  • Also known as a traverser.

  • Box is now built... cut my rods to length, mounted buttons to the project box. Found a cordless drive to use the motor and drive combo (Old batteries shot!)

Tomorrow need ot glue the rails and finish sand the 1/2 round brass cuts. then Mount the motor and create the slide blocks.

Can you show me some video of the control connection internal wiring?

when connecting the radio shack buttons do I solder to both terminals on each button? Why are there 2 tabs per button?

  • Great plans but can you show more detail on what the control box and wiring look like? have you thought about modifying the design to use the motor from the gantry crane article instead ? (Nov 2009 CTT)

Just purchased all the radio shack components for the gantry article and the transfer table today... off to the lumberyard and hobby shop this weekend!

    Thanks

    Dan

  • You are very good at lining up the tracks. In the video, I don't see any bumping so you must really have the hang of it lining up the tracks and letting go of the motor button at just the right time. I may have to follow your plans in the CTT article.

  • Duh I just read all the comments and the video description. Great project anyway for sure! Thanks!

  • I KNEW this layout looked familiar...yours was the transfer table article in...was it CTT? I think space-wise transfer tables have it all over roundhouses...

  • cool transfer table

  • Way cool! Is that a Wiliams?

  • no its lionel.

  • Detailed instructions on how to build this transfer table are in the October 2009 "CLASSIC TOY TRAINS" magazine.

  • so you saw the article in CTT to extend Lionel's transfer table? cool. I wish I had space for a permanent layout. I only have my tinplate display and my Tree layouts at Christmas. very interesting sets you have. I don't think I've ever seen Alcos like that, aside from the rare US Marine locomotives from the rare #1591 outfit. I'd like to know more about yours. be sure to check out my little layout vid when I post it!

  • Saw your CTT Post on your backdrop. Neat!!

  • The transfer table looks fantastic and is so neat to watch. Were these used on real railways?

Seeing all the accessories working correctly and precisely is a joy. The film resolution is very nice.

    Steve In Canada..

  • Hi Steve,

Yes, this is the same layout. I added a 2 1/2' x 5' section for the transfer table. It works great and I can keep all 9 of my engines on the layout.
