  • wow, i can hit 5.2GHz on my 2500k... tech world fly's!

  • @Orexll Absolutely! I can't wait to get an intel setup to mess around with.

  • Can it play Crysis?

  • lol i can get 4.2 on air

  • @kmmc1037

    Clean your cpu cooler?

  • Can I play minecraft with that set up?

  • how do i cool down a quad core phenomx4 BLACK ECS BOARD WITH 4 KAZE 120MM 5000RPM FANS IT STILL TREADS AT 98 DEGREES AT 100% LOAD IS THAT BAD OR GOOD HELP ME PLEASE I DONT WANT TO OVERCLOCK JUST TO COOL IT DOWN 1 HAVE 2 TBYTE HARD DRIVE WINDOWS7 ULTIMARE RUNNING 64 BIT 16 GIGS BALISTIC TRACER DDR3 LED MEMORY TRIPPLE CHANNEL

  • @kmmc1037 98 degrees celcius or F? 98F is phenominal, 98C it shouldn't even be running...

  • how do i cool down a quad core phenomx4 BLACK ECS BOARD WITH 4 KAZE 120MM 5000RPM FANS IT STILL TREADS AT 98 DEGREES AT 100% LOAD IS THAT BAD OR GOOD HELP ME PLEASE I DONT WANT TO OVERCLOCK JUST TO COOL IT DOWN

  • what i want to do is take a low freezing point fluid like acetone or even some alcohols and circulate it through a container with dry ice using a pump and insulated low temp hoses. that way you get the condensation away from the mobo and you get some convective cooling. i suppose the natural flow of heat in the system creates some amount of convective cooling but... just thinking.

  • @mrwonderfulcr1 I actally drew up plans for that in my chem class. Glad someone else was thinking that :D If I can get my hands on some dry ice I would love to attempt it.

  • play a game with it!

  • next time don't add water

  • @bocanutz

    It's not water.... thats acetone

  • @Slappa

    What does the acetone do?

  • @Superhello220

The acetone creates a cooling medium. It fills in the gaps and cools down really easily. This essentially keeps the pot cooler and covers a larger surface area.

  • @Slappa Does it make the whole room smell bad? Being around girls doing their nails with the stuff gives me a horrible headache.

  • @dimesach yes it definitely can make the room smell. Although if you are in a more open room with some good ventilation this is less likely to happen

  • @Slappa Haha the fun would make up for the smell. I have 2 more questions. I'm about to buy a Phenom 955, what is your opinion of it? And I have an older 2.4ghz celeron that ive overclocked to 3.1 on air, would really like to try this out, where did you get the heatsink flask?

  • @dimesach A 955 would be leaps and bounds better than a celeron not only in performance, but the fun of overclocking the snot out of it. Still great chips IMO. Although I don't know how recent batches are doing (the one in my video was the very first revision, the newer ones clock better), they should reach 4-4.2GHz on air

For dry ice, the cooling pot was sold to a friend and I by a guy in Poland. He goes by the internet name "Duniek" . Give him a search

  • @Slappa Thanks a lot! Sent him an email. I was about to make a flask myself, they are impossible to find. Can't wait to get my 955, plan on oc'ing but just enough for a performance increase nothing extreme. I've heard that cooling your processor like this will induce thermal stress killing them faster., thats why i'm using the celeron. It is on an older ASRock mobo with bad/swollen caps, would really like to see one pop or boil over : ) Are you still using this phenom or is it dead?

  • @dimesach Not a problem. If you are looking for a more elite pot: check out LN2cooling. Give that a search as well. Great but expensive.

Constant cold and hot cycles may slowly damage the chip, but I personally have never killed a chip from straight overclocking or cooling.

The ES from this video is dead, because I attempted to remove the IHS on it. ANd I believe the Phenom 955 I either sold or gave away :)

  • next time use liquid helium

  • Honestly don't get this whole craze of overclocking things. I have a phenom II x4 as well and it runs amazingly fast even at 2.8ghz. runs all my games at full, never slows down and never crashes

  • @TheXboxDoctor For benchmarks and people that really need the best performance out of what they pay for. IE someone that wants to run a few Garry's mod servers on their home computer, they need the highest clock rates possible to keep up with the demands of the game. Physics games take a ton of cpu power.

  • I saw you didn't almost touch the HT Freq. ¿What was the NB Frequency at 5GHZ??

Thanks (sorry for my bad english)

  • @CiOSmedia no, you can see that the bus speed is 200mhz and stock.

  • Only 5 ghz ? That's low actually.

