  • People to settle these arguments, they dont consider themselves to be christian rock but they are labeled by that by sum, does it matter what their label is? NO! I wouldn't care if they were labeled as "loud as shit" by old ppl So honestly? be quiet about their genre of music and enjoy as they rape your eardrums =D

  • Jon Foreman = Lyrical Assassin

  • this is music people...music about life...period....end of story.....like switchfoot or don't like them.....i don't care.......give these songs your own meanings......youtube isn't a website for debates.......

  • @haydenspears19 you're right

  • Christian Rock, is exactly about the Christian Religion. Anyone saying otherwise are justifying listening to it.

  • I am flat out, hard core, insatiably addicted to the epic nature of this song...

  • One of my favorite songs. I lost count of how many people I showed this song - and this band. I'm not a christian person - even thought I was raised in a christian church - and to be honest I'm not even sure if I believe in God but, what I like about Switchoot is that they don't make music to christian people. They do music to everybody. The lyrics are about love and trouble and all the kind of situations, feelings or thoughts that all type of person has

  • These guys are awesome live. <3 I love them!!!

  • This video really shows just how epic they are live. It was the best day of my life when I saw them. Rock on Switchfoot!!

  • i heard this song in a movie and i wanted to know what it was so i went on youtube and found it here

  • this is the best rock music video I have ever heard in my life plus i like switchfoot

  • thank god for swichfoot if swichfoot was not here we would just look like old people in church singing boring songs.

    ps: we can party to

  • I got to meet them in like 2001! They are the most amazing guys and are so awesome live!!!

  • ah you know what would be nice, if everyone could listen to good music and take their own message from it without talking whatsoever about religion because everyone has a different opinion, yeah that would be great wouldnt it

  • check my covers out at my channel !

  • silly people come to listen to a good song and end up talking about religion on here when they should be out talking about it to people who haven't heard the word of god and help change them not some stuck up pricks on youtube

  • @clorett15 Couldn't have said it better myself. : )

  • Switchfoot tries to spread good words and morals, the purpose of their song is not for trolls to rant about it on the internet. So stop giving this video bad rap, cause you feel like being a douche.

  • they need a new video editor for their music videos. this song's fun/intense and the video doesnt quite do it justice

  • I like it but I fucking hate Christians. I'll just pretend that's not what they are singing about

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE nothing wrong with christians as a whole but yes some people who claim the title of "christian" arent and have no idea what they are talking about. give some of us a chance :)

  • @000JessicaLynn000 That's a perfectly reasonable response. I know some kind, intelligent, humble Christians and those are people I like. HOWEVER very few "Christians" act like you

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE Learn how to respect others, and their different views. I'm not a Christian, but I'm listening to this.

  • @MrAbdi111 Um nope. Most Christians are batshit crazy. I wont respect them. Who the fuck are they to decide whether being gay is ok or not. This is a good song but christians can lick my nuts

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE Most people call themselves Christians but do not exercise their faith. So you cannot say these people you think are Christian, really are Christian. I think you should respect Christians, because Christianity is what started our country (USA). One nation...under God. God bless

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE FYI Homosexuality is a life decision, research the Xq28 gene if you want to read about research on homosexuality

  • @lolzpvp What does that have to do with anything? I'm saying that they aren't allowed to say that being gay is wrong.

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE Thats true, they cant say whether its right or wrong. But if someone else believes its wrong then let them believe that. Your saying what they believe is wrong so that means your a hypocrite because your mad that theyre saying being gay is wrong.... Just get over it and quit starting fight on youtube comments

  • @MrThatswatshesed It is wrong to persecute someone based on their sexuality.

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE Why not? If someone believes that is their thing. By the way the bible makes it clear that it is wrong however that does not mean that Homosexuals are horrible people, everyone makes mistakes, its just that any kind of sex that isn't for the pure reason of mating, within a marriage, is wrong according to christian teaching.

  • @loganjkind17 Well then they are dumb. The Pope is a faggot

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE what??? nobody even mentioned the pope! If you dont agree then thats fine but you dont have to post offensive messages

  • @loganjkind17 Lol I don't feel like having an argument. My point is that I dont want to see some faggy paragraph about Christianityin the top comments

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE Then dont look

  • @MyExTreMeRoMaNcE Then maybe you should'nt look, think about that.

