For those who don't think they need a marketer yet, well, this IS marketing. Obviously no one would have heard of this game if not for their attitude and these videos.

That said, as someone who has been a game programmer since the 80s, it will be interesting to see what you guys come up with. If your programmer has just over a year's worth of experience, there will be some nuances of game programming that he won't be aware of. It's not that hard to make a game for someone who is determined.....

1. Most of the best indie games were made with one programmer. Indie teams with many programmers usually don't finish, and if they do finish, it's usually only because of one their programmers.

2. Programmers don't just test their own games. That's stupid. Other people find and see stuff that the programmer doesn't.

3. Waiting until the game is finished to start marketing is a horrible idea. That's a reason why teams fail.

4. C++? Who cares?

These days there's no reason why you can't solo code a project these days - it all depends on the engine your using and the strength of the community behind it. If anything, I'd say that a second coder would be most useful using a higher level language to make editors, or work on scripting. Often more than 1 coder working on an engine will just slow development down.

Yeah, more developers means more difficulty in managing the project. Plus, the programmers would have to communicate and be on the same page, where as with 1 programmer he doesn't really have to worry about anybody else reading his code (hopefully, although I know that's not good practice).

And the other thing is that when making shareware, it's best to have as few people involved as possible. People quit more often than not, and there's always the chance of profit disputes, even with contracts already in place.