  • @emshains

This was my first dry ice run ever. To see 5GHz on any chip for me is a feat. Besides, most rev C2 Phenom II X4's only hit max of 5.2GHz and thats on the good chips.

  • @Slappa anyone can go over that on dry ice.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant

Yep, like i said this was my first run ever.

Most 955 C2 chips will do 5.2 on DICE, C3's can go all the way up to 5.6 now, same with the thubans

  • @Slappa and like i said anyone can go over that even beginners.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant

eh i dunno. my chip was a pre-retail (which overclocked worse than the retails).

At the time i didn't wanna stress my hardware too much (costly to replace), and also the ALU pot and uncrushed dice didn't help either. but i've improved a lot since then. I nailed down 5.579 on my 1090T X6, and 5.5 all six cores

  • @emshains Dude this is on dry ice !!!! dont you get it ???

  • man I opened up cpuz for my newly bought phenom II 955 and it says core voltage 3.808..... o_O

the one on his screen said 1.560 lol, what's goin on?

  • @super6plx

There is no way that is right. If your proc was running at that voltage it would be dead in an instant. It must be an error in the read

  • i love it when 2 guys screw on nuts together

  • @juvaholics rofl

  • Now I know you put down some thermal compound to shield the components from any ambient temperatures that the dry ice might induce. Now my question is: Why doesn't the moisture in the air condense on any of the components around the CPU? The CPU thermocouple was reading around -68C, if I'm not mistaken, which means the components in the area, regardless of the thermal compound placed, would also see some kind of sub 0C temperature which would cause the moisture in the air to condense.

  • @Teteran

Yes, you are correct. Around the socket there was water condensing and instantly freezing from the -78C temperatures. This was my first dry ice run, and we did not insulate very well. There was water on almost everything around the socket. Very dangerous. However all of the hardware survived. In my recent videos you can see that we insulated better around the socket to prevent this from happening.

  • @Slappa Ahh, I see. You were very lucky! Nevertheless very cool experiment I would love to try it myself sometime.

  • For anyone wondering what the song is its Rush Hour by Armin Van Buuren

  • you have opteron 64 not phenom ii

  • @MrWerkdagen its an engineering sample so cpuz cant identify the cpu and cause bugs in the CPU name and the logo, and these samples are sometimes classified since they are not released to the market yet.

  • wow..! this is amazing man..! this is the future of the CPU coolers??

  • @albertsource not for the cpu coolers but it is a cheap alternative of the ln2

  • @albertsource I hope this isn't the future. There should be a better material than silicon such as germanium or some kind of mix to run cooler or perhaps an optical CPU instead of electrical.

  • @albertsource Haha, yeah awesome! Buy this CPU Cooler, now for €9,99 and €19,95 monthly to support your system with sufficient dry ice! Lol ;-)

  • wats the song? ubber pc man!

  • well you could get even colder and over clock it more then 5ghz but doing these steps 1: Use liquid nitrogen for a while then move on to step two for the finsh step.

2: Use liquid helium and keep it up as it keep on getting very much colder.

  • @smithwaysecurity

don't you need incredibly high pressure to get helium to a liquid stage though

  • AMD sempron 2ghz beats it xD

  • i have a single core 1.6GHz atom xP

  • looks like a duniek tube

    is it?

  • Very nice!

And whats this awsome song ?

  • how many volts did it need??

  • what is the liquid

  • Acetone

  • what s the diference betwen Dry Ice and ice

  • Dry Ice is solid carbon dioxide that has a temp of around -80C

  • THX

  • @Slappa -78c

  • and it's alot colder then ice

  • @enverelkeda it does not melt it evaporates

  • What's the song? Would be appreciated. :D

  • and it was not a Phenom II x4 955

  • It actually was the P2 955, and it's now been taken to 7, using liquid helium

  • The first pic looked like a Phenom TWK42

  • Plus CPUz reads Optitron @ 5

  • @ Wispa1a

I have explained this over and over.....the chip used here is niether an opteron, nor a TWKR42. This video was made long before the TWKR was out.

All early ES chips are read as opterons as they are not coded with any other name. That is because chips are originally binned for opteron stages before they get binned for desktop parts. Thus meaning, the best chips go to the opteron brand. This chip was just an early ES that never got a desktop name.

Nonetheless, it is still an early 955

  • Amd company got this Cpu to max 6.5Ghz temps -240c

  • They Have Hit 7GHz with a 955 X4 chip already

  • amazing

  • how much can you overclock it if you got the original fan.when you unbox it?

  • I'm not entirely sure as this chip did not come with an original fan.