  • @BRIanna2755 Then maybe it shouldn't be there

  • Love it! Because whatever we do, whatever mess we make of ourselves, His grace covers it.

  • Awsome song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i freaking love this band!! sound amazing, spreads the word of God. i want nothing but to one day do what they do. even if its not being famous just playing music for God somewhere in some way

  • I will learn this song on the guitar if its the last thing i do

  • switch foot kicks ass!!!!!!

  • I envy people who can believe in fairy tales to make themselves happy.

  • @MrVincentbarajas45 It's not a fairy tale, I promise. It's almost, but not, too good to be true.

  • @StolenSunsets whtatever lets you sleep at nightt

  • Apparently Switchfoot is "my Christian band". Ive looked at other christian bands and this is the one that really makes me feel 'Home". It's hard tring to live in the world when inside you know it won't satisfy and you teach yourself to hate Christianity and, in turn, hate yourself. Odd turn of events. I just cant go back! I still love Layne Staley, Elliot Smith. Lou Reed, Neil Young and all my past friends and have groaned through trials with their wailings. They never had an answer. just ???s

  • i've made a mess of me....i wanna get back the rest of me

  • At 0:36 when Jon climbs on the banister, I was totally there! Assuming that was creationfest 2010, lol. At any rate I remember that and it was totally awesome

  • @serenityluvsgod

if you dont like this music then why the hell are you listening to it and posting on it?

  • they look like they have a lot of fun on stage. i want to see them in concert!

  • you guys need to come to burlington, vermont.

  • I really thought this video awesome. So true!!!!!! I think alot of people can relate with their own parts of their lives.

  • I think everyone should pray for Serenityluvsgod for he knows not what he does

  • *-* Beautiful

  • *-*

  • Rock music is UNholy music which the Holy Spirit cannot be a part of. Regardless of how sincere a person is, rock & religious rock, opens the door to UNholy, demonic spirits and leads to demonic oppression and even possession. God says that He will not receive those who engage in spiritual adultery and fornication with the world- those who have "touched" the unclean. These "Christians" think they are on the road to Heaven, but they are really on the road to Hell!

  • @serenityluvsgod you sir, can go and fuck yourself. to come on to a music video and preach your bullshit about god and hell and jesus and some godamn fucking angels is really not appreciated. go and talk about how god is gay somewhere else please.

  • @thisisdubstep999 I agree that this is no video that should be put down because it IS standing for God no matter what she says.

  • @serenityluvsgod you clearly have no clue what you are talking about. I'm in a "Christian" rock band and am strong in my faith and clearly not possessed lol

  • Comment removed

  • @estodden72 Why are you so bent on defending your rock god idol? Aren't you even interested in researching the true facts about rock music? Satan is actually laughing at you, because you're actually worshipping him & don't even know it! You think that you are pleasing God, but you are really an offense to Him! I pity you. If you were a true Christian, you would be more concerned w/what pleases God, instead of gratifying your flesh, & defending something based on your own feelings about it.

  • Comment removed

  • @serenityluvsgod What about the young girl your words drove to commit suicide?....yes, that's right, I know your real identity! She had come so far, from such a bad place, but finally found something good...especially in her favorite new band, Switchfoot, and new faith in God. Then while her faith and stability was still a bit weak....you came along and confused and tormented her to her end! How is that pleasing to God?

  • @serenityluvsgod Do you even listen to all the words in this songs?? Or do you just listen to the loudness and put it down because it's "New and hip"??

  • @serenityluvsgod Another thing dude, what about the song Jesus Freak by DC Talk, its about how Christians shouldn't care to be labeled Jesus Freaks and stand for their faith. Same for Shut Me Out by kutless.

