this is a Canadian web and TV video that's intended to be relevant in the Canadian marketplace-- where the Tiburon is not available as a new vehicle and this Veloster is currently not on sale.
In the context of a 3 minute video that has to be condensed 1) for time and 2) for the average viewer's (not the genesis enthusiasts) understanding, the genesis is the 'new hyundai sports car that replaced the tiburon' remember-- this video is for everyone-- not just genesis coupe fans
this guy does not know much about hyundai, the genesis coupe is not the tibs replacement according to hyundai, the gencoupe is a whole new animal, the real replacement for the tiburon according to hyundai will be the veloster, and should be released very soon as a 2011 model. may be out by march 2011.
@matrixloader well the veloster is the replacement for the front wheel drive tib but the genesis is the rwd replacement of the tib.. im not kidding LOL

@Roadkilla1000 yeah ride comfort they may be better but performance wise there is no comparison, the Genesis is a sports car not a "sorta sporty" car like the american cars.
@BullyScholarshipWii only if they have the v8, which puts them about 10 grand more than the Genesis. Go on Motor Trend and check out the review of the 4 cars its called "Hustle cars" or something like that. The Genesis won a comparison with the 4 cars, although the challenger was a 2010 and did not have the 300 hp v6, but that wouldnt really save it considering the 2011 is still sorta heavy compared to the Genesis. Better yet go test drive a Genesis coupe yourself.
@BIGAIRLIKE23 370z isnt a coupe its a 2 seater. the gen has 4 seats and its heavier then the 370z. The 370z is impressive but theres pros and cons on both cars. I respect 350z and 70 but i want to try something new :D
@mtktm veloster will be the replacement? Where is it?? At the time of filming, the only hyundai sports car available in the country I live in was the Genesis. Drive wheels aside, the current hyundai sports car is the genesis. High flow and short ram parts relative to the competition in terms of sound effects. Have you driven a Mustang, 370z, G37, etc? They're much much quieter.
First, google tiburon replacement. The tiburon is still being sold as new vehicles.
Second, There is a freakin airbox which snakes to the front grille. How is that a short ram intake? Thats about 4 feet of travel the air has to go through to get to the throttle body.
Third, the muffler has the same resonator design as the SRT-4. and they use the same muffler on both 2.0t and 3.8. I assure you the car is A LOT more quieter than the cars you mentions. I have the freakin car.
@mtktm when i mentioned short ram air intake (which is a vague term in itself) i was referring to 1) the powerful, reedy intake sound and 2) the fact that the air filter element is only a few inches from the maifold.. which is 'plenty' shorter than most new vehicles. Without a tape measure to measure all the plumbing, i though the look and sound qualified it that way

Have you driven the Genesis Coupe back to back with 6 or 7 of its key competitors on a handling course over the course of 3 days of testing? I have-- and i totally disagree that its a 'LOT' quieter than the cars I've mentioned. I understand you own the car, but my job is comparing and evaluating new cars. And the Genesis Coupe is one of the loudest cars at full throttle i've heard in a while, unless my ears are cutting out on me
@SR7800t My neighbors have both. Its quieter. Engine noise is louder, because of the thermo-pastic valve covers, instead of aluminum, lack of engine bay plastic covers and noisy ticking injectors.I even test drove the 370z when before I got the gen. over 2k RPM the 370 is louder.
"At time of filming" The tiburon was "discontinued" And dealers are still selling them as new. Hyundai them selves stated that the veloster was going to be the replacement, when they showed the concept 3 YEARS AGO.
meh I have more fun with my 370.

Umm. I guess the people at auto123 don't do much research and just pulls things out of their rears.
THe tiburon replacement "will be" the veloster. Not the genesis coupe. Why do you think that they tried to make a pseudo name brand.
Short ram intake? look at where the air has to travel. I have the car
High flow exhaust? And yet, aftermarket exhaust manufacturers are able to gain 15~20 more HP.
Ironically, the 2.0T version weighs as much and has about the same HP as the non turbo Z32 300zx :p
