Maybe this is a stupid question but by saying volunteer do you mean you get absolutly no money because my wife is from cambodia and maybe we might go there to live for a while and I would like to teach but I would want to get payed a little, to help get by.
Good video - and it captures the lumpy realities of teaching in Cambodia - the days when there are few students (they're needed on the family farm) and the amazing enthusiasm of the students. There are something like 600+ foreign assisted schools in Cambodia (I'm with Savong School in Siem Reap) and each relies on the goodwill, support and skills of volunteers. If you're watching the video and thinking about volunteering - do it!
Argun=Thank you. mooie, pee, bay bohn, prahm=one two, three, four, five.LOL! If I watch this dude, I MIGHT wind up learning Cambodian! Good work ,teacher dude.
So many people around the world devoted so much time to help improve Cambodian living condition,we might not have much, but we sure have alot of friends, those who left Cambodia before 1975 actually came back to find nothing but chaos and mayhem,we do have loyal friends,i'm quite ashamed for not being able to devote more of my time in Cambodia, and i'm a Cambodian native son.
Just for everyonbe's information: this orphanage was just razed to the ground--I went over there the day before yesterday to see about teaching again, and I was shocked to see that nothing remained. Had all been flattened to make way for a new building develpment...I knew they were planning to move at some point (had no choice) but it happened a lot quicker than we all thought!
This english teacher must be a nut case,is he nut ? he could be here in the state going bar hopping,or football games,or baseball or basketball games,he's either a master or a fool, well at least in this life he did something good for a bunch of poor kids,he can die knowing he did something good for some poor kids,i don't think the kid will forget him either,i never forget any of my teachers.
Nice work, keep it up. I only stumbled on it becasue it was next to some videos from Cambodia that I have posted. The lure of Cambodia is unexplainable to many.
OH...AND... type in Potato Palsin the search box and you will get some great free videos that sing about activities in a kids' day. In the Morning, At School, etc.
Hi. Keep up the good work. Go to the search box and type in "HandsOnEnglish". I teach in Japan and have made videos of my classes, of course, but also my sketch books for some of the songs that are echo songs. Might make for an easier teaching day sometime. I admire what you are doing. They are bright lights in an all too sobering world. You, too! Kudos! You might also check out SuperSimpleSongs and DaddyRossPreschool for some inspiration.
