  • Sears sponsored various "Winnie the Pooh" holiday specials on NBC (as Coca-Cola, and later, Dolly Madison cakes, sponsored "Peanuts" specials on CBS) during the latter portion of the '70s. The announcer is Dick Wesson, the same one heard on Disney's weekly TV show at the time [he committed suicide a year later].

  • Ohmigosh 1978! I was just a kid and it was Sears, Roebuck and Co. Takes me back when Thanksgiving and Christmas were still quite magical. Excuse me I must have something in my eye.

  • That special was aired two months after I was born. I was two months old at the time that I have never saw this before.

  • Guess what, ABC Family will be showing this wonderful film on 12/14/09 at 7PM followed by "Winnie the Pooh & Tigger Too" as a part of their annual "25 Days of Christmas" block.

  • Ever since I was a kid, I always like this Winnie The Pooh cartoon the most. Because of the strong winds, Tigger, the dream, and the flood all amazing for Disney to win an academy award. Don't you agree?

  • Absolutely.

  • WOW! That is very rare! I wonder if anyone on here has TV openening of the other shorts.

  • I know! This is SICK!! Just a few minutes ago, I put this into my iTunes library! Since you already uploaded Tigger Too with the announcer, let's wait for Honey Tree and a Day for Eeyore (if there were any)!

  • When the VHS of "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too" came along, I bet any references to Sears from TV airings of the film were cut out. I think that explains the jump cut in music after the announcer says the title. What do you think?

  • I would agree with that. The only thing I don't get about the VHS is why the opening was shortened there, but not on the other featurettes.

  • I think it's because the VHS tapes of the other featurettes were the original theatrical versions of the featurettes.

  • They were NOT the original theatrical versions. The Buena Vista logo was cut from all four shorts and the picture quality was different.

  • You're right, and bslatky is wrong. (sorry to him) Back in the mid-80's, the original theatrical versions of the other featurettes were used. Why? Because, except for the Buena Vista logo, all the credits roll normally.

  • Sears once sold Winnie the Pooh items!

  • No kidding. Did they?

  • Yes.

  • What a rare treat to see. Too bad they don't show the old Winnie the Pooh on TV anymore.

  • Too bad they don't show ANYTHING on TV anymore (anything good at least.)

  • I defiantly have to agree with you on that. But there are still some good shows on. (Family Guy, etc.)
