what "heart-warming classics" you were talking about.
@TeamRocketRockin: But outside of the Fraggles, Jim gave ownership of his characters to CTW--now Sesame Workshop--and Disney, in 2001 & 2004, respectively. Sure, the Frog will always represent Jim in the same way the Mouse represents Walt (for as Wayne Allwine was told in the 80s, "Remember, you're just filling in for the boss") and how Rainbow Connection represents the Muppets as Disney is represented by When You Wish Upon a Star, the Mouse & the Frog are like family now.
I was pointing out how some want the Muppets out of Disney due to the current product, even though Jim gave the Muppets to the Mouse House when he was still alive. Plus, the TV stations are separate from the theme parks--which have kept the heritage of the Disney empire (notice how there are no rides based on the tween TV shows)--and though Bob may try to erase Walt from history & Anne might ruin the network, it is true fans who keep the magic alive moreso than anyone!

@DubbingforDreams I may be a kid of the 2000's but i know what you mean, i love old disney and old stuff like that and most of my age group are sucked in by family guy and other shows, luckily i grew up with old disney and know it
If I could bring back ANY show it would SO be the muppets! I don`t know why they havn`t already! I mean, the muppets inspire kids to laugh along with someone rather than at them. To love others for who they are rather than what they have or do and just have fun!
My school band is playing this as one of the songs for the Spring Concert. I play the flute which is one of the melody parts. We just got the part the other day, so i'm not too good at it yet, so I can't wait to hear the final outcome! I was just on here to see what the song was like at the regular tempo with the lyrics. Great video! Thanks :)
@TeamRocketRockin Yeah! I always thought it was weird when Jim Henson says "It's time to GET things started..." The way Jim says "Get" just seems really weird to me...
@stabbybelkar And your point being? I said this is the first movie where I DIDN'T constantly think to myself wha doesn' kermit sound like kermit. Meaning Steve Whitmire did an amazing job. So I don't really see what you are trying to tell me :P
@stabbybelkar Brian did do the voice of Kermt but only on 2 occasions i think (one of them was a very muppet christmas). The primary muppeter since 1990 was Steve and has voice kermit ever since except on some rare ocasions on show appearances. I don't want to sound like a know it all mean guy (becasue I'm really not) but look up on the info before you post. Wikipedia is really not that hard to use.
I think if they made a new Muppet Show, it would work best online. It would give them more of that creative freedom they've been known for. Not to mention it's where their comeback first began, if you remember how successful the Youtube videos have been.
ITS TIME TO PLAY THE MUSIC ITS TIME TO LIGHT THE LIGHTS ITS TIME TO MEET THE MUPPETS ON THE MUPPETS SHOW TONIGHT!!! OMG I WANT TO MEET THE MUPPETS!!!!!:]
@wiiking9 I totally agree. I don't know why they don't reboot this, and give the people the creative freedom they need to make it great. Oh wait, I forgot, it's disney
@wiiking9 listen, I've never seen a real Muppet show but a couple weeks ago i got on here and i watched some and they spoke to me i teared up watching them because i always missed them!
@SonicPhan630 Micheal Eisner: he was the CEO at Disney from the mid-80s until about 2004. At first he did fantastic things around the company but in the in the mid-90s shit just spiraled out of control. He signed a deal to buy the Muppets from the Hensons but when Jim Henson died he also tried to take Sesame Street from the Hensons and they wanted to keep that. He basically fucked the relationship between Disney and the Hensons. Eisner infamous for effing up Disney channel and more
@Costerguy1234556 Grrrr, that Eisner. How I despise him... That ogre destroyed what Disney truly was! You can bet that if he were still in charge, this movie wouldn't have been so successful. Also, his attempt to add the Sesame Street gang was around the time Henson was still alive.
@wiiking9 Well, you Don't appreciate a good studio that was made by a great creator that brought animation to where it is today, even Warner Brothers, PBS, Nickelodeon, And Anime ETC. wouldn't be here today if not for Disney!
@Firebrdsuite Don't get me wrong, I love Disney. It mis the channel they have. Disney Channel. I hate the shows on Disney Channel. I love Disney, not Disney Channel. Big difference.
@Firebrdsuite disney's CURRENT shows SUCK...........gargoyles, mighty ducks, kim possible, american dragon, etc.........GOOD but not all this hannah montana, lizzie mcguire stuff and stfu with the buy everything back LIES
@Firebrdsuite ROFLMAO!!............that is the most retarded thing i've EVER read.....pbs - nickelodeon, warner brothers and anime HAVE nothing to do with disney.........my god talk about downright, moronic trolling!
@PrimalWolf2006: Warner Bros. would NOT exist without Disney. See, Carl Sterling (known best for composing the tunes for Looney Tunes), Ub Iwerks (the man who drew Oswald & Mickey for Walt), & even the Sherman Bros. (the duo behind many of Disney's classic songs) worked for the fledgling Warner Bros. after leaving Walt after the War. The Shermans (following a stint with Hanna-Barbara) returned, but Iwerks (who went on to Universal) & Sterling (who stayed with the WB) didn't.
@PrimalWolf2006: No. Carl Sterling--a symbol of the golden age of Warner--worked for & with Walt before WB truly began. Yes, Universal existed, but Warner & its identifiable Bosko and Looney Tunes came AFTER Walt created Oswald (hell, Bosko IS Oswald essentially, but minus the rabbit ears) & Mickey (Mick was made in 1928 & his top rivaling mascot in Bugs Bunny didn't come out until the 1940s or thereabouts).
Why are we arguing about how good disney is on a less then one minute theme song clip?

