you say the OT makes no reference to hell but this is wrong at the end of the book of isiah it says that at the end of all things the unsaved will be preserved in fire (like the bush that moses saw)
Because God gave us our own personal free will. A loving Father would not force someone who wants to be apart from Him to be spend eternity in His presence. You call it "Mythology", I call it truth.Jesus Christ was without sin. God sent Him in that point in time revealed through the Jewish culture , so that it could be historically documented- his death, his ressurection- witnessed by hundreds- to show us the truth. The more you pull away from God the more you fall into deception.
@VASINGER It's not historically documented. The only thing we could call a historical reference is the New Testament, which is bundled with manifold absurdities and not a reliable historical source. The Bible reads a lot like the Epic of Gilgamesh if the Epic of Gilgamesh wasn't crammed with waves of genealogy and petty tribal politics. The Epic of Gilgamesh is of historical importance as a cultural reference, not as a reference for facts.
There are no Roman records of the execution of any ...
@prolefeedprocessor Yes it is. Its a history book of the Jewish people. Jesus Christ not just a preacher. He fulfilled Jewish prophecy. God revealed Himself in that point in time. This is where faith comes in. We dont have all the answers- but faith is what we have. Everything else is a lie. There's so many false religions, false teachings. It all ends up to a dead end path. The Jews were different. This is why God chose them. The more you fall into deception, the harder it will be.
@VASINGER He was a preacher as far as the Romans were concerned. The point is there is no record of him. And the legitimacy of any book is called into question when donkeys start talking casually to their owners, men stop the sun by holding a staff in the air (something that would have been recorded the world 'round), and other such nonsense. It can only be used as a cultural reference, not a historical one.
I'd also like to know how Christianity is any more credible than other belief systems.
@VASINGER preacher named Yeshua. All we have to go on were the leaders of the religion and their accounts of the story. Not reliable, as they had to gain what all cult leader have to gain. A loving Father would not make anyone choose between spending eternity living with him and spending eternity burning. That's not compassion, that's compulsion.
@prolefeedprocessor No they didnt. They risked death and persecution to write Gods word. The early Christians were martyred. And it may come a time again, when this will happen. Something moved them greatly to risk their lives so that others would be able to read about God in the flesh- the ministry of Jesus Christ, his death, and his ressurrection.
Remember too, that hell doesnt exist yet. It will exist after the final judgement. Those who die in Christ have their sins covered in his blood will go to heaven. Those without Christ will be judge solely under the law- their works- what they did good and bad. The degree to which they suffer in hell will be based on personal choices made on earth. Right now, people enter Hades(paradise). Those who claim to have gone to hell and back were probably seeing a future existence in hell.
But hell is very real. Jesus Christ warned about hell more than anything else- because we are not supposed to go there, but people make the choice to reject the truth.
@VASINGER "more than anything else"? I invite you to make a list of passages in which Jesus talks about Hell. I doubt it'd be very long.
If we're "not supposed to go there", why doesn't God just intervene and prevent people from going to Hell instead of passively hoping that people accept a rather incredible (in the literal sense, not very credible) story that must be accepted with no evidence. Why is God's will (for us not to go to Hell) subordinate to God's desire for blind obedience/faith?
@prolefeedprocessor We make our own choice whether we want to follow God or not. God is purity in its purest form. We are vile sinners. The only way not to be under the law is to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. His death on the cross had such great meaning in that way. The thing about hell is that it is death. We die in hell. But in heaven we live. Hell was not created for us. People separate themselves from God and go there
@VASINGER I know the story, how we're sinners and God is pure. I'm very, very familiar with the whole mythology of it. None of that answers my question. WHY is belief in Jesus' act of salvation the only way not to be under the law? WHY would a perfect and pure being not simply make that salvation apply to everyone?

Great you got it spot on. I see you are a fast learner, so soon you will realize that you dont need to prove yourself and you can carry on with your life. Im glad I could help.
@konigsean You're supremely assumptive. Everything you've thusfar said has been based on your beliefs about my intentions and your beliefs about reality, yet you've provided no backing whatsoever for either of these sets of beliefs. This video was about calling attention to an obscure but pivotal piece of information about a destructive Christian belief, not about "proving myself". I'll be pleasant if you start backing up your statements with information. Otherwise, go away.
There is no point in having a huge argument. If you dont want to believe, you are not going to. That is what the entire Bible is about 'BELIEVE'. I have done my searching and I had every reason not to believe in a 'saviour'. I dont disrespect you for what you are saying, cause I know that you have'nt given up on God, you are trying to convince yourself that you are right. You will see the truth someday.
@konigsean So...basically, you left a comment telling me that I'm wrong. I, who already provided my reasons for the claim I'm making (that eternal hell is unbiblical), invited you to actually explain yourself instead of just haphazardly asserting that I'm wrong without any explanation. You then basically tell me, "You won't believe me anyway. I know you would reject anything I say out of hand. I believe, so that gives me license to tell me you're wrong. No offense. You'll change your mind."...
@konigsean Wow. That explains everything! I'm glad you went to the trouble of creating an account just to leave that comment, because damn that was a worthwhile one. How about you actually explain WHY I'm wrong?
Actually, there is a very good reason why the concepts of Gehennah and eternal (figurative) hellfire are used in the NT. The Bible speaks of a mass resurrection that is to come after judgment day. This is a resurrection of bot the righteous and the unrighteous (Acts 24:15). The righteous come to a resurrection of life, and the unrighteous to a resurrection of judgment (like a period of probation during the millennium of peace described in Revelation)...
@technopagan724 ...those sent to sheol or hades (the vast majority of people) will be resurrected. A select few, though, along with those who die during judgment day are sent to Gehenna, which is the second death. These are people that were so vile (such as the pharisees) that God has already judged them unworthy and will not be resurrected. The hellfire in this context symbolizes eternal destruction, without the hope of resurrection...
@technopagan724 ...If you tear up a piece of paper for example, you can always tape it back together. If you burn it up in fire, however, you will never be able to reconstruct it. Incidentally, why Jesus was able to be resurrected after his death is because it was not simply his life he was giving up. What he was giving up was equal to what Adam had lost in the garden...a perfect human existence, thereby redeeming Adam's children. Jesus was still entitled, however, to his heavenly existence.
@prolefeedprocessor Thank you, but the interpretation did not originate with me. John 5:29 speaks of a resurrection of life for the righteous and a resurrection of judgment for the unrighteous. The righteous are already in good standing in God's eyes; however the unrighteous must have a probation period, which coincides with the millennial reign of peace described in Revelation. Those who conform to God's will during that time will be allowed to live forever.
@technopagan724 ...So in other words, everyone in the end will be punished who do not conform to God's will, but the reason why those who have died already and are not deserving still receive a resurrection is because they have already paid for their own sin with their own death. This does not apply to Adam and Eve, however, who were already in Paradise when the lost it. Also, during the millennial reign, Christ will be much closer to humanity, so it will be clear what God's will is.
None of this is helped by the fact that Jesus spoke in parables half the time, so it's nearly impossible to determine what is literal or figurative, or just added in for cultural context (like the parable about Lazarus in Hades).
i just came here because I recognized a sister in the video. Go girl!! pump that Bible back at them
