A rubber plug.Heat up a sewing needle poke through some holes, feed the wire. the plug itself can hold the wires in place by itself+ it's Trimmable. or even a large glue stick can be carfully modded to work using same method.+be sure to check the prevolt output as all are not the same. some require resisted buttons for the add on setup.via an electrode resistor usually the(brown green brown)150ohm range works for some(Green Blue Brown)560 for others. If i modded mine it would need an 802or 820ohm.
Interesting and entertaining. Please make more videos. You think outside the box and successfully achieve your mission. I like your methodical approach. The lessons here are you can jury rig an external switch with a bit of insulated wire. Some times it is just for fun that we do these projects.
really good idea! I have a 50d and i'm thinking about doing this but i'm afraid i'll burn something. is it possible to break the camera by trying this?
this is great, i just bought a nikon and did not want to spend on the remote... i am thinking of making one too, this video gives a good idea of what is involved.

What about focus (half press equivalent)? I gues you have to include 3 pins, not only 2...
