  • FZ50 has a bigger sensor than the fz100

  • very good

  • can anybody help how do i use the mode to shoot photos quickly it takes ages due to it focusing each time how can i get it so its quick, its on auto focus at the moment.

  • Anyone who knows how to update software of DMC - FX50?I found some software but instructions for puting it to the photo doesn't work to me.

  • Hi, I have been using FZ50 for like 2 years, and now I'm thinking about switching to FZ100. One of the biggest cons is the image quality, which I didn't like on my FZ50 and I think I'll hate it on FZ100. On the other hand, I love HD and highspeed videos that FZ100 can offer. FZ50 also has the manual focus and zoom rings, which are really nice.

What do you suggest, should I go for it or wait for the next model or try something else with a similar price and features?

    Thank you

  • if anyone knows of any cheap fisheye lens to fit the FZ50 can you let me know, i live in australia.

  • is shutter sound about same as tz series? (very quiet?)

any mirror slap or other noises, sounds?

are there options to turn off all sounds, clicks in camera?

  • is there a way to take self portraits horizontally without having it upside down?

  • can you transfer pics to your camera without installing the software that it comes with?

  • I've got one of these. It's great outside, not so good indoors. I recommend.

  • WTF i bought this at 2000$ #LOL wtf are you saying 600$?!?!?!

  • @littlebuch you get that camera in germany for under 300 euro :)

  • @Larrypint and that camera when it was released cost 2000$

  • Any chance to review the upcoming FZ100? because im having a hard time choosing a DSLR, on my top list is Canon 550D+Tamron 18-270mm, will this FZ100 match this rival. Im not a Pro, just enjoy taking family pictures and some landscapes, no big printouts... A4 is just good enough for us. Many thanks!

  • Does anyone no where i can get on of these, or if they still sell them? i can't find it anywhere, :\

  • Thank you very much!

  • Well, there's a little problem with the extreme 12 zoom. At 35mm, it shows noticable barrel distortion It looks like a picture taken with an extreme wide angle lens, when you actually were not standing that close to the subject. But, I guess these are the compromises we have to make with those super-zoom lenses.

  • you look like your puppy just died. not your normal self :(

  • @bubbakang

    LOL :D

  • Fantastic review! I have the DMC-FZ30, and everything said in this review is true. This guy is the best camera reviewer I've ever seen. I think that Panasonic discontinued the FZ50, which is a shame. It was a very very good camera for the price. Oh oh... One little thing I have to disagree about the review. The dust or sand can actually get inside of this camera, as it isn't a pro grade weather sealed unit. If this happens, it's bad, 'cause you won't be able to take the dust out of it

  • f38 or this one??? im quite confused?!?! which is which??? hehe...

  • Where can you find placement parts for it? thanks

  • which is better fz28??? or fz50??? pls... let me know...

  • fz28 of course!!

  • FZ50, no question about it. The FZ28 has a cheesy button controlled electric zoom. The FZ50 has a nice smooth zoom you control with a confortable ring on the lens.

  • My FZ50 is now 2 years old and its fantastic in every way! As well as very high quality general photography I am increasingly using my camera for medical and research purposes. Pictures enlarged to fill large screens in lecture halls have amazing quality. Forget SLR's, get one of these!

  • the screen is small :O

  • i think ill go for fz28

  • nice ...but so much expensive

i think best price is fz28

  • hi, i saw your video and im really confuse..

i'm thinking to get the Panasonic FZ50

but there's one camera that attracts me too and i think its better for me, its the SAMSUNG pro815.

there's one thing that the samsung dont have. and thats the "IS", and the Samsung its kinda hard.

pls help me with my prob, which one to choose??

    thanks in advance!!!

  • I thank you - just learning how to use my FZ50 and I found your video very helpful indeed -

    Cheers from Canada

  • Hi, I've had the Panasonic FZ50 for over a year now and I love it. It's perfect for my type of pro-sumer photography. However, do you think this camera is suitable for large format prints, say poster size? (photoshop resizing aside)

  • great review on the camera! five points

i bought the fz50 about a year ago and i´m so damn happy with it!!! fantastic camera!!

  • This man does the most comprehensive

    reviews I've seen.

    Thanks

  • hello there!

i have been having a slight confusion on what camera I should buy.

I was first interested in the FZ18 until i realised that there was the FZ28 and I have now found out that there is the FZ50.

I know that the FZ50 is an older model, but I'm still trying to find out which one you would reccommend on like an all-around basis. thankyou! comments back would be much appreciated!

    :)

  • Hi, feel free to post in the Panasonic section of the cameralabs . com forums!

  • awesome thank you!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This may be a good camera, but every FZ50 user will buy a DSLR-sooner or later. It's a fact:)

  • what is the best superzoom camera with focusring and with a price under olympus e-510? don`t know what to by superzoom or e-510. I have a olympus sp-510uz, not a real good superzoom.

  • Hi, DSLRs and superzooms are quite different types of cameras - see the 'Should I buy a DSLR or a compact' article in the Features section at cameralabs . com.

  • The camera possesses a something to small image sensor rushes somewhat too much and is unfortunately missing with the objective of the width angles, which however not like that is disturbing. Everything else is with this camera really much property. e.g. picture processor, LCD search, picture stabilizer, zoom function, flash, image quality (color is very realistic, sharpness, greate Picturenoise reduction, contrast) etc.

  • hey gordon, i have had an FZ50 for over a year and have just bought a D80 first thing i notice is that the FZ50 takes a noticibly ''cleaner'' sharper photo? could it just be the lens? (18-135) or shouldent i be to worried about it?, any one looking to buy a FZ50 i highly recomend it!

