@Z4turn When you have a Scottish Fold litter, some of the kittens have the folded ears while others do not. This is because the folded ears are a genetic defect, and happens whether you breed Fold/non-Fold or Fold/Fold. However, breeding two Folds to try and get more folded kittens is highly unrecommended as it increases the chances of the cats' developing a serious and painful bone defect. Wikipedia has a little info on the breed.

The secret of playing with a cat is to choose and use toys that imitate their natural prey. So the toy must be very light (ie mouse-weight) and be moved at prey-speed, and away from kitteh. Bits hanging down are like a tail or tail-feathers, so they like to grab for this. Mugumogu understands this - but I bet Maru would love to come across a trespassing house-mouse one day.

Interesting, I am super skinny as well, not quite healthy neither. One of my friend is almost twice heavier than me, and he seems much happier. I never play spots, but he plays it all the time. To me, it's actually his positive attitude made him able to transfer all the food he ate into energy and weight.

So prehaps, it is not the body shape that determines happiness, but what the animal/human actually does in life.

I am happy to see Maru being active as usual, but I am just sick of certain people worring, criticizing him being "fat". I don't blame people for not seeing his skinny pictures after bath on blogs, but seriousl, a 3 year old cat, still playing all the time, running at backyards, how does this show that he is fat, unhealthy and "unhappy"? Even if Maru is REALLY fat, he is happier than tons of skinny models in human world that are slaves of the word DIET.

BTW, Declawing is pretty uncommon in Japan. I've spent most of my life with cats but I had never heard of the word until I saw it in comments on Maru's videos on youtube :)