I've seen people hitting around 3.5GHz-3.7GHz on the stock fan though

  • Without changing the voltage I could get about 3.3GHz.

  • @AxyoN100 I am using it now with stock fan at 3.6Ghz

  • look 2:59 this is amd opteron 1300

  • It's not an opteron. Phenom II AM3 Engineering Sample, CPU-z just reads it like that

  • i am thinking of getting the 955 is it any gd and what is the max safe overclock on it thanks

  • There is no max safe OC.

You can go as far as your chip will take you as long as you don't over volt it and as long as it is cooled well and does not exceed 62 Degrees Celsius in normal use.

  • very nice video amd is doing well

  • AMD & ATi ARE MONSTROSITIES FROM ANOTHER WORLD MORE ADVANCED, MORE........ MICRO DEVICES !!!

  • whats that black software in the background

  • AMD Overdrive

  • song name ? =)

nice done whit the overclock =)

  • its still running but i clocked it down dont wanna kill it - got 2 new ones on the way both phenom ll 550 and 950

  • I run my 955 3.83GHz 24/7 on standard air.

  • Kinda sucks that i cant overclock my 9750 AMD x4. Or atleast how ive tried. i tried amd overdrive and no luck. ive also tried the bios and still no luck. any ideas?

  • and that is on air not liquid gases or dice - my average temp is 36c @ 100% throttle - all you do with that fancy crap is show the absolute cold use but its not an everyday use item how about showing the people an overclock for everyday use - aint trying to bust your bubble but come on----REALITY STRIKES FIRST!!!! -SHOW US HIGHEST STABLE CLOCK ON HOUSE HOLD AIR AND BACK IT UP WITH PROOF

I WILL BUT I NEED TO GET A VIDEO CAM FIRSTAND ILL SHOW 24 HOURS OF STABLE RUNNING - ON HOUSEHOLD AIR!

  • I THINK THE ONLY WAY THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE CLAIM A RECORD OVERCLOCK- IS TO BE ABLE TO RUN YOUR SYSTEM STABLE FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS -- OTHERWISE IT DOESNT COUNT - COZ I THINK YOU GUYS THAT DO CLOCKING WITH ALL THE LIQUIDS AND STUFF DONT DO OVERCLOCKING ANY SORT OF REAL JUSTICE- take for instance my amd 5800+ normal is 3.01 ghz ive been running stable for 3 months at 3.584ghz

  • what happened after that 3 months with cpu?*

  • Comment removed

  • I stopped reading when I saw capitals.

  • isn't dry ice solid CO2?

  • Yep

  • :DDD next Time I'll better play inside the Freezer...LOL

  • wow amazing 5GHz!??!!!?

    awesome job man

  • wait, i dont understand..what were you guys trying to do? ):

  • yeah i´m thinking on that too :/ wath they doing ?

  • lol opteron?

  • i have done overclocking with dry ice and liquid co2 its fun to overcloack amd cpus they dont go in smoke like when i tried to overclock a pentium d after 3.5 it went in smokes.

  • Why does it say operton on CPU-Z?

  • Because ALL Phenom II, ES's and other chips are Opterons before they become anything else. Obviously this was just a test chip....so it never got a label for CPU-z

It is still a Phenom II ES

  • Hahaha amazing...

ill be getting a new mobo and liquid cooling system, and i hope to jump to 4 ghz (:

  • people are doing 4.2+Ghz with the 965 on air. if you run water on the 955 you should get well above 4Ghz

  • Eh, people can run 4.2GHz......but it won't be 100% stable. Not on air.

  • Ive seen a Phenom 955 on 4.2 stable :) ..

  • Nice *-*

    Marvellous :)

    Congratulations guys !

    Bye!~

  • Thank You!

  • Nice job guys. I got my Phenom II 955 up to 4 GHz without any cooling except my fans =).

The processor are very easy to overclock ;D

  • Nice job.

Yes they are easy to just OC.....but the problem is getting full stability on 4GHz.

If you choose to fine tune, I think these are more challenging to overclock than Intels.....which to me mean more fun.

  • hey nice vids and what video card is that

  • 4850

  • ye was a little proud. had it stable for several hours. no problems at all.

And yes, OC is the fun with processors =)

  • not if u dont know what ur doing.. like me xD so i dont do it

  • WOW now guys you will know "buy amds BLACK EDITION CPU'S" allone the multiplicator Hoaaa 5Ghz HEHE^^ very very good video 5*

  • the voltage is biiiggggg ...what was the temperature at 5 ghz ?

