I do enjoy iced coffee and this a nice and easy way of preparing it :) Quick question, where did you get the plastic cup with straw from? I want one of those, I'm from the UK btw.
^__^, ..you have such a cute sounding voice in the morning. I mean i enjoy the sound of your voice all the time, but it sounded really sleepy like and a little raspy..TOO CUTE!
Wow! Thanks for this video Leesha! I will definitely have to try this! I've been looking endlessely for the Torani coconut syrup in stores but haven't been able to find it :( I've been to all of my local grocery stores plus target, walmart, etc. and all of the local liquor stores.....I'll have to try world market this weekend!
Like she said, putting normal brewed coffee over ice doesn't taste as good, and the cold brew sits longer so it's much stronger. I actually discovered yesterday some Starbucks Via Iced Coffee Mix. It's not good on it's own but with some liquid Sweet'n'Low and milk, it's not bad. I don't even like Starbucks so it takes a lot for me to recommend a product of theirs :P
@CatalinaXHeartcore I have a Keurig and bought the cups specifically for iced coffee and the coffee still melts the ice. I think the difference is that it's stronger so when the water dilutes it, it even out the strong taste. Regardless, my fav k-cup is hazelnut which doesn't come in the iced version. I just make mine the night before and put it in the fridge. Then in the morning, I am the ice and milk and it's good to go. Also, if you use those metal water bottles, it keeps it really cold.
kk leesha i found a way thats a lot quicker and a easier just take 3 coffee filters and put ur coffee in them seperately then tie them up and put them in water and leave them outa the fridge and let them sit for only a few hrs its a lot quicker and easier
i'm so so glad you did this video! who doesn't love iced coffee in the summer, and now thanks to you i don't have to be held prisoner of my coffee machine every morning paired with the diluteness of the ice! :) thanks!
You know if you want to save money on coffee, especially if it's expensive stuff, you can brew coffee grinds up to 3 times before they get the flavor washed out of them. If it's folgers or something cheap like that you'd get at the grocery it's probably not worth the trouble, but if you really love coffee you probably get some sort of fancy beans you grind up. I like saving money, and I'm sure you do to, so there's an easy way to do it! Reuse your grounds a bit :)
I tried the cold brew coffee and I love it, thanks for introducing me to this. Since I'm the only one that drinks coffee at my apartment (my boyfriend hates it) and its hot outside this is amazing and it goes a long way.
Splenda is so so so bad for you! I'm not trying to be one of those annoying people who tries to tell you how to live your life, lol, but I used to like Splenda on things too. Then I read different studies and a friend who works in a health food store told me how absolutely horrible it is. It's link to cancer, memory loss and other diseases. I would switch to Stevia(very similiar) or Sugar in the Raw. :) Just a suggestion, obviously you don't have to..but I'm just sharing. :)
Made some last night, strained it this morning. Now I've been drinking iced coffees all day :D! Only problem is the sugar I put in doesn't dissolve properly, and I don't have any flavourings. Wish I did, it would taste that much better!
It seems like it would be a lot less time-consuming to just make extra strong coffee and stick it in the fridge, especially if you're leaving it overnight anyway. Then you don't have to wait so long while it strains and all that. Just my thoughts unless there's a reason that the coffee turns out a lot better being cold brewed than hot brewed.
@hitzchicky It sounds weird, but the cold brew coffee actually tastes a little different than regular coffee. Also if your one of those ppl that get an upset stomach from drinking coffee, cold brew is good because it doesn't pull out as many of the oils in the coffee beans- which is what upsets your belly.
I saw this on foodgawker a couple months ago, and I finally tried it a few weeks ago. I actually have more brewing tonight, which is kind of funny cuz I just NOW saw your video lol!! Anyway. I do about 1/2 coffee, and I split the other half into milk & creamer.
I like to make coffee ice cubes with cold-brewed coffee. Just freeze in a tray and use in your drink, and it will still have a nice strong coffee flavor as it melts.
So what's the difference between cold brewing and regular brewing?? Because I work at a coffee shop we brew the coffee and then we put it in the fridge so it gets cold you know like ice tea.. and to me it seems like brewing with hot water make the coffee or tea better.. I'm just curious because I'm a coffee addict lol :)
@nurita4 Hot brewing can give the coffee a bitter flavor, which does not happen with cold brew. Because of this undertone flavors like caramel chocolate and cream can peek through without needing to add very much. Also, hot brewing at home you cannot stick it in the fridge until it has cooled significantly or you risk warming the other things in your fridge which can contaminate the food and encourage bacterial growth, which can make you very sick.
@nurita4 Cold brewing is much richer and creamier tasting than hot brewing and putting it on ice. It also has less caffeine, and is good for people who have trouble drinking coffee because of ulcers or stomach problems. I spent 5 years working in a coffee shop where we hot brewed and then iced it, and I honestly LOVE cold brewed so much more. There are machines called Toddies that are especially for cold brewing coffee....Seattle's Best uses them, I believe :)
@nurita4 I get cold brewed coffee from Seattle's Best Coffee every day. It was recommended to me because I was having issues with my stomach. Brewing it cold it makes it less acidic. It is a lot stronger and is easier on the stomach. :)
@nurita4 I do cold brew coffee every once in a while, and I have always been under the assumption that it lets you slowly extract all the flavors and oils from the beans without ever getting the burnt/acrid flavor. Also, the coffee filter often traps the delicious oils when you're using a coffee machine. The result is a strong but really flavorful coffee, but I guess you have to wait a long time for it to brew :(
@nurita4 hot brewing coffee pulls out a lot more from the bean, but part of that is a lot of acid as well as some other things that may or may not be good for you. When you cold brew you get less acidity and less of those other things. The consequence is that it tastes less bitter and, arguably, better in general (but of course it's preference). I actually brew mine in a french press in the fridge. The press acts like the first stage of filtering in this vid. You should try it at home.
