  • @ragray24 - The full DVD offers a 7-day plan that you can follow and build upon from home. M Thomas

  • It doesn't seem that too many tai chi instructors besides you have the hindsight to make a video using a mirror. Thanks for posting!

  • @SylentIntensity1122 - The entire DVD 7-day lesson plan is filmed like this. It makes it easy to make sure you are moving the correct way. M Thomas

  • I'm taking Tai chi right now and I watched this for help remembering the moves but this is a much faster pace than Im used to. It's not always taught this way is it? Most other videos i watch are at a slower pace too. It was just really hard to follow.

  • @804252 - What works for some may not work for others? There are several types of Tai Chi throughout the world with a variety of different moves and different speeds. The actual speed is up to you! The video you are viewing is just one part of an 11-part lesson plan with Lessons 1-7 as slow as you can go. I would suggest that you view the other lesson plans related to this video. You will find that it is as slow as you can go. Tai Chi to you – M Thomas

  • @MThomasEsqI - I will definitely view the other videos first. Thank you for posting these. I just bought a tai chi dvd but the dvd wasn't exactly what I was looking for. This routine was very beautiful. I'm not there yet, but I hope I will be after I practice with the other videos first. I decided to pursue tai chi for exercise and to get healthy. How much time should a beginner spend doing tai chi a day to get healthy?

  • @MThomasEsqI does each movement count as a strike or is that for advanced movements

  • Hi i am 15 and have just started Tai Chi lessons. I was wondering if you could tell me what the difference is between Tai Chi and Tai Chi Chuan? Thank you! :)

  • @DaBomb7811 - Tai Chi Chuan is often referred to as simply Tai Chi, literal translation "Supreme Ultimate Fist". This Chinese martial art is practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. Tai Chi training involves five elements, nei gung, tui shou (response drills), sanshou (self defence techniques). This ancient Chinese art is a well respected form often used to help the body/mind work as one for the benefit of all since harmony is the path in life. Thank you - M Thomas

  • You are awesome and very helpful! Thank you for saving my tai chi grade!

  • Received Tai Chi 24 Beginers today 11/11/2010 quicker than I thought especially from America to England, United Kingdom. This will help me when I have to miss lessons due to work.

    Wayne R Cordingley. England. UK.

  • @super2boot - That's super good. Enjoy and Thank you for your comment - M Thomas

  • When a taichi performer starts facing the mirror, the "waving of the hands" is performed facing the mirror, too. {That is how the others who perform Tai Chi - Yang 24 demonstrates it. That missing step-backwards is a big difference.

  • @jligayaj - There are many forms of Tai Chi and this is just one of the many forms. The National Physical Culture and Sports Commission, of the People’s Republic of China, created and simplified this Tai Chi form in 1956. This became part of the drive to document and standardize Wushu training, thus introducing competition forms. The Beijing 24 form has many names, including the 24-step form, the Peking form, simplified Tai Chi and even just the 24 postures. Thank you - M Thomas

  • For "Repulse Monkey", you take 3 steps backwards --- one less than the (4 steps backwards) taken by some of the others who demonstrate Tai Chi (24 form).

  • This is amazing, how can I get your series of DVD's and please advise what the cost is.

    Best regards, Adrienne Young

  • What is this style

  • @AMNKEMP - The National Physical Culture and Sports Commission, of the People’s Republic of China, created and simplified this Tai Chi form in 1956. This became part of the drive to document and standardize Wushu training, thus introducing competition forms. The Beijing 24 form has many names, the 24-step form, the Peking form, simplified Tai Chi and even just the 24 postures. Please type, in YouTube’s search boxes “Tai Chi Chuan 24-Steps Beginners Written Intro Part 1” for further info.

  • @MThomasEsqI Is this a traditional form or one that has been tampered with or diluted by the PRC? No offense meant, I have just heard the opinions of many expatriates who have accused the chinese government of diluting and harming traditional chinese martial arts.

  • @veuvecliquot-I can only say that the National Physical Culture and Sports Commission, of the People’s Republic of China, created and simplified this Tai Chi form in 1956. This became part of the drive to document and standardize Wushu training, thus introducing competition forms. The Beijing 24 form has many names, including the 24-step form, the Peking form, simplified Tai Chi and even just the 24 postures. See Tai Chi History in the "Intro Part 1" portion of my series.