  • While it was on dry ice, didn't have a proper temp monitor at the time of this video, but it was most likely somewhere in the -50C to -70C range.

Voltage is nothing when these chips are under cold :)

  • i fried a i7 at 5.4 ghz at gooc with liquid nitrogen :d ...the voltage was too big

  • Yeah Intel uses a pretty voltage sensitive silicon process on it's chips.

AMD chips however are completely different. I have yet to see any chip killed by voltage under extreme temperatures.

Sucks about the i7 man :(

  • got replaaced for free :))) when building the next oc oriented pc i'm goin to consider that..thx

  • i got this problem "amd processor unknown model" i know its a bios problem so how do i fix it,,,and i have ram 8GB but it shows 3.25GB only is this also bios problem plzz help

  • If you don't have a 64bit operating system then your system can only access up to 3.25GB of ram....you shouldn't have bought 8Gigs with 32-bit based system

To fix the amd processor unknown model you need to update your bios

  • true!

  • are you using a 32 bit os?

  • Whats the liquid around the dry ice

    water? because wouldnt water freeze

or is it like 99$ isopropel alcohol

  • There is no water in this video

Dry Ice is made of frozen CO2 and sublimates, so it creates no liquid.

We used acetone in this video, pretty much what you are supposed to use for dry ice sessions.

  • i know thers no water

i though you added water to make heat tansfer better

but i thought the water would feeze

acotone doesnt freeze at that low temps?

  • Water would freeze up and be useless, it's not used for dry ice

Acetone doesn't freeze with dry ice

  • What is better? overclocken with the bios, or overclocken with amd overdrive?

I always tought bios is way better.

  • Bios for stable 24/7 OC's

    Overdrive and K10Stat for suicides

  • this must be a golden chip u got there .... what cpu is that .... is the ocz vendetta 2 good for phenom II x3 720?

  • It is an Engineering Sample CPU, Consumers can't get these.

    Don't know about that cooler.

  • Only problem with this video is the fact its not a Phenom II 955 its a Opteron Processor, look at CPU-z at the top of the windows....Nice overclock but if your going to post about overclocking a Phenom II 955 make sure its that and not something else..

  • I never said it was a 955.

Watch in the video where it says Phenom II X4 AM3 ES

    ES=Engineering Sample

This chip is not an opteron, since it is an ES, that is how cpu-z read the unknown cpu. So it is similar to a 955, but it is not. It's just an ES.

  • Remember there is two chips being overclocked in this video.

  • Very cool. Was your liquid isopropanol or something else?

  • Thanks.

    Acetone ;)

  • Is Addies in Calgary? Does he go to churchill as well?

  • Yep.

    Adam A.

  • Crazy shit there. Haha.

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome! Having flashbacks of the old THG videos!

  • Hahaha Thanks.

    Those were awesome!

  • Phenomenal dry ice experiment.

Nice play on words :) 5 stars

  • Thanks :P

  • 5 *s youtube won't let me put more but I know you deserve more! Sick Experiment... er in the good way XD

  • Thanks so much man!

  • WOW Bravoooooooooooooooo Boys

Realy Nice Movie and Great Job.Love to see more

AMD - ATI Radeon Best Choice

  • Thanks man, check out my second DICE run in the movie description!

  • OK Master :)

  • Nice isolating around your dunkie pot, was that acetone you poured in with the DICE?

  • Yes it was. Although we poured too much :P

  • 5 *´s

  • Thanks!

  • omg that's so cool xD you could've damaged your stuff though..i hope it's fine.

    i enjoyed it ;D rated 5* =) good stuff

  • It's all fine. No damage at all.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Where do you get the parts....

  • Which?

  • All of em' i guess.. :D speaking of which, where did you get the ES ?

    Good job btw.

  • Bought most of em. ES....is a special one. I'm not going to say. I hope it's understandable.

  • yeap don't worry, no problemo. thanks

  • Good Job guys :]

  • Thanks!

  • Nice video, doing same thing to a 940BE right now :)

What is the name of that song?

  • Very Nice

Miserere & Rush Hour - Original Mix by Armin Van Buuren

  • Impressive oc and I love OCN!

  • Thanks!

  • AMD Phenom Precessors ROCKS !!!

    but i hate ATi ^^

  • Yep. I love these Phenom II's

    But why hate ATi?

  • I even had times ATi cards but I only had problems with the cards now, I have only Nvidia

  • I guess it is all based on personal experiences. I have never had any problems with their cards. Work great, and fast.

  • i got the AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad Core and i love my ATI card!!

  • Nice!