  • i'm buyin one

  • I love mine!

  • nikon d40 or fz50??? (slr vs. super zoom...)

  • Depends what you're looking for in a camera. We have an article which will help you choose between a DSLR and a superzoom in the Features section at cameralabs . com.

  • Hi Gordon! Thanks so much for this comprehensive review. I have now made up my made and getting the FZ-50. I was debating before whether to get the FZ-18 or the FZ-50. Being a previous owner of an FZ-7, I was kinda leaning towards the FZ-18 because of the 18x zoom, face detection and still the compact body, but after much research, I will go with the FZ-50 to further elevate my photographic skills. I always wanted a rather larger SLR-like camera and the FZ-18 just doesnt have that. Thanks again!

  • The FZ50 is still a great model, but it is getting on a bit now in digital camera terms... Unless you NEED the superzoom range, I'd consider a budget DSLR... Feel free to discuss this further on the cameralabs forums...

  • fz18 or fz50??

  • Depends what you want! Check the verdict page on our FZ18 review at the Cameralabs website to compare them...

  • FZ-50 for sure.. or dslr like Pentax K100Ds or new K200D

  • lol this is kinda old. now i have a fz18 and nikon d80

  • Congratulations! You have a very good taste! I think about (buying) exactly those two cameras, too! :-)

But do you like the image quality of the FZ 18? I once heard, that cameras should not have more than 4-6 megapixels (unless DSLR´s).

  • for a superzoom the quality is superb

  • Please help!! I would like to take some good and artistic photos like landscapes and some portraits, I am looking for a school to learn about digital photography and dslr cameras but for now I am stuck on which camera to buy from these, CANON G9, CANON S5 IS, or the PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-FZ50 10.1 MEGAPIXEL. I would also like to use the manual features on them until I move up to a dslr. if u have any other recommendations I'm all ears thanks

  • Hi, the models we've tested and can recommend are in the Best Buys section at the Camneralabs website.

  • thank you for info!

  • thx for a very good review..

i really need your opinion,n would appreciate your help..

which camera is better LUMIx fz-50 or FZ-18 in term of picture quality??

    tq

  • Hi Kaiserinho, under the best conditions, the FZ50 will resolve slightly more detail, but there's not that much in it. To see how they perform in terms of noise, check the noise 2 or outdoor noise results pages from each review on the Cameralabs website.

  • superb camera

  • jus got this cam 2day.... i need a sports photgraphy book or good site for tips. anybody wanna help

  • Hi!

I've got the Lumix FZ7 and one think I got sad is the unpossibility of using zoom and focus while recording a video. Being manual, with the two rings, is it possible on the FZ50? And about de Auto Exposure? It can be disabled to have not that exposure variation when recording a video? Thx man

  • Yes, you can zoom the lens on the FZ50 while recording a video... I think the exposure and focus may only be auto in movie mode, but you would need to check...

  • I'm thinking of getting this camera, mostly for pictures of my child. While he is playing etc.. I like the big zoom but I doubt I will ever use its full effect. Would this camera be ok for me ? I like clear and crisp image quality.

  • Can the LCD flip to the normal place, still facing photographer?

  • You can twist it into most positions, but the only thing to watch out for is when it's facing the subject - as seen in the video, you'll need to flip it out below the camera, rather than to the side, like, say, the Canon A640. This hardly affects most photos though.

  • hi :),i must add a tip ive just read about(can´t remember where :s ) that grid setting over the Lcd ,those guide lines will help with ur frame composition and its based on the term ´´The Rule of Thirds´´ u can google/yahoo that and learn about it :) nice video review

  • Great review! submitted to our review website.

    digicams(dot)com

  • Hi everyone, thanks for your comments! Adamfoerster, I know what you mean, but that's just the lighting conditions used when filming the camera. The FZ50's screen brightness is just fine in normal use and you can adjust it if required. For more details on this and other models, see our full review at the Cameralabs website.

  • hey, man, i just bought this camera, but i dont know if i pick the right one. is the cybershot H9 better than this one? thanks

  • They're both great cameras, but with different features. Check out the verdict of our H9 review at Cameralabs . com to compare the pros and cons of each. Cheers!

  • A well done review. Spot on with all the topics. I just picked up the FZ50 and am enjoying it very much :)

  • need help! i have a Kodak P800, the FZ50 its much better than thisone? where can i see a forum of this VS? thanx a lot! got MSN?

  • great reviews! i'm a proud owner of a dmc-fz50k and a dmc-lx2k.

    keep the video reviews coming!

  • It seems to me that the lcd brightness is very low. is that correct?

  • That's a good review.

  • does that camera have the option of macro?

  • yep it does!

  • Hi, thanks for the review. But, you recommend a SLR cam if you are not happy with the high noise reduction. Isn't the Fuji S9100/S9600 the right alternative? Will we find a review of that cam too?

    curious,

    MaSa

  • Hello MaSa, the Fujifilm S9100 / S9600 is a similar product with a small sensor, and therefore higher noise levels than a DSLR. I probably won't review the S9100 / S9600 as it is so similar to the previous S9000 / S9500. There's a full review of that on the Cameralabs website compared to the older FZ50 if you're interested!

  • I am still convinced that the S9100/S9600 needs to mentioned as alternative to the FZ50. I got mine 4 weeks ago and I am very happy with it.

  • Btw, the Fuji S9600 has a larger Sensor than the FZ50!!

  • subtitule to spanish please!!!! I WANT THIS!!!!

  • English is better lah.

  • no singlish please

  • And where is the true pure English then?
