Glen's a terrific player and he was a great addition to Megadeth. His new Metalusion album with Jim Gilmour (Saga) and Chris Sutherland (Kim Mitchell) is AWESOME. Buy it if you dig crazy instrumental jamming on music that is like a metal-fusion-prog combination.
I hope one day him and his brother record another Eidolon album. I own all the CDs and think the band is TOTALLY underrated.

@ozzymustaine i have to agreee wiith sandy5 cause musically Glen is WAYY better than a lot of your guitarists out here now aday. and Shawn has been with Megadeth for a very very long time and has improved emensly as you can see on Endgame album. As far as Glen goes, his soloing is extremly smooth, probably some of the smoothest soloing i've seen and its not all legato. and as musicians Shawn and Glen are great musicians hands down

You obviously dont play guitar, Broderick is what you called a"guitar nerd" he plays the solos by a book and his solos are nothing else but shredding, Marty sometimes did improve his solos but it sounded awesome. @Mutahnt I honestly feel Glen was the best guitarist they've had since Marty. By best guitarist I don't mean technical skill (though he certainly has that, I must admit Chris and Al had him beat in those departments) I mean in terms of chemistry with the band, a fantastic sense of melody, atmosphere and stage presence, and just the ability to compliment Megadeth as effectively as he did. There's more to a great guitarist than just raw technical skill, and Glen definitely had those qualities.
Both Jackson and Charvel models are being produced at Corona. This had short term negative consequences, as much of the artists who were on the company's roster list in the 1980s and 1990s left to endorse other guitar companies.

@domothemetalgod try a dimarzio dactivator, they give you more tone and amazing harmonics glens replacement uses them I also use one in my 7-string at the bridge trust me it will give you the sound you are looking for.
@domothemetalgod yes, the dactivator's were designed to fix any problems you have to sound like him and the reason you aren't sounding like mustaine isn't just the pickup you also have to understand his full custom rig that also gives him his sound but the sound he gets also comes from his custom rig.
People misunderstand and underestimate Glen. He was not trying to show off with his technique or replicate past players. He was playing old solos differently not because he couldn't do in the original way, but he was feeling more comfortable my making them his own, by bending them.
I really liked his contribution, but he suffered from playing with Megadeth with the album that has the worst 6 songs to finish an album.
that's 'cause people have the idea that "MARTY OWNS MEGADETH" (lead guitar), people don't accept the idea of seeing another guitarist playing Marty's solos by their own way, and only expect to do the same (EXACT) sound as in the previous albums.
and, of course, If they watch Marty's last works in Megadeth changing and improvising his solos, they say that it's better than the recorded versions..

I actually think Broderick handles the solo better then Marty himself. Live I mean. Marty couldn't really play it as well live in my opinion.

The only reason because him didn't play this solo exactly on a live performance, it's beacuse HE IS NOT a IMITATOR!!! He had/put his own feeling in everything that he did on megadeth, even live performances... AND that's it!!! AMEN XDXD

Granted, he shows more expressions when playing, but he decided to leave and personally suggested Chris for the job. Chris is doing an excellent job as lead, so did Al Pitrelli and Chris Poland back in their days.. not to mention Marty... they all had their run and were all Gods at it. Except for Jeff, he can suck d|ck for all I care...

@lavarium well along with chris brod jeff is graduated in music . hes the most underrated guitarrist that was in megadeth.. the trth is that marty while he did all those great solos he never played them very well live ... just loolk at his work now he plays pop crap in japan and cant play like he did in RIP days... and take a look to jeffs work now he has lots of projects from hard rock to classical music so give some credit to jeff he did an amazing job in megadeth...

@Mutahnt I honestly feel Glen was the best guitarist they've had since Marty. By best guitarist I don't mean technical skill (though he certainly has that, I must admit Chris and Al had him beat in those departments) I mean in terms of chemistry with the band, a fantastic sense of melody, atmosphere and stage presence, and just the ability to compliment Megadeth as effectively as he did. There's more to a great guitarist than just raw technical skill, and Glen definitely had those qualities.

@domothemetalgod try a dimarzio dactivator, they give you more tone and amazing harmonics glens replacement uses them I also use one in my 7-string at the bridge trust me it will give you the sound you are looking for.

@domothemetalgod yes, the dactivator's were designed to fix any problems you have to sound like him and the reason you aren't sounding like mustaine isn't just the pickup you also have to understand his full custom rig that also gives him his sound but the sound he gets also comes from his custom rig.

People misunderstand and underestimate Glen. He was not trying to show off with his technique or replicate past players. He was playing old solos differently not because he couldn't do in the original way, but he was feeling more comfortable my making them his own, by bending them.
I really liked his contribution, but he suffered from playing with Megadeth with the album that has the worst 6 songs to finish an album.

that's 'cause people have the idea that "MARTY OWNS MEGADETH" (lead guitar), people don't accept the idea of seeing another guitarist playing Marty's solos by their own way, and only expect to do the same (EXACT) sound as in the previous albums.
and, of course, If they watch Marty's last works in Megadeth changing and improvising his solos, they say that it's better than the recorded versions..
