@mlabonte05 I have a POD X3 PRO and my friend got the new HD, we put em side by side. To be all honest, they sounded fairly similar. Guitar alone, the HD distorted guitar sounded a little better. But once you put the guitars into the mix of the song with everything else, I don't think the small difference will really stand out and make a difference in the overall sound. You're fine with either unit really. Not a day or night difference. It's basically just a X3 Pro with slight touch ups. imo.

@OldskoolDM80s90s apparently you can connect direct to a PA and record direct to PC via USB (you need a DAW) Mine has just turned up today, but i don't know how to use it in conjuction with the power amp stage of my 5150 (as there is no 'power amp in' on it, only a 'preamp out')

@DubStepVIIX you don't necesarily need a poweramp to run the pod thru a cab, but you won't get very Far. The pod puts out something along the lines of 40 watts, and it'll blow your socks off pretty well in a bedroom setting, but for a live setting you'll want a poweramp of at least 100 watts id think.

@smsphl It ( seems to me ) better for metal than anything else. Hardest thing with any pod is fitting into your practical purpose. It has more clean-ish / 80'sish rock models. But they all need a lot of tweaking to get to sound like that marshall or fender you're use to hearing. I have found for the heavy amp models I need to do less tweaking to get them to sound heavy and awesome. The desktop x3 is cheaper and has all the same amp models. The pro is great if you need it as you're studio hub

I'm considering purchasing X3 Pro, but I need some help. First off, I know there's a USB 2.0 on it, but I would like to avoid it for now. What I would like to do is use X3's S/PDIF in/out as DI box and reamp box. I mean, send unprocessed guitar to S/PDIF out and record it on my DAW, then feed it back to X3 through S/PDIF in and record processed guitar using S/PDIF out. Is this posible? Thanx a lot!

@woksin If anything, it should be easier. Just make sure you're going in through the FX loop, and not the input. If you go in through the input, you'll be running the POD through the preamp of whatever amp you're using. If you go in through the FX loop, you'll bypass that and go straight to the power section, with the POD serving as the preamp (which is what it technically is).

If you're going to use nothing but POD sound in a live enviroment, that's pretty much the way to do it.