@stabbybelkar And your point being? I said this is the first movie where I DIDN'T constantly think to myself wha doesn' kermit sound like kermit. Meaning Steve Whitmire did an amazing job. So I don't really see what you are trying to tell me :P
winnetouch 1 month ago
@winnetouch well i dont want to sound like a troll and get in to an angument but didnt brian henson do the voice of kermit after jim henson died
stabbybelkar 1 month ago
@stabbybelkar Brian did do the voice of Kermt but only on 2 occasions i think (one of them was a very muppet christmas). The primary muppeter since 1990 was Steve and has voice kermit ever since except on some rare ocasions on show appearances. I don't want to sound like a know it all mean guy (becasue I'm really not) but look up on the info before you post. Wikipedia is really not that hard to use.

Somebody dub this into the beginning:
Kermit: It's the Muppet Show, with our very special guest star, Mr. Jack Black! (high-pitch) YAAAAAAAYYY!

Heard they are making a reboot coming out next year on ABC how exciting
XxTEKNOLOGIKxX 1 month ago
I think if they made a new Muppet Show, it would work best online. It would give them more of that creative freedom they've been known for. Not to mention it's where their comeback first began, if you remember how successful the Youtube videos have been.

videogamemaniac83 1 month ago
@videogamemaniac83 It's still pretty effy between the Henson's and Disney. Especially considering the crap Eisner pulled off.
Costerguy1234556 1 month ago
@Costerguy1234556 Sorry but who's Eisner and what did he do?
SonicPhan630 1 month ago
@SonicPhan630 Micheal Eisner: he was the CEO at Disney from the mid-80s until about 2004. At first he did fantastic things around the company but in the in the mid-90s shit just spiraled out of control. He signed a deal to buy the Muppets from the Hensons but when Jim Henson died he also tried to take Sesame Street from the Hensons and they wanted to keep that. He basically fucked the relationship between Disney and the Hensons. Eisner infamous for effing up Disney channel and more
Costerguy1234556 1 month ago
@Costerguy1234556 Ooooohhhh..... well he sucks.
SonicPhan630 1 month ago
@Costerguy1234556 Grrrr, that Eisner. How I despise him... That ogre destroyed what Disney truly was! You can bet that if he were still in charge, this movie wouldn't have been so successful. Also, his attempt to add the Sesame Street gang was around the time Henson was still alive.

@Firebrdsuite ROFLMAO!!............that is the most retarded thing i've EVER read.....pbs - nickelodeon, warner brothers and anime HAVE nothing to do with disney.........my god talk about downright, moronic trolling!
PrimalWolf2006 2 weeks ago
@PrimalWolf2006: Warner Bros. would NOT exist without Disney. See, Carl Sterling (known best for composing the tunes for Looney Tunes), Ub Iwerks (the man who drew Oswald & Mickey for Walt), & even the Sherman Bros. (the duo behind many of Disney's classic songs) worked for the fledgling Warner Bros. after leaving Walt after the War. The Shermans (following a stint with Hanna-Barbara) returned, but Iwerks (who went on to Universal) & Sterling (who stayed with the WB) didn't.
TherealRNO 1 week ago
@TherealRNO warner bros was founded in 1918, DECADES before the WALT DISNEY company EXISTED......nice try but FAIL!
PrimalWolf2006 1 week ago
@PrimalWolf2006: No. Carl Sterling--a symbol of the golden age of Warner--worked for & with Walt before WB truly began. Yes, Universal existed, but Warner & its identifiable Bosko and Looney Tunes came AFTER Walt created Oswald (hell, Bosko IS Oswald essentially, but minus the rabbit ears) & Mickey (Mick was made in 1928 & his top rivaling mascot in Bugs Bunny didn't come out until the 1940s or thereabouts).

@TherealRNO Guess again..........WARNER CARTOONS came after disney, NOT