@nurita4 oh also, I forgot to mention that I make hot coffee out of the cold brew concentrate. I boil some water extremely hot and then I put about 2:1 of the hot water to the cold brew, maybe even more hot water, you can experiment.
@ava2hot19 This is her second channel (personal channel) where she posts random videos, her actual channel has many followers and she is a popular make up guru who enjoys rainbow hair-dos. that is her job
@ava2hot19 I don't really know why you guys are so up in her personal business anyways. I should not be feeding the trolls, if you happen to be into that sort of thing - but yes youtube obviously pays people. This is not her main channel, this is for fun and for personal things. Obviously she works hard on her main channel and a lot of people like her and love her advice and tutorials. It is a dream job and she deserves whatever she gets, which is not my business!
@ava2hot19 Yup, you hit the nail on the head. That comment of mine was so hysterical...I really should calm down. *eye roll*.
I know what I have learned from watching her videos, I enjoy them. I am not the one wondering what her job is...ya know, since she says her job is "on youtube" like every other video.
I just use espresso from my breville caffé roma with like 5 ice cubes and milk. it doesn't get freezing cold but it's cold enough. i'll try your method soon! but i'm just wondering, since you're still using ice, it still waters down the flavour right? xx
cold brew coffee is so good! i totally forgot about it until i watched this. pretty sure i'm going to go set some up for tomorrow as soon as i'm done commenting. also, your voice sounds like jasmine's in the morning... that's weirdly awesome haha
i do the same thing! but instead of pouring the grounds directly into the water, i put them in a coffee filter with a twist tie and soak that in the water overnight. it works just the same
I love your morning voice. It's really chill sounding. Mine sounds like a pack a day smoker in a nursing home first thing in the morning, so I envy my friends who wake sounding perky.
Leesha :( splenda ?! Noooooo. Maltodextrin is sooooo bad for you, cancer causing! And check your sugar free stuff for aspartame or other artificial sugars that cause cancer ;( at least research it and make up your own mind :(
I love iced coffee drinks. I take leftover morning coffee and freeze it in ice cube trays. Then when the ice melts it doesn't water down my drink. I never thought to cold brew coffee. Great tip.
Hi Leesha! Could you please put the website where you got the Torani? I'm in the Netherlands and I can't find it ANYWHERE and don't just want to buy edibles/drinkables from any site. I'd be forever grateful.
lol You definitely sound like you can only start your day with coffee. Not that that's a bad thing. I don't drink coffee that much because it makes my tummy unhappy :(
I have the same cup only with a pink straw. I make iced coffee all the time. The waiting drives me crazy though, haha. Does your splenda dissolve completely in the cup with the ice, or is it a lil gritty still? I find if I put sugar into the cold drink it doesn't dissolve properly, which is where liquid sugar would come in handy but I haven't looked for that yet. Just wondering if splenda has that issue, if not I might switch.
@ValeneShay I don't know about splenda, but sweet n' low dissolves completely in cold drinks because it's a powder. I don't know if you like sweet n' low, but I thought I'd make the suggestion anyway. Also, it doesn't have aspartame!
What I think would be easier is make a pot of regular hot coffee the night before. it should be done in 15 minutes tops. Then put it in the pitcher and put it in the fridge overnight.
I'm a coffee addict, so much I couldn't leave it while I was pregnant, but I have never been a fan of ice cold coffee. After this I think I may try it.
To make iced coffee I just make a full pot of coffee, but use double the regular amount of coffee grounds. When the pot of hot coffee is done add in my splenda to the whole pot, because it dissolves better when the coffee is still hot. Then I put the pot into a pitcher and put it in the fridge over night. The next day just pour it in a cup of ice and add your milk and syrup! Much less time consuming than having to wait for it to strain the second day. Hope this helps someone out!
Hey! I wanted to share a tip! If you add your sugar/splenda to your coffee before adding the ice, or any other beverage really, it actually takes in/seeps up the sugar better, so you might eventually end up using less. :)
@6526587 i use it for hot coffee and its great, but unless i put the coffee in the freezer for like a half hour or so it doesnt make great iced coffee :(
Great idea. I use to work for Jack in the box, and what they use to make us do is brew coffee like normal. Place it in the fridge to cool. When done cooling off. Add ice and make it how you like. Ta-da Ice coffee! :)
I have two of those exact same cups from Walmart, haha. They work great! I love iced coffee, especially now that it's 100 out...so I will have to try this.
This is very helpful, thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to make frappuccinos at home and I think this cold brew will be a big help! Do you use a bold roast or just a medium?
I love coffee, but I'm pregnant so I have to stay away from caffeine , so once in a while I'll have some decaf. I can't wait to drink real coffee again. This sounds so good.
You know I don't even like coffee and this made me want some. lol. It may have something to do with being pregnant too but hey I like to chalk it up to your skills.
@sum1whosbored yup, its from coffee bean, but you can get reusable tumblers from pretty much anywhere. i like them because they are double-walled so they dont sweat all over :)
I use my magic bullet and hazelnut instant coffee. You grab your magic bullet cup and place 3-4 ice cubes in it, fill cup with water, leaving room for milk, add instant coffee, splenda and milk, slap on the blade attachment and give it a whiz. voila! whole thing takes under 3 minutes. If you want a more slushie type texture you just add more ice. It's fantastic, it tastes just like a Tim Horton's Ice Capp with hella less fat and sugar!
I must try this. So weird that my husband was asking me how to do this yesterday, and I didn't know how! Thank you, this will be great with the heat we have had!
In this video you say 2-1 cup coffie grounds is it 1 cup or 2 cups..????
please answer im gonna try this looks awsome Thanx