  • @serenityluvsgod - ...yes, surely listening to Switchfoot/rock/pop/indie music is THE greatest 'sin' ever!? Get your facts right, honey! But YES, certain music DOES indeed influence one in a bad way, but hello...Switchfoot??? It's about the message Switchfoot promotes - it's GOOD.....an the sound aint too 'bad' aka oppressive either....My ears are fine!:)

  • When this song first came out, I hated it, pretentiously dismissing it as "emo" because of the lyrics. Fast forward to 2 years later, I listened to Vice Verses, loved it, decided to go back in their discography, and ended up rediscovering this song as a result. Wow, I was such an idiot.

  • when people click the dislike button on a song it is because they missed the meaning of the words in the lyrics, and it does not matter whether the song or band is Christian or not,

  • Comment removed

  • nossa, ainda bem que eu descobri essa banda. é totalmente incrivel !!

  • No matter how good a band is, christain or not, there will always be people who dislike them and have some excuse to click the "dislike" button on a youtube video, even when it is simply impossiable to hate the song IF YOU CLICKED ON IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. So, I do believe that almost all of the people that clicked the "dislike" button on here only did it because they know deep down they are missing something and they know Switchfoot has it.

  • Amo a este grupo ok? ok.

  • @glooer @Stumoo @IFantasticMrFoxI That's the impression I always get from videos like this: "Look how cool we are! We play music on a stage! We perform before thousands of adoring fans! We've totally got life made!" Which is all fine, yes, good for them, but it's completely at odds with the very poignant message of the song, which is that every last person's made a mess of their life and can't fix it on their own. I just feel like the ostentation of the video undermines the message in the song.

  • I Love the fact that they have a message in every song. And people who have never read the Bible don't know how to discern or read between the lines, What it's really being said. But even though they don't say God's name they believe in him and they are worshiping even when people don't think they are. That's the beauty about being a Christian we worship God in everything we do even when you can't see the meaning behind the action.

  • @MrsJurado4life Im sorry but your so wrong about this song having anything 2do with religion. Being an ex drug abuser there is no grey area when it comes to what this song is about!

  • @GwarRulzuMaggots with the help of Christ, he was able to "reverse this tragedy

and "spend the rest of [his] life alive." "there aint no drug to make me well" because it was Christ who changed him and made him well.

  • @MrsJurado4life i agree with you 100% on that one I am the same way in this and im Christian I worship god without people even knowing I do.

  • @MrsJurado4life I don't read the bible, but I hear it in church.

    Switchfoot is Christian rock

    Not gospel rock.

To understand switchfoot music, you need 2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 brain, and a level head.

The bible has nothing to do with this song

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic They are like Skillet, both are Christian bands, but not all over their songs have necessarily a direct biblical message, but a message could be perceived.

  • @lolzpvp exactly. christian rock isnt necesarilly about the christian religion. It's about striving to do your best with life, which just happens to be part of the christian religion.

also like skillet, Switchfoot is excellent live.

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic i agree, but then i disagree on the perspective. it is not necessarily that making the best of life is part of the christian religion, but that Jesus is real, and so your entire life was created for Him and to be in a relationship with Him; therefore, everything that happens is about Jesus. so i disagree on the presumed part that Jesus is just a part of life--because He is really all of life. All consuming, omnipresent, light of the world. Mark 12:30

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic This isn't christian rock anyway. The lead singer said he would prefer the band isn't considered that.

  • @HydroTweaker The lead singer is Jon Foreman. The band is Swtichfoot. Seeing them 4 times live I know what he considers him, his band, and his music. I do read up on his blogs too. I saw them one time and he said: "People condisder us Christian rock, but really I write about things I don't understand, like God, Girls, and Politics."

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic "The lead singer is Jon Foreman. The band is Switchfoot." What the fuck dude.

  • @HydroTweaker Oh, I figured I'd clarify because the way you were talking to me you made it sound like I know nothing about switchfoot, or Jon Foreman.

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic I implied nothing of the sort. My comment came from something he said in a documentary. It sounded like you implied that they are Christian rock, when they make it very clear they disagree with being labeled that. Please don't include any more useless information the next time you write a comment. If there is something i really want to know, I'll look it up on my own.

