Everybody who is trashing this video needs to put it in perspective. First of all, one of the greatest things about the internet is choice. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Secondly, there are people (myself included) who enjoy this band, and this man's guitar playing. Guitar World isn't just you, and I am glad they made this video. I mean no disrespect, but we have seen guys like Vai and Satch for decades, it's okay to sometimes show a band who don't get much attention. DEP deserve it.

I'm hearing all sides but I still think this band is so dialed in. The divisions these days seem to be, they jumped the shark after Calculating, they're incorporate too much pop, or there's too much emphasis on technicality. Are there heavier? Yes. Are there better players, I'm sure. But I'm sorry, there's no one out there now who sounds like these guys. Botch & others had their day, but there's only one dep. I'm glad whenever they get press. It's great that this has mass appeal

Yes, Paul Gilbert is an amazing guitarist technically, but his music is fucking stupid and has the imagination of a twelve-year-old playing guitar hero.

Ben Weinman, on the other hand, pioneered one of the greatest genres of the decade, breaking pretty much every rule put in place by traditional music theory and opening up a whole new world of possibility for heavy music, and music in general.
