How can it please God to only make me, personly, only let me see all the bad things in this world. Keep meeting suicides - incest victims and so on every month... This movie has turned it 180 degrees. But the point of Jacob is that the believing of God doesn't get you near to God - it is the honest action you do for your people for nothing in return at all.
In the Bible, Jacob was a bastard. Not a trickster. He cheated his brother out of all the good that came his way, was rewarded handsomely in his lifetime, and never repented for anything. His life is definitely not a model for anybody, and his story is not one that should be taught to children.

This movie also shows that Jacob kissed his father Isaac on the lips. I highly doubt that really happened. He probably kissed him on the cheek according to an ancient custom.