  • @HydroTweaker you cant believe everything you read #sellingthenews, but I did see them live, and have seen and heard the words come straightly from jon foremans mouth. I have also held jon foreman by his ankles as he looked me in the eyes, and screamed "this is the sound!!!" I am a huge fan of switchfoot, and I know what im talking about

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic I have multiple sources confirming he does NOT consider it Christian rock. If you don't believe me, Google it. And the rest of your comment... I don't understand your point.

  • @HydroTweaker I TOLD YOU IN CONCERT, HE SAID " PEOPLE CONSIDER US CHRISTIAN ROCK, BUT I WRITE SONGS ABOUT THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND, GOD, GIRLS, AND POLITICS." WE ARE ARGUING FOR THE SAME POINT NOW! READ THE COMMENT

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic CALM YOUR SHIT. MAKE YOUR POINTS CLEARER. QUIT BEING AN ASSHOLE. THANK YOU.

  • @ThePhilliePhanatic Yeah, Switchfoot is excellent live!

  • @ICIMagnetoIVI yess

  • @MrsJurado4life Are you saying us athiets don't have the right to enjoy this?

  • @MrsJurado4life amen!

  • Trojan condom ad before a christian video... marketing fail...

  • I love Switchfoot very much, but it's always pained me that this song is about the hopelessness of trying to save oneself and the mess the singer's made of his life, while the video is blatantly showing off how successful and awesome he is.

  • @Lomiel It was about how we all are, we make a mess of ourselves and no drugs (not necessarily real drugs) and other things in our lives to satisfy us. We all want to live like we are really alive.

  • @Lomiel at least that's how I interpret it.

  • @Lomiel yeah he may look like he has it all together. But maybe he himself knows better?

  • @Lomiel The video is simply clips of them performing and such. Its not intended to show off in anyway.

  • @Lomiel Actually I always thought it was perfectly suited. The lyrics aren't exactly the most subtle thing in the world, so they're no need for a very conceptual video. Also, musically this song is very energetic, so a live performance video can really add to the music.

  • @maalbe987 *there's

  • i love the hello huricane album

  • That's my song, it fits me well.

  • One of my fondest memories is holding jon forman's hand at a concert!! :)

  • VICE VERSES IS OUT

  • @topancho This isn't Vevo's channel, nor is it their video... This is Switchfoot's...

  • who else thinks that the singer looks like a blonde bradley cooper???

  • Get away from this video and go watch Switchfoot's newest music video for the song "Dark Horses"!

  • should be on VEVO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @sna1995 is

  • I'm pretty sure Murray Hill Theatre is in a couple of these shots.. Which is where I got to meet them August 2010. Best concert I've ever been to!

  • I was a fan from the beginning but after seeing them in concert a few days ago I am obsessed! =D I love how they just pour their souls out for their Lord and the result is reviving.

  • @PyrotechnicSweetSaus i agree! i have always loved them, but last night when i saw them live i fell in love!:)

  • i love switchfoot !! My dad even knows them!!

  • they will be in middleburg va sept 24 2011 at awakeningfest

  • 144 people suck a fat one XD

  • most epic video ever award... going to your concert in a week from tomorrow!! cant wait

  • I have GOT to go to one of their concerts or i'll diee

  • People keep on saying things like "I'm not religious, but this band is awesome" and stuff like that. You know what? I'm not religious. But I am a Christian. Being a true Christian isn't just another religion. I have a relationship with my Savior; the Creator of the World. And He loves me, and helped me rebuild my life, and continues to break me down and show me His ridiculous power and love. I know I'm going to Heaven when I die to be with my Lord forever. :)This is not just some religion.

  • @funkymunky700 this is the best comment ever posted. thank you :D

  • @vRobdog :)

  • This is an AWESOME song... While I was driving home one night a few weeks ago, this song came on Air1. As soon as it did, I rolled down my windows and cranked up the volume as far as it would go. *sigh* Good times. *crooked smile* Co ro zi e ta rum ni.