Bree3382 7 months ago
Leesha :( splenda ?! Noooooo. Maltodextrin is sooooo bad for you, cancer causing! And check your sugar free stuff for aspartame or other artificial sugars that cause cancer ;( at least research it and make up your own mind :(

I love iced coffee drinks. I take leftover morning coffee and freeze it in ice cube trays. Then when the ice melts it doesn't water down my drink. I never thought to cold brew coffee. Great tip.

I was bummed at the end of the video when I didn't get to drink it

Hi Leesha! Could you please put the website where you got the Torani? I'm in the Netherlands and I can't find it ANYWHERE and don't just want to buy edibles/drinkables from any site. I'd be forever grateful.
Theleah5 7 months ago
lol You definitely sound like you can only start your day with coffee. Not that that's a bad thing. I don't drink coffee that much because it makes my tummy unhappy :(
emakip 7 months ago
is cold coffee different if you brew it in a coffee maker then refrigerate it till its cold and then make the cold coffee?
Melohhdee 7 months ago
I have the same cup only with a pink straw. I make iced coffee all the time. The waiting drives me crazy though, haha. Does your splenda dissolve completely in the cup with the ice, or is it a lil gritty still? I find if I put sugar into the cold drink it doesn't dissolve properly, which is where liquid sugar would come in handy but I haven't looked for that yet. Just wondering if splenda has that issue, if not I might switch.
ValeneShay 7 months ago
@ValeneShay I don't know about splenda, but sweet n' low dissolves completely in cold drinks because it's a powder. I don't know if you like sweet n' low, but I thought I'd make the suggestion anyway. Also, it doesn't have aspartame!

What I think would be easier is make a pot of regular hot coffee the night before. it should be done in 15 minutes tops. Then put it in the pitcher and put it in the fridge overnight.
KaraLeigha 7 months ago
I'm a coffee addict, so much I couldn't leave it while I was pregnant, but I have never been a fan of ice cold coffee. After this I think I may try it.
vinnymax01 7 months ago
You should make coffee iced cubes, and then out them in your drink so the regular ice cubes don't dilute the coffee :)

titadanceismypassio 7 months ago
ah i love this. thankyou :}

Great idea. I use to work for Jack in the box, and what they use to make us do is brew coffee like normal. Place it in the fridge to cool. When done cooling off. Add ice and make it how you like. Ta-da Ice coffee! :)
BlueSilence1985 7 months ago
Once all the coffee is in the pitcher, should it be kept at room temp or refrigerated?

I have two of those exact same cups from Walmart, haha. They work great! I love iced coffee, especially now that it's 100 out...so I will have to try this.

apparantly coffee filters have LOADS of chemicals in them that are REALLY REALLY bad for you. =/ i love coffee filters.... :(
viczai 7 months ago
@viczai you can get ones without the processing, but for some reason they are more expensive. Permanant filters are a good option though

MsLisaBot 7 months ago
it scared me to death when you shook the pitcher with the coffee in it. hahaha im such a spaz! love this though and can't wait to try it :)
