The first time someone executed a kick like that against me I fell for it - thought it was a mae geri to the face and my reflexes made me try to block it from the outside.
Wasn't fast enough to notice the hip rotation and took the mawashi to the side of my head:)
The second time I fell for it too, and the third...
Never learned to suppress my reflexes and block it correctly.