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

    ╭∩╮(︶︿︶)╭∩

  • Guitar-driven alternative rock. Be good to see them not stunt their growth, and break away from that Christan rock band bag. Again guitar-driven alternative rock band! GREAT SOUND leave religion where you found it.. move on

  • Yes? I am listening to this in 2011

No I'm not going to press any number? on? my? keyboard

No I'm not going to thumbs up your comment

    No?? I don't care what's wrong with 813 people

No I don't care about you 'raping' a button

No I? was? not sent here by? someone else

Music is there to be listened and appreciated,? unfortunately there are people out? there who? just don't see that. The music industry is? becoming more about marketing and less? about? musical quality

  • @herson423 just stop...

  • @herson423 What's with? the random? question? marks?????

  • @herson423 watsup with the question marks! gave me a headache

  • @herson423 The person below me thinks they're funny.

  • @herson423

So somehow people asking you to thumb their comment is the music industry becoming more about marketing... makes sense I guess.

  • I am a recovering alcoholic and addict and I LOVE THIS SONG!!!...I used to listen to a lot of music that was all about negative shit. Good to be able to find more clean music and lryics that have substance and good meaning. We all have to grow up sometime...otherwise we have to deal with the alternative.,.death or incarceration. God bless you all

  • This song is AWESOME!

  • This song is AWESOME!

  • Actually, they're alternative, but the members are christians. Same thing with anberlin.

  • Fuck religions post good song and hit the replay button.

  • SCROLL UP! YOU"RE MISSING THE VIDEO!

  • Comment removed

  • This song is about Jon's struggle with prescription drugs. and his addiction to biting his toenails... ok neither of those are true but it was fun'...

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not Christian. I actually am Athiest. But that does not mean I hate this band for their religious views. Just hear the words and understand how a persons religion does not make them bad people.

  • @fuhzer yes its important but not so important that we need to argue constantly about what relihgion is right when we can just enjoy listening to some good music

  • @fuhzer im not saying god doesnt exist i am a catholic and i go to church every week but its just that pple need to stop arguing about what religion is right and listen to music which has no boundries

  • Dear Switchfoot, please ask xbox to consider putting your song on RockBand and Guitar Hero, thankyou.

  • the lead singer looks like John Connor with long hair haha

  • the drug only stops working if i stop using it.... for as long as im high, i'm well :P

  • @bouboubouify

SF never wanted to be labelled 'Christian rock'. That's what people labelled them.

They often say that Christianity, for them, is a faith, not a genre. Just smoothing things out, I don't want a debate :)

  • But.. what i dont get is that a band that wants to be appreciated unbiased and solely for thier music then decides to be labelled "christian rockband". I mean 'christian rock' is not a genre, so dont classify yourself as such. Killer song though.

  • @bouboubouify Truthfully it would be more accurate to say they are a "grunge" band that is also christian. great song!

  • religion can suck my left nut

  • They need to have two likes because its impossible to not like Switchfoot!!

  • 143 tought the said dis i like not dislikes

  • music is the way of life not religion

  • This comment isn't religious! Quick! Thumbs up before it disappears!

  • @Aerrow12 lol.

  • I'm not religious, but don't care if the band is. Good music is good music, and this song rocks.

  • the crowd looks dead

  • Do you guys know all the hard work they put into this album and song.

I own their photobook and Jon wrote he doesn't want to push religion unto people. But he expects God to do it because God doesnt need to sell his religion.

So just listen to the music and let it dwell in your heart,

    trust me...You'll LOVE it! :D

  • And this isn't on Vevo! >:) lol.

    Pure Awesomeness!

    They even won a grammy!

    And VV2011 is next! XD

    (VV=Vice Verses!) :)))

  • Music is one of the only things we have left in the world that we can treat as a universal subject, why drag Religion into something so beautiful when Religion brandishes so much hate?

Listen, enjoy. If you do anything more, your ears are undeserving.

    PEACE, FUCKERS!

  • I'm getting really pissed at people. Yeah, this band is Christian. So what? It's like racism, only instead of your skin color, it's your religion. America is turning into a terrible place.

  • it's like they wrote this song just for me. i love the words. people always running to drugs to make things better instead of admitting to they need to change. They wanna escape reality but there will be no true peace until they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

  • @Phible2000 let's see u make a better song.
