This is what the TNG movies needed. They needed a movie where the crew has an adventure in order to solve a problem. No villain, no spacebattles, just a good story, good dialogue and occasionally some humour.
I still can't believe that talk about boobs happened in Insurrection
@SchweitzerMan The problem was that the TNG movies didn't have anyone that cared enough about the TV show and it's characters helming their movies. Rick Berman just didn't give a fuck about anything except making some money. TOS movies on the other hand had Harve Bennet and Nick Meyers, guys who didn't know much about TOS but they did their research and looked for what worked in the show and tried to bring it to life on the big screen. The TNG movies had Picard get into silly fist fights.
@gothatway09 While I enjoyed the TNG movies... you are correct on nearly every level. The creators seemed to only care about money. The TNG series is my least favorite (next to Voyager) and has the worst first two seasons of any Trek. Then again, I don't know how valid my opinion is being DS9 and Enterprise are my favorites. *shrug*
spock did eventually get the knack for it, startrek VI," Damn you sir you will try"

@SchweitzerMan that is what the original series was all about and it was more forced in TNG... Ryker can get pretty annoying.

The script for this movie deserved an Oscar, brilliantly funny. I think I'll pop it in the DVD player right now.
